Ji Huaishen took Mu Xiaocheng to meet his parents, as Mu Xiaocheng had already made preparations beforehand.
So getting past the parents is actually quite easy.
Most importantly, these two elders seemed quite kind.
When Ji Huaishen showed the marriage certificate to his parents, the two elders began to laugh heartily.
Ji Huaishen's mother talked to Mu Xiaocheng for a while, and the group had a meal together, which was surprisingly peaceful and harmonious.
Mu Xiaocheng maintained a fake smile throughout, adopting the standard socialite demeanor as she chatted with the two elders.
After seeing Ji Huaishen's parents off, Mu Xiaocheng felt her face stiffen.
She looked towards the doorway, pinched her cheek, and felt her facial muscles ache.
Ji Huaishen walked towards her, his voice gentle: "You did very well."
Mu Xiaocheng frowned and thought for a moment, then turned to stare at him and said, "Mr. Ji, I just helped you get through a hurdle, so shouldn't you help me out?"
Ji Huaishen raised an eyebrow with a dashing air, as if he knew she was going to say that, and smiled faintly, "Go ahead."
Mu Xiaocheng took out the scrap of paper that Liu Qin from the detective agency had given her from her bag.
"This is something the detective agency found about my father. I'd like to ask for your help in finding him by following this handwriting."
Ji Huaishen stared at the note in Mu Xiaocheng's hand, his brows furrowing: "Why are you so sure that the handwriting on this note is your father's?"
Mu Xiaocheng was stunned for a moment.
She believed everything Liu Qin said.
They naturally believed his guess. After all, they had been working together for over a year.
Liu Qin had never lied to her.
Mu Xiaocheng pursed her dry lips: "Although it's uncertain, it's the only clue. Even if there's only a one percent chance, I won't give up."
Ji Huaishen chuckled helplessly. Mu Xiaocheng thought he was going to say something or refuse, but Ji Huaishen didn't say anything and suddenly took the note from her hand.
"I'll have them investigate."
When Mu Xiaocheng saw that he had agreed, she couldn't help but grin.
"Well then, thank you, Mr. Ji. I... I'll be going now."
This Mr. Ji is actually quite easy to talk to. She thought he would try to make demands again. After all, he's a businessman, and he wouldn't do a losing deal like this.
Seeing her delicate face beaming with joy, Ji Huaishen couldn't help but smile as well.
He lowered his eyes and glanced at the note in his hand.
His gaze darkened.
"Miss Mu."
Ji Huaishen suddenly called out to her.
Mu Xiaocheng turned around and raised an eyebrow: "Is there anything else?"
Ji Huaishen's expression remained unchanged, a smile playing in his eyes: "I'll have someone send you back."
As soon as he finished speaking, Mu Xiaocheng saw a man of medium height, with wheat-colored skin, and a strong, burly build walking towards her.
Gu Zuo nodded to Ji Huaishen, then nodded to Mu Xiaocheng and said, "Miss Mu, hello. I'm Gu Zuo. I'll take you home."
This was the first time Mu Xiaocheng had ever seen such a strong man. Even through his clothes, she could tell that he was all muscle.
At first glance, it looks a bit like King Kong.
She forced an awkward smile and then turned her questioning gaze to Ji Huaishen.
Ji Huaishen nodded, and Mu Xiaocheng felt relieved and followed Gu Zuo.
If Ji Huaishen hadn't been standing there, she would have mistaken Gu Zuo for a member of the triads. She would absolutely, positively not have followed him.
Mu Xiaocheng had only taken two steps when she suddenly remembered something. She turned around, her eyes wide open as if she had thought of something incredible.
"Mr. Ji, there's something I need your help with."
