Chapter 136 He Recognized You at First Sight
Mu Nanyan walked out of the club, took out her cell phone and checked the time. It was already four o'clock in the afternoon. She thought it was a good time to pick up Chenchen, so she drove directly to the international school.
As soon as she arrived at the school gate, she saw Su Muyang holding Su Xiaonuan's hand, and Su Xiaonuan holding Chenchen's hand. The three of them were talking and laughing as they walked towards the school gate.
Mu Nanyan didn't expect to meet Su Muyang again today, and couldn't help muttering in her heart:
Isn’t it too frequent to hear Su Muyang’s name and see him in person today?
Although she felt a little complicated, Mu Nanyan remained expressionless. She walked forward and saw Su Xiaonuan running towards her happily, pulling Chenchen.
Mu Nanyan was afraid that the two children would fall if they ran too fast, so she quickly squatted down and opened her arms to catch them steadily.
"You two, how is your first day of school today?"
Mu Nanyan asked with a smile, her tone full of tenderness.
Before Chenchen could speak, Su Xiaonuan spoke first:
"Pretty Auntie, I'm so happy today! I met so many new friends!"
Mu Nanyan smiled and touched her head:
"Just be happy. How about Chenchen? Are you adapting well today?"
Chenchen nodded, his tone calm:
"Very good, Sister Yan."
Mu Nanyan looked at Chenchen with a trace of guilt on her face:
"I'm sorry, I overslept this morning and couldn't take you to school. I will definitely take you to school tomorrow."
Chenchen shook his head, seriousness written all over his face:
"It's okay, Sister Yan, I can do it myself. I'm a man now and can take care of myself."
Mu Nanyan felt both relieved and a little sad after hearing this. She gently pinched Chenchen's face and said with a smile:
"Chenchen has really grown up."
Su Muyang stood aside, watching the interaction between the three people quietly. His eyes wandered back and forth between Mu Nanyan and Chenchen, and suddenly an illusion arose in his heart.
It was as if Su Xiaonuan and Chenchen were his and Mu Nanyan's children, and they were just like an ordinary pair of parents, picking up their children from school.
The heartwarming scene softened his heart, but he soon came to his senses and realized that it was all just his fantasy.
Mu Nanyan noticed Su Muyang's gaze, stood up, and looked at him with a smile:
"Aren't you in the capital? Why are you back so soon?"
Su Muyang came back to his senses and explained with a smile:
"I haven't been back to school for a long time. I'm going back to take a look."
When Mu Nanyan heard him mention "school", she was slightly startled. She didn't expect Su Muyang to take the initiative to mention college.
Didn't he never want to talk about that past? Why was he going back to it now and reminiscing about it? She was a little confused, but her face remained calm.
"Really? Has the school changed a lot? I haven't been back for a long time."
Su Muyang nodded, with some emotion in his tone:
“The changes are quite big. Many places have been renovated. However, some places are still the same as before. Walking around the campus, it feels like stepping back in time.”
Mu Nanyan felt a little complicated after hearing this. She did not respond, but looked down at Chenchen and Su Xiaonuan, and said with a smile:
"It's getting late, let's go back first, Xiao Nuan, see you tomorrow."
Su Xiaonuan waved her hand and said sweetly:
"Goodbye, pretty auntie! Goodbye, brother Chenchen!"
Su Muyang also nodded, his tone gentle:
"Be careful on the road."
Mu Nanyan took Chenchen's hand and turned to walk towards the parking lot. Su Muyang stood there, watching their backs, and the complicated emotions in his heart surged up again.
He knew that the past between him and Mu Nanyan had long become an irreparable regret, but even so, he still couldn't help wanting to get close to her, even if it was just to watch from afar.
Mu Nanyan got into the car, fastened her seat belt, turned her head to look at Chenchen, and found that he seemed to be hesitant to speak. She couldn't help but asked with a smile:
"Chenchen, what's wrong with you? Is there anything you want to say to Sister Yan?"
Chenchen originally wanted to pretend that nothing had happened, but he was a child after all and couldn't hide his thoughts. He hesitated for a moment, but finally couldn't help but speak:
"Mommy, you and that uncle...have you known each other for a long time?"
Mu Nanyan was stunned for a moment. She didn't expect Chenchen to ask this question. She hesitated for a moment, and finally decided to tell him:
"Yes, that uncle and I were college classmates."
Chenchen blinked and continued to ask:
"Then do you know that he likes you?"
Mu Nanyan was amused by his appearance and couldn't help but reach out and rub his hair:
"You little guy, do you know what love is? Just say he likes me."
"Of course I know!"
Chenchen pouted unconvincedly.
"I just like Sister Yan, and Su Xiaonuan said today that the way that uncle looks at you is very similar to the way her father looks at her mother."
Mu Nanyan smiled and explained patiently:
"The love you have for me is family affection, but what Xiao Nuan said is love, which is different."
Chenchen, however, refused to give in, his face full of seriousness:
"Mommy, don't change the subject. I can see that he likes you, just like your godfather likes you."
Mu Nanyan was somewhat helpless and asked with a smile:
"How did you know that? You're such a smart kid."
Chenchen said seriously:
"Just now when you were standing at the school gate, your uncle was the first one to see you. There were so many people at the school gate, but he recognized you at a glance. Moreover, when you were talking to Xiao Nuan just now, he was staring at you. I saw it all."
Mu Nanyan was a little embarrassed by Chenchen's words and didn't know how to respond for a moment. She didn't expect Chenchen to observe so carefully, and she didn't expect him to ask so directly.
Seeing that Mu Nanyan didn't say anything, Chenchen became a little uneasy. He stared at her with a bit of urgency in his tone:
"Sister Yan, do you like him?"
Mu Nanyan was caught off guard by Chenchen's question. She originally wanted to brush it off, but seeing Chenchen's serious look, she finally decided to tell the truth:
"What's the point of liking or disliking him? I haven't seen that uncle for many years."
Chenchen didn't buy it and continued to ask:
"What does it have to do with how long we haven't seen each other? Even if I haven't seen you for a long time, I still like you."
Mu Nanyan was choked by Chenchen's words. She felt helpless and a little touched. She didn't expect Chenchen to be so obsessed with this issue. Even when Tang Yutong asked her about it, she could just brush it off. But now she was stumped by a little kid.
She sighed, with a hint of pampering in her tone:
"Chenchen, you're still young. You'll understand some things when you grow up. For now, you just need to know that Sister Yan loves you the most, okay?"
After hearing this, Chenchen was still a little dissatisfied, but he did not continue to ask questions. He nodded and muttered softly:
"All right."
Mu Nanyan smiled and didn't say anything else. She started the car and drove away from the school.
On the way, Su Muyang's figure and what Chenchen had just said involuntarily appeared in her mind. She felt a little complicated, but quickly suppressed these emotions.
