Chapter 163 Good Things

"Then tell me, should I agree to her?"

"Isn't this still a question? Whether or not to have children is something you and your wife have to consider. Even if I'm your best friend, I can't help you make this decision."

Jiang Yiyu sighed, "But Song Ming, you have to understand that deciding to bring a child into this world is a very serious matter. He can't be a tool for you to fulfill your parents' wishes. You can deal with marriage, but you can't just deal with giving birth to a child. That's a life."

Song Ming frowned thoughtfully. Jiang Yiyu took a sip of wine, handed the bottle to him, yawned, and patted his shoulder: "You figure it out yourself. I'm going to sleep. I'm so sleepy."

Back in the bedroom, Song Shengsheng was already awake. She saw Jiang Yiyu yawning and yawned in response. "What did my brother talk to you about?"

Jiang Yiyu threw back the quilt and lay back in his seat. Song Shengsheng turned off the lamp, lay down and leaned closer to him: "Tell me!"

Jiang Yiyu glanced at her, and thinking about Song Ming's confusion, he still found it funny: "Wen Jing wants to have a child with him, and he asked me if he should agree to Wen Jing."

Song Shengsheng also chuckled: "I have to ask you about this kind of thing. People who don't know would think you are his true love."

"Stop it, don't talk nonsense! I think Song Ming might not be used to taking on this kind of emotional responsibility. He's used to playing around and being extravagant. He got married to deal with his parents' pressure to get married. He has some feelings for Wen Jing, and Wen Jing doesn't care about him, so he thinks it's good to take a break. Now that they're talking about having a baby, his sense of responsibility has risen, so it's normal for him to panic."

"What about you?"

Jiang Yiyu turned to face her: "What?"

"You don't want children?"

"I don't have the final say on this matter. After all, I'm not the one who's suffering. Honey, I respect your decision 100% on this matter. However, just like what I told my parents at dinner, I don't think our current situation is suitable for having a child. I think you and I should agree, right?"

"Yeah." Song Shengsheng turned over and leaned her head on his shoulder: "There's no rush for children. Anyway, our family doesn't have a throne to inherit. It doesn't matter if we have no children for a lifetime as long as we are happy."

Jiang Yiyu kissed the top of her head and said, "I agree with you. You have an older brother and I have a younger brother. Let them handle any troublesome matters."

Song Shengsheng smiled, nodded, and closed his eyes.

Wang Jing never mentioned the child again, and Song Ming and Wen Jing never said what the final result of their discussion was, but Song Ming obviously started to quit smoking and drinking, soaked wolfberries in his water cup, and never went to any fun parties again.

Wen Jing's workload also dropped sharply. She only followed the itineraries in and around Beijing. The rest of the time she was either in the office or at home. She also often went back to the Song family's old house and Mingyuan with Song Ming to visit Song Qing, Wang Jing, and their grandparents.

Song Shengsheng felt that they were beginning to look like a real couple. Jiang Yiyu said that Song Ming was preparing for pregnancy.

After hearing his words, Song Shengsheng began to imagine how adorable her future nephews and nieces would be. She would buy them lots of pretty clothes and toys. Little girls would be little princesses, and little boys would be little princes. Of course, girls didn't have to be princesses; they could be generals, and little boys could also like Barbie dolls...

Jiang Yiyu laughed at her, thinking so much, it was like giving birth to a child. Instead of wasting time thinking about something that was not even decided yet, she should just revise her thesis.

When talking about the thesis, Song Shengsheng fell silent. She sighed silently, put down her phone and returned to the study.

Jiang Yiyu looked at her with her head down and no motivation, and he also had a headache about the pile of unfinished documents in front of him.

At the end of the year, the Song family welcomed two good things. One was that Jiang Yicheng received the certificate of being a three-good student. Jiang Yiyu was like a pleased old father. He only regretted that he could not put his certificate on the wall of the living room. He even wondered how many tables he should set up for the graduation banquet if Jiang Yicheng was admitted to Peking University in the future.

But Jiang Yicheng, this brat, was determined to become a chef.

That would have been fine, but without Jiang Yiyu's consent, he used the winter break before the New Year to enroll himself in a culinary training school that provided food and accommodation. After coming back, he said hello, went to the sanatorium to see Zhao Rong who was still paralyzed in the hospital bed, and then carried his suitcase to the training school.

He probably told Zhao Rong about his ambitions, which made the already half-dead Zhao Rong even more furious. She called Jiang Yiyu late at night and raged at him. Jiang Yiyu said calmly, "If you're not comfortable in the nursing home, I don't mind sending you to see my dad."

Amidst Zhao Rong's hysterical cries, Jiang Yiyu hung up the phone calmly.

The second good thing was that Wenjing was pregnant.

When she was telling the elders of the Song family about this good news, Song Ming felt awkward for some reason. Jiang Yiyu patted his shoulder and praised him meaningfully, "Brother, you're doing great. You're going to be a father."

Song Ming pushed his arm away, his face red all the way to his neck: "Go away, don't make fun of me."

Jiang Yiyu and Song Shengsheng were amused by this. Wang Jing wanted Wen Jing to move back home so that they could take care of her, but Wen Jing refused because she had to go back to work.

In Song Ming's words, in fact, among them, the one who really regarded getting married and having children as a mission was Wen Jing. Now that the child was in her belly, the mission was half completed. This side quest could not be accomplished for the time being anyway, so she might as well deal with the main task first - making money and working!
