When Mu Xiaocheng and Chi Yan returned to Langming Garden, they felt that something was not right.
Langming Garden was unusually quiet today.
It was quiet, almost eerily so.
Mu Xiaocheng nudged Chi Yan beside her, her eyes wide open.
"Have you noticed anything wrong?"
Chi Yan's eyes darted around, and his gaze inadvertently fell on a sniper in the shadows. He coughed lightly and said, "Is something wrong? Sister-in-law, are you exhausted? Why don't you go back to your room and rest? I'll have Aunt Zhuang get you something to eat."
Mu Xiaocheng twitched her eyebrows, scratched her head, and looked at him with a skeptical expression: "You guys aren't hiding anything from me, are you?"
Her words made Chi Yan even more nervous.
Holy crap! Holy crap!
My sister-in-law is always very clever; could she have discovered something?
Could it be that she has already realized he is lying?
No way, no way, he was so good at pretending.
Chi Yan took a deep breath, a fawning smile on her face.
“How could I possibly be hiding anything from you? Even if I were, don’t you trust my brother? He’s absolutely devoted to you and completely loyal.”
Facing Chi Yan's handsome face, Mu Xiaocheng raised an eyebrow, curled her lips, and looked in a certain direction not far away.
"Oh? Then... what's going on with those people over there?"
Chi Yan followed Mu Xiaocheng's gaze and his heart skipped a beat; his little heart started pounding wildly.
Goodness, my sister-in-law really found out.
Chi Yan opened his mouth, about to make up a lie to get away with it, when Mu Xiaocheng said, "I advise you to confess and be lenient, otherwise, if I find out you lied to me, I will really skin you alive."
Chi Yan: "..."
Suddenly I feel so scared.
He subconsciously swallowed, blinked his handsome eyes twice, and said, "Sister-in-law, those people were arranged by my brother when he left."
"We're afraid of a repeat of last time. Even if he's not here, we're prepared for a possible attack, don't you think?"
Mu Xiaocheng narrowed her eyes and looked Chi Yan up and down.
Judging from Chi Yan's expression, she felt that something was amiss.
Seeing that Mu Xiaocheng still didn't believe him, Chi Yan quickly added, "Sister-in-law, you don't actually believe my brother anymore, do you? He'd be so heartbroken if he knew!"
"If you really don't believe me, call my brother and ask him."
Mu Xiaocheng blinked, looking completely bewildered.
How did this turn into her not trusting Ji Huaishen?
Chi Yan's reaction was too intense, and her tone and words were very agitated and exaggerated, with her eyes darting around, clearly indicating that she had something to hide.
Mu Xiaocheng wasn't in a hurry to expose him, and smiled.
"I didn't say I didn't believe you, why are you so nervous?" After saying that, she turned around and went into the living room.
Seeing that she seemed to believe him, Chi Yan took a deep breath, finally feeling relieved.
He patted his chest and quickly followed.
Mu Xiaocheng entered the living room but did not see Shang Qi.
Why is Shang Qi gone too?
Hasn't he always stayed at Langmingyuan?
etc.
Could it be that something really happened?
Also, Mu Xiaocheng suddenly realized something.
Where is Mu's father?
She hasn't seen him all day.
Is something bad going to happen?
Mu Xiaocheng felt uneasy and stood up somewhat flusteredly, staring at Chi Yan who had just entered.
"Chi Yan, tell me the truth."
