Chapter 426 It's My Fault

Mu Xiaocheng: "..."

You're really shameless.

The unfinished lantern in her hand was snatched away, but Mu Xiaocheng wasn't angry. She glanced at it and saw the lantern he had placed next to her.

As if in a fit of pique, she reached out and took it.

Just then, Grandma Xu turned around, saw the lantern stand in her hand, and said with a smile, "Little Cheng did a good job."

After being praised like that by Grandma Xu, Mu Xiaocheng became completely embarrassed.

She pointed to Ji Huaishen sitting next to her and said reluctantly, "He did this."

Grandma Xu then looked at Ji Huaishen again, nodded in satisfaction, and smiled meaningfully.

Then she slowly got up, turned around, and went into the house.

Mu Xiaocheng glanced in Ji Huaishen's direction and saw that he had built the lantern shape in just a few strokes.

That's amazing.

She didn't bother with him, picked up the paper next to her, and was just about to paste it on.

Then Grandma Xu came out with two red paper cutouts.

"We'll stick this on the lantern later."

Mu Xiaocheng took it and stared at the paper-cut, which looked like a magpie.

Is that a magpie?

Her voice was soft and sweet, full of surprise.

I never expected that Grandma Xu's paper-cutting skills were so good, and that she could cut such beautifully.

"Yes, they are a pair."

After saying that, Grandma Xu handed the other card in her hand to Ji Huaishen, who was standing next to her.

Upon hearing the words "a pair," Mu Xiaocheng's face suddenly flushed.

Grandma Xu looked at them with a smile: "Grandma is looking forward to you, hoping you can hold a big, healthy boy next year."

Mu Xiaocheng paused in her paper-making, looked up, and stared at Ji Huaishen.

So giving them magpies is for good luck, hoping they will have a son soon?

Ji Huaishen's eyes held a smile, his dark eyes filled with tenderness as he met her gaze.

After a moment, he parted his thin lips slightly: "Did you hear that?"

Mu Xiaocheng pouted, not wanting to talk to him.

What did you hear? Giving birth?

No way, impossible, don't even think about it.

While making lanterns, Granny Xu observed the two's words and actions. After a while, she smiled and said, "Did the young couple have a quarrel?"

These questions were directed at Mu Xiaocheng.

Mu Xiaocheng kept her head down, looking somewhat embarrassed.

How come you can tell at a glance that these elderly people are arguing?

They weren't arguing; they were having a cold war.

She moved her lips, unsure of what to say, when she heard Ji Huaishen's deep voice: "It's my fault, I made her angry."

Upon hearing this, Mu Xiaocheng couldn't help but look up at him. She saw that he looked serious and had deep eyes, as if he was sincerely admitting his mistake.

When Granny Xu heard Ji Huaishen say this, her smile widened.

Then he turned to Mu Xiaocheng and said, "Xiaocheng, look, he's already apologized to you, so just forgive him."

Mu Xiaocheng bit her lower lip, and suddenly, a feeling of grievance slowly welled up inside her.

He hasn't explained it to her yet, and he even yelled at her before.

Thinking of this, Mu Xiaocheng gradually increased the force in her hands.

Being distracted, they couldn't properly paste the lantern paper on.

Ji Huaishen put down the lantern he had already prepared, and his warm, large hand suddenly pressed down on her slightly cool small hand.

Then, he turned his hand around and grasped her hand in his own.

Mu Xiaocheng froze on the spot.

The hand holding the lantern paper slowly tightened, and her bright eyes were already filled with mist.

"Grandma Xu, I'll take her home first."

His voice was deep and gentle as he took the little girl's hand and walked away.

Grandma Xu watched the two figures disappear into the distance, then glanced at the unfinished lantern on the ground.

If only her old man were still alive.
