Chapter 182 Of course it’s because of you and Chenchen

Chapter 182 Of course it’s because of you and Chenchen

Haicheng International Airport

Mu Nanyan was originally worried that there would be traffic jams on the airport road on the weekend, but unexpectedly, the road was smooth. She and Chenchen arrived at the airport half an hour early and sat on a bench in the waiting hall waiting.

Chenchen's little feet dangled in the air, and from time to time she looked up at the flight information screen.

"Sister Yan, there are still ten minutes!"

Chenchen excitedly tugged at Mu Nanyan's sleeve.

Mu Nanyan glanced at her watch and said gently:

"Then we should go to the exit and wait."

The two arrived at the airport and looked for a familiar figure in the crowd. Mu Nanyan lowered her head and was about to send a message to Cui Hao, but in the blink of an eye, Chenchen disappeared.

Her heart suddenly tightened, and she was about to shout when she heard Chenchen's cheerful voice not far away:

"Godfather!"

Following the voice, I saw a tall man bending down to pick up Chenchen. He was wearing a simple beige sweater and dark casual pants, with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses on his nose, and behind the lenses were a pair of eyes as warm as jade.

"Godfather! I missed you so much!"

Chenchen hugged Cui Hao's neck and put his little face against his cheek.

Cui Hao patted Chenchen's back gently, his voice as gentle as a spring breeze:

"I missed you too, little one. Let me see if you've grown taller again."

His gaze passed over Chenchen's shoulder and met Mu Nanyan's eyes who was standing not far away. In the sunlight, his light brown pupils flashed with warmth, and the corners of his mouth rose slightly, revealing a reassuring smile.

"Long time no see, Nan Yan."

Cui Hao walked towards her holding Chenchen, his voice low and soft.

Mu Nanyan finally came to her senses and quickly walked over to him:

"The flight was on time. Chenchen just disappeared in a flash, giving me a scare."

Cui Hao chuckled softly, his eyes curved into gentle crescents behind his lenses:

"This little guy has very sharp eyes. He spotted me as soon as I came out."

Mu Nanyan looked at Chenchen who was clinging to Cui Hao's arms, with a smile in her eyes:

"He's so familiar with you. If it were someone else, they wouldn't be able to recognize you from such a distance."

Upon hearing this, Cui Hao looked down at Chenchen in his arms, his eyes full of doting:

"It seems that my love for you over the years has not been in vain."

As Cui Hao spoke, he gently pinched Chenchen's chubby little face.

Mu Nanyan pointed to the suitcase next to Cui Hao:

"Is that all the luggage?"

"Well, everything else was sent back in advance."

Cui Hao adjusted the way he held Chenchen and continued:

"I won't leave this time."

Chenchen immediately cheered in Cui Hao's arms:

"Great! Then godfather can play with me every day!"

Cui Hao scratched Chenchen's nose in a serious manner:

"You just think about playing every day. Have you finished your homework?"

"I've finished my homework a long time ago, don't worry!"

The three of them walked towards the parking lot, talking and laughing. The sunlight shone through the glass dome of the airport, stretching their shadows very long.

After getting in the car, Mu Nanyan fastened her seat belt and turned around to ask:

"You just came back, have you found a place to live?"

"I've found it."

Cui Hao answered while helping Chenchen fasten the child seat belt.

"Let's go directly to Yuehu Yundi. It's right next to the Children's Hospital affiliated with Fudan University."

The car slowly drove out of the airport. Mu Nanyan held the steering wheel and chatted with Cui Hao casually:

"Did you work at Fudan University Affiliated Hospital afterwards?"

"Um."

Cui Hao nodded, his eyes behind the glasses looking at the scenery passing by outside the window.

"They invited me several times before, but I rejected them all on the grounds that I wasn't going back to China. Now that I'm back, I might as well go work for them."

"Yeah, didn't you always say you wanted to settle abroad? Why do you suddenly want to come back and develop your career?"

Cui Hao turned his head and his eyes fell gently on Mu Nanyan's profile:

"Of course it's because of you and Chenchen. Now that you two are back, it must be so hard for me to be left alone over there."

The car suddenly became quiet. Mu Nanyan's fingers gripping the steering wheel tightened slightly. She didn't know what to say. Cui Hao had given too much for her, but she could give him nothing.

Sensing the change in atmosphere, Cui Hao chuckled and broke the silence with a relaxed tone:

"You're not going to believe this, are you? I'm just kidding."

He pushed his glasses and continued:

"You and Chenchen are one thing, but the most important thing is work. The Children's Hospital affiliated with Fudan University has always wanted to cooperate with St. Mary's Children's Hospital, where I used to work, to explore treatment options for children with congenital heart disease, so I came back."

Mu Nanyan breathed a sigh of relief, the corners of her mouth unconsciously raised, and her tone became a little lighter:

"That's great. In fact, domestic medical standards have improved rapidly in recent years. Returning to China for development is indeed a good choice."

Cui Hao pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses and responded gently:

"It doesn't really matter to me where I work. I've just been abroad for a long time and I'm used to the environment there."

He turned his head to look at the street scene passing by outside the window, and the flowing light and shadow were reflected on the lens.

The car slowly drove into the Yuehu Yundi residential complex. Chenchen leaned against the car window, his little face pressed against the glass, and suddenly shouted excitedly:

"Sister Yan! This place is so close to our school! I can see the school!"

He pointed with his little hand at a red and white building not far away.

"Look! That's the name of our school!"

Mu Nanyan looked in the direction Chenchen pointed, and sure enough, she saw the international school that Chenchen attended. She smiled and nodded:

"It's quite close, only about ten minutes' walk."

Chenchen's eyes lit up, and he turned around and looked at Mu Nanyan expectantly:

"Then after school, if you don't have time to pick me up, can I come to my godfather's place?"

Then he looked at Cui Hao with wet eyes like a puppy.

Cui Hao couldn't help laughing, and reached out to rub Chenchen's hair, his voice gentle but firm:

"Of course you can. Just treat this place as your home, just like you did in Country F."

"Godfather is so nice!"

Chenchen cheered and couldn't wait to unbuckle his seat belt, his little face full of joy.

"I want to see it now!"

Mu Nanyan parked the car and looked back at her son's excited expression. A complex emotion flashed in her eyes. She whispered to Cui Hao:

"Don't spoil him too much."

Cui Hao smiled and shook his head, his eyes curved into a gentle arc behind his glasses:

"How can this be considered spoiling? Chenchen has always been very sensible. It's my blessing to be able to watch him grow up."

The sunlight shone through the gaps in the leaves onto the three people, casting mottled light and shadows on the ground.

Chenchen had already jumped to the door of the unit, looking back from time to time to urge:

"Sister Yan, godfather, hurry up!"

Mu Nanyan and Cui Hao smiled at each other, and at the same time quickened their pace and walked towards Chenchen.
