Chapter 129 Yanyan originally wanted to marry you after graduating from college
Tang Yutong went to work happily in the morning, with brisk steps and a cheerful mood. As soon as she reached the front desk, she was stopped by the girl at the front desk:
"Mr. Tang, wait a moment!"
Tang Yutong stopped, turned around, and looked at the front desk with a puzzled look:
"What's wrong?"
The girl at the front desk said nervously:
"This morning, a man said he was your friend and wanted to see you for something, so I asked him to wait in your office."
"man?"
Tang Yutong frowned and asked curiously,
"What does he look like?"
"He's quite handsome, tall and thin, and he dresses very elegantly."
The girl at the front desk tried hard to recall.
Tang Yutong was speechless. Most of the male friends around her were of this type. This description was as good as nothing. She shook her head helplessly and said to the receptionist:
"Got it. Just work hard. I'll go up first."
"Okay, Mr. Tang."
The girl at the front desk nodded and watched Tang Yutong leave.
As Tang Yutong walked towards the office, she wondered in her heart: Who could be the man who came to see her so early?
She pushed open the office door and saw a man in a dark suit sitting on the sofa, seemingly flipping through a magazine on the table.
She stared at the back for a few seconds, feeling somewhat familiar, but not sure. She asked tentatively: "Mu Yang?"
The man heard the voice, raised his head, and a gentle smile appeared on his face:
"Yutong, long time no see."
"It's really you!"
Tang Yutong was a little surprised, then laughed.
"It's been a long time. Aren't you in Haicheng? Why did you suddenly come to Beijing? Are you on a business trip?"
Su Muyang shook his head, his tone calm:
"I came here specifically to see you."
"Looking for me?"
Tang Yutong raised her eyebrows, with a vague guess in her mind.
"Is it about Yanyan? Tell me in advance that I won't help you again. Yanyan was unhappy because of the banquet last time."
Su Muyang smiled, with a hint of apology in his tone:
"Don't worry, I'm not here to ask you for help. I just want to ask you about what happened with Yanyan before."
When Tang Yutong heard this, the smile on her face froze instantly. She didn't expect Su Muyang to ask this directly, and she was caught off guard for a moment.
She was silent for a few seconds, then walked to the desk and sat down, her tone becoming cautious:
"Why are you asking this? Yanyan doesn't want to talk about it, so I can't say anything."
Su Muyang's eyes were fixed on Tang Yutong's face, with a hint of urgency and pleading in his expression:
"Yutong, I know you have the best relationship with her. I just want to know what she's been through all these years. It must have been very difficult for her to raise a child alone. And... what happened to her ex-husband?"
When Tang Yutong heard him mention Lu Yiran, the expression on her face instantly turned cold, and there was even a hint of unconcealable resentment in her eyes.
Her tone also became sharp:
"Su Muyang, do you know? If you hadn't broken up with her, how could Yanyan have met her ex-husband? How could she have gone through all those things?"
Su Muyang was stunned for a moment, frowning:
"What's the meaning?"
Tang Yutong was obviously a little excited, and her voice rose unconsciously:
"Do you know how hard Yanyan's life was in the Mu family back then? She wanted to get away from the Mu family, to escape that suffocating place, so she married Lu Yiran! They had no emotional foundation at all!"
"Yan Yan originally wanted to marry you after graduating from college, but what about you? You left! You didn't even give an explanation, you just disappeared like that! She had no choice but to find a random man to marry, just to get away from the Mu family!"
There was a buzzing sound in Su Muyang's mind, as if something exploded. Tang Yutong's words were like a sharp knife, piercing into his heart.
The words "Yan Yan originally wanted to marry you after graduating from college" kept echoing in his ears. Every word was like a heavy hammer, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
His face turned pale in an instant, and his voice trembled a little:
"She and that man... have no feelings? How did that child... come about?"
Tang Yutong sneered, with a hint of sarcasm in his tone:
"It's just an accident."
The word "accident" was like a sharper knife, stabbing into Su Muyang's heart again.
His fingers clenched unconsciously, his knuckles turning white from the force, and Mu Nanyan's calm face and Chenchen's clear eyes appeared in his mind.
He suddenly realized what he had missed and what he had lost.
Tang Yutong looked at Su Muyang's distraught look, but the anger in her heart did not subside.
Her tone was still sharp, even a little aggressive:
"Su Muyang, as Tang Yutong, I can treat you as a friend, but as Yanyan's best friend, I can't forgive you."
"Do you know how she's been through all these years? Raising a child alone, working and taking care of Chenchen at the same time, how hard it is for her, you can't even imagine! And you chose to leave when she needed you the most."
Su Muyang opened his mouth and wanted to say something, but found that his words were so pale and weak. His throat seemed to be blocked by something and he could not make any sound.
The scene of their breakup kept replaying in his mind—Mu Nanyan’s tearful eyes, her trembling voice, and the question “Why?”
He never thought that his departure would cause her such deep hurt, and he never thought that she was forced to choose such a life because of his departure.
Tang Yutong looked at Su Muyang's painful expression, and the anger in her heart subsided a little, but her tone was still cold:
"Su Muyang, if you really care about Yanyan, don't bother her anymore. She's living a good life now, and Chenchen is also very sensible. You... just let her live her own life."
Su Muyang lowered his head, his voice hoarse and low:
"I see...thank you for telling me this."
Su Muyang didn't say anything else, turned around and left the office. The sound of the door closing echoed in the empty room.
————
Su Muyang had just walked out of Tang Yutong's company, and the cold wind blowing in his face made him a little more sober.
He stood by the roadside, Tang Yutong's words still echoing in his mind. It felt like a huge rock was pressing down on his heart, so heavy that he could hardly breathe.
At this moment, the phone in his pocket suddenly rang. He mechanically took out his phone and pressed the answer button. A ruffian but concerned voice came from the other end of the line:
"Mu Yang, what are you doing? Come out and get together. I haven't seen you for a long time."
Su Muyang's voice was a little low, with a hint of fatigue:
"I'm not in Haicheng today. Let's do it another day."
The man opposite him keenly noticed the difference in his tone, and his originally teasing tone suddenly became serious:
"Mu Yang, what's wrong with you? What happened?"
