"You were the one who said you wanted to eat hot pot, but when you came, you only ate a few bites. Jiang Yiyu, are you planning to just make me gain weight?"
Jiang Yiyu smiled and nodded: "Yes, I like to see you fatter."
"I knew it! You must be planning to fatten me up so you can enjoy the glory all to yourself! Humph, I won't let you succeed with your little tricks." Song Shengsheng put all the meat piled up like a mountain on the plate into his: "Eat this, don't leave any leftovers!"
"As you command, my princess."
In the end, there were still a lot of dishes left over. Adhering to the principle of not wasting, Song Shengsheng asked for a take-away box when he went to pay, and packed up the leftovers and took them home.
Because he ate too much, Jiang Yiyu asked the driver to park the car at the entrance of the community. Then he leaned on a single crutch and walked slowly into the community hand in hand with Song Shengsheng.
The neighborhood was very busy at eight o'clock in the evening. Song Shengsheng pulled Jiang Yiyu around the small path, deliberately avoiding people passing by.
Jiang Yiyu quietly watched the excitement through the brim of his hat. After walking for a while, he squeezed Song Shengsheng's hand and pointed to a fat orange cat walking not far ahead of them: "Look, it's really fat."
"That's a famous stray cat in the community. His name is A-Dai. He's very affectionate and everyone likes to feed him. Last year, volunteers from the community caught him and had him neutered."
"So cruel."
"This isn't cruelty. If we don't sterilize them, these stray cats will give birth to many kittens where we can't see them. No one will adopt them, and they'll go hungry. If it rains and the weather changes, they'll die."
Jiang Yiyu sighed: "Not all cats like to be kept in captivity."
"We don't know what cats are thinking, so we can only do what we think is right. At least from the current perspective, sterilizing stray cats and dogs is the right thing to do."
Jiang Yiyu didn't say anything else. He watched the fat orange cat named A'dai disappear into the bushes.
After arriving home, Song Shengsheng put the packed vegetables into the refrigerator. Jiang Yiyu walked into the bedroom, took a change of clothes and went to take a shower.
When he came out of the shower, Song Shengsheng was sitting cross-legged on the carpet, slowly making tea.
He sat down on the sofa and glanced at her tea set: "Drinking tea so late at night, not going to sleep?"
Song Shengsheng poured himself a cup of tea and took a sip: "I have always had a good sleep, so drinking tea won't interfere with my sleep."
Jiang Yiyu hummed, wiped his hair, turned on the TV, and tuned to the agricultural channel: "Have a couple of drinks and then take a shower. You smell like hot pot."
"Yeah." Song Shengsheng handed him a cup of tea: "Would you like a cup?"
Jiang Yiyu put down the remote control and smiled: "I won't drink it. This cup is enough to keep me awake until dawn."
Song Shengsheng put down the teacup and watched TV with him for a while: "Your preference for TV shows is the same as my grandfather's."
"Then when we meet Grandpa again, we'll probably have a lot in common."
"Indeed, there is no one at home who can talk to him." Song Shengsheng stood up with his hands on the sofa: "I'm going to take a shower."
"Go ahead."
After Song Shengsheng left, Jiang Yiyu looked at the tea in her teacup, hesitated for a moment, then leaned over to pick up the teacup and took a sip. The tea was light and tasted quite good.
After drinking two cups in a row, he put down the teacup, stood up and walked towards the bedroom while the commercials were playing on TV.
In the bathroom, Song Shengsheng was soaking in the bathtub with her eyes closed, very comfortably. Suddenly, she heard the door open, and then she turned around and saw Jiang Yiyu pushing the door and walking towards her.
She subconsciously retracted her arm from the edge of the bathtub and sank deeper into the water: "Why did you come in?"
"Remind you of something."
"What?"
Jiang Yiyu walked up to her, slowly sat down beside the bathtub, and reached out to stir the foam on the water: "My dear, are you playing dumb again?"
Song Shengsheng hugged himself and shrank back against the wall: "Why are you in such a hurry? Can't we talk about it later?"
"Well, I'll wait for you."
"Why don't you get out first!"
"No."
Song Shengsheng sighed helplessly: "Jiang Yiyu, I promise I won't regret it, really!"
"I don't believe it. I just drank two cups of tea, but I don't want to watch science videos or just chat with you today. I want to do something serious."
"Two cups of tea? You really don't want to sleep?"
"It's not me, it's us. Tonight is destined to be a sleepless night. I thought you just made tea to stay awake."
Song Shengsheng clenched her hands, bit her lip, blinked, and hesitated, "Well, I think some things are better to be done in moderation. Overindulgence is not good for your health. Besides, your leg injury hasn't healed yet, which is not convenient for you. Let's just have a good experience this time and leave it as a memory for the future."
"Let's talk about it later." Jiang Yiyu withdrew his hand that was stirring the foam and turned his back to her: "If you don't want to be here, hurry up."
"You threaten me!"
He chuckled, "I'm glad you understand."
Song Shengsheng raised her hand and gestured to punch him, then quickly stretched her arm and tugged at the corner of Jiang Yiyu's clothes: "Help me, hand me the bathrobe."
Jiang Yiyu turned his head and glanced at her: "I don't think it's necessary."
"I think it's necessary!"
"I wasn't on guard against you before."
"That's you, and I'm me. My specialty is double standards. Hurry up!" She pushed him again to urge him. Jiang Yiyu snorted and chuckled, then stood up, picked up a white bathrobe from the shelf beside him and handed it to her.
