Chapter 145: Little guy, are you hiding from me?
Chenchen sat in the passenger seat, looking at Mu Nanyan with resentment on his face, his little mouth pouting high:
"Sister Yan, have you not called your godfather since you came back?"
When Mu Nanyan was asked this, she felt a little guilty. She had indeed been busy dealing with domestic affairs after returning, and later forgot to contact Cui Hao.
She asked tentatively, "How did you know?"
Chenchen blinked, with a hint of pride in his tone:
"Because I called my godfather a couple of days ago, and he said he would be returning home in a few days."
Mu Nanyan was a little surprised when she heard this. Cui Hao went to university abroad and stayed abroad to develop after graduation. He rarely returned to China. Why did he suddenly want to come back?
Just as she was thinking, Mu Nanyan suddenly reacted. She looked at Chenchen with a helpless tone:
"Chenchen, you just told me with an unhappy expression that your godfather is abroad. After all this time, you were just trying to trick me."
Chenchen stuck out his tongue at Mu Nanyan and made a funny expression:
"Who told you, Sister Yan, not to call your godfather?"
Mu Nanyan knew she was in the wrong, so she sighed and said with a hint of compromise:
"Okay, call your godfather later and see when he comes back. We'll go pick him up."
"That's right!"
Chenchen acted like a little adult, speaking in a connoisseur's tone, which made Mu Nanyan burst out laughing.
She reached out and rubbed Chenchen's hair, her tone full of pampering:
"You are becoming more and more clever."
The two chatted and laughed, and the car soon drove to the place where they were going to eat. It was a well-established Chinese restaurant. They had chosen this restaurant because they had been abroad for a long time and missed the taste of China.
Mu Nanyan took Chenchen into the box. As soon as they opened the door, they saw that it was full of people.
When everyone heard the door open, they turned around and when they saw Chenchen, they all gathered around him, saying in unison, "We miss him."
Chenchen politely greeted everyone, his little face full of smiles. Although he was young, he grew up abroad and had a cheerful personality. He was very familiar with the uncles and aunts in the studio.
After exchanging pleasantries, everyone sat down and started chatting while eating. The atmosphere at the table was lively and full of laughter. Mu Nanyan felt a warm feeling in her heart as she watched the scene before her.
"Sister Yan, try this, it's really delicious!"
Chenchen picked up a piece of sweet and sour pork ribs and put it in Mu Nanyan's bowl, with a hint of anticipation in his tone.
Mu Nanyan smiled and nodded, picked up the sweet and sour pork ribs and took a bite. It tasted really good.
She felt relieved when she saw Chenchen's satisfied expression.
Chenchen was halfway through his meal when he suddenly put down his chopsticks and said to Mu Nanyan:
"Sister Yan, I'm going to the bathroom."
Mu Nanyan looked up at him, with some concern in her tone:
"Would you like me to go with you?"
Chenchen shook his head, his tone filled with confidence:
"No, I can do it myself."
"Then be careful."
"good."
Chenchen responded and walked straight out of the box.
After using the toilet, Chenchen washed his hands and was about to leave. When he opened the door, he saw a man standing at the toilet door and talking on the phone.
His heart suddenly tightened, and he retreated back to the bathroom almost reflexively, his heart pounding.
"He probably didn't see me just now, right? How come I ran into this uncle just for dinner?"
Chenchen muttered to himself and quickly hid in a cubicle, holding his breath, afraid of being discovered by people outside.
After waiting for about five minutes, when the restroom was completely quiet, Chenchen cautiously poked his head out, thinking:
"That uncle should have finished his phone call and left, right?"
He tiptoed out of the cubicle, looked into the corridor, and found that there was no one outside. He immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
He walked quickly out of the bathroom and headed towards the box.
However, just as he took a few steps, he suddenly felt someone pulling his hoodie from behind, and a familiar voice sounded in his ears:
"Little guy, are you hiding from me?"
Chenchen's heart was filled with alarm, but he tried to remain calm. He turned his head with an innocent smile on his face.
"Uncle, it's you, what a coincidence! Are you here to use the restroom too? Go ahead, I'm going back now."
He tried to break free from Lu Yiran's hand after he finished speaking, but Lu Yiran held his hat tightly, with a questioning look in his eyes:
"Why are you hiding from me?"
Chenchen blinked, his tone somewhat innocent:
"Uncle, what are you talking about? When did I hide from you? Didn't I just come out of the bathroom?"
Lu Yiran raised his eyebrows, with a certainty in his tone:
"I saw you outside when I was on the phone earlier. You had already come out."
Chenchen's heart tightened, but his face remained calm:
"Oh, you mean that time? I didn't even see you. I ate something bad and had diarrhea, so I went back."
As he spoke, he touched his stomach pitifully, looking aggrieved.
Looking at his expression, Lu Yiran couldn't help but feel a little shaken. He thought that children shouldn't have so many thoughts, so he believed what he said and subconsciously let go of the hand that was holding his hat.
Seeing that Lu Yiran believed it, Chenchen felt relieved and muttered to himself:
"This uncle is so easy to fool."
Lu Yiran looked at Chenchen, still a little confused, and continued to ask:
"Where's your mommy?"
Chenchen's heart was lifted again. He looked at Lu Yiran with a puzzled look, and his tone was a bit naive:
"Uncle, why do you always ask about my mommy every time you see me? You don't like her, do you? No, I have my dad, you can't steal my dad's girlfriend."
When Lu Yiran heard this, his face suddenly darkened. He had never even met Chenchen's mother, so how could he fall in love with her? This child's imagination was really bizarre.
Lu Yiran was speechless for a moment and didn't know how to respond. He originally suspected that Chenchen was the son of Mu Nanyan and himself, but Chenchen kept saying that he had a father and called Mu Nanyan "Sister Yan", which made him feel a little shaken.
Was he really overthinking it? Was it just a coincidence that Chenchen and he looked more alike?
At this time, Mu Nanyan saw that Chenchen had not returned yet and was worried that something had happened to him, so she came over.
She saw Lu Yiran pulling Chenchen's hat from a distance, and her heart tightened, thinking that Lu Yiran was bullying Chenchen. She hurried over and protected Chenchen behind her.
She looked down at Chenchen, her tone filled with anxiety:
"Chenchen, are you okay?"
Chenchen shook his head, with a hint of apology in his tone:
"Sister Yan, I'm fine. I'm sorry for making you worry."
Lu Yiran stood aside, watching the scene quietly, and the doubts that had just been suppressed in his heart emerged again.
Mu Nanyan's concern for Chenchen doesn't seem like the concern between friends, but more like the concern of a mother for her son.
Moreover, he saw Chenchen twice, both times with Mu Nanyan. This was too much of a coincidence. Lu Yiran looked at the two of them with a bit of inquiry in his eyes.
