Chapter 104 Unable to Hold Back the Word

Xia Lanying looked at her precious grandson, who seemed more sensible than before, and felt gratified.

"You've all worked so hard lately. Come in quickly, wash your hands, and get ready to eat."

"Grandma, I'm going to take a shower and change my clothes. I'll be right back."

Xu Ziyang missed home-cooked meals terribly. He had been running around with his grandfather and hadn't eaten or slept well, leaving him exhausted.

However, he now understands that it was truly not easy for his grandfather to build his business from scratch to where he is today.

Doing business is not as simple as he thought. As the only grandson of the Xu family, he will have to shoulder the burden of the Xu family in the future.

"Grandpa, would you like to take a bath too? I'll run the water for you."

Xu Jinnan nodded. "Okay, I'll listen to Abao. Luckily, everything is resolved."

Xu Jinnan could finally breathe a sigh of relief; otherwise, he would have been truly unwilling to let his life's work be ruined.

Xu Rubao went to help prepare the bathwater; Grandpa is so old, it's really not easy for him.

Once inside the room, Xu Jinnan watched her run the water in the bathroom.

"Abao, Grandpa's been away from home lately, has your grandma been giving you any trouble?"

Xu Rubao shook her head. "No, Grandpa, don't worry. I spend most of my time at school."

Every time he asked her, she would say she was fine. He knew his wife's personality well.

Now that Ziyang has called off the engagement, Lanying's opinions of her have lessened somewhat.

However, he could never accept Ru Bao.

Ah Bao has grown up now, and she's so well-behaved and sensible. Xu Jinnan is wondering whether he should tell her about her background.

For so many years, ever since he brought her back from the capital, he has never returned to the capital.

He didn't inquire about it, only occasionally seeing news about that family in the news.

Xu Jinnan thought about it and decided that it was fine. They were so heartless back then, throwing their newborn child into the river because they didn't want her.

If we tell Ru Bao about her true parentage now, and then abandon her again, it will only make her more upset.

He couldn't understand why they had abandoned Ru Bao back then. Was it really because of the birthmark on her face? Or was there some other reason?

In his memory, Ru Bao's parents were not such heartless people. How could they bear to abandon their child?

After Xu Rubao finished running the bathwater, she came out and stared blankly at her grandfather.

"Grandpa, you can take a bath soon. What are you thinking about? Haven't you taken care of the medicinal herbs yet?"

Xu Jinnan regained his senses and said, "It's alright, Bao, you can go out now."

Xu Rubao thought that her grandfather was probably tired. He was getting on in years, and it must be really hard on him.

Xu Ziyang took a quick shower. After he finished showering, Xia Lanying asked the kitchen to bring him a bowl of soup.

Xu Ziqing watched from the side, hesitating whether she should tell Jiang Siqi about it now.

Since he returned, Xu Ziyang noticed that his younger sister kept staring at him, looking like she wanted to say something but couldn't.

Her personality doesn't seem like that of someone who can keep a secret; it's not like her character.

After finishing his soup, Xu Ziyang glanced at her and said, "Qingqing, is there something you want to tell me? Just say it directly. Aren't you uncomfortable holding it in?"

Of course she was feeling incredibly stifled; having held it in for so long, she now felt quite superior.

She hesitated for a moment, then said, "Brother, why don't you eat first and we can talk about it after you finish eating? There's no rush."

He and his grandfather had just returned, so they didn't want to lose their appetite after she finished talking.
