Chapter 229 Mommy, the strange uncle is mean to me~

After Chenchen and Cui Hao came down from upstairs, Mu Nanyan went to call Lu Yiran. She walked straight to the next door and rang the doorbell.

"Ding Dong~Ding Dong~Ding Dong~"

Not long after, the door opened. When Lu Yiran saw that it was Mu Nanyan, the corners of his mouth rose unconsciously:

"Are you ready to eat?"

"Um."

Mu Nanyan nodded, but her gaze unconsciously lingered on him for a few more seconds.

Although I had just seen him half an hour ago, he had changed his outfit from a white shirt and a black haute couture suit to a light blue shirt and a dark blue jacket.

This outfit makes him look more calm and reserved, and adds a touch of noble temperament to his every move.

What concerned Mu Nanyan even more was that he exuded an aura of joy.

She secretly complained: It's just a meal with Chenchen, why are you so happy? You even changed into a new set of clothes.

"Let's go."

Lu Yiran changed into his leather shoes quickly and followed Mu Nanyan to the elevator.

His originally brisk pace suddenly faltered when he saw the scene at the elevator entrance. Cui Hao was bent over, chatting and laughing with Chenchen.

Lu Yiran's eyes instantly turned cold: "Why are you here?"

Cui Hao stood up straight with a polite smile on his face: "Isn't it obvious? I'll go eat with you."

There was a hint of reluctance in that smile, as if it was done deliberately to maintain superficial peace.

Lu Yiran's face grew uglier. What was going on when a stranger suddenly showed up at the dinner he'd been dreaming about as a family of three? Was the date he'd been looking forward to for so long ruined?

"I'm afraid it's not appropriate for you to go with us?" Lu Yiran asked in a stiff tone.

Before Cui Hao could respond, Chenchen spoke first:

"There's no difference between eating for three and eating for four, so why would it be inappropriate?"

The little guy was very sharp-tongued and directly retorted Lu Yiran's previous words without any change.

Lu Yiran was speechless for a moment, and felt even worse.

He felt like a stone was blocking his chest when he saw Chenchen defending Cui Hao. He was obviously the biological father of the child, so why did he act like an outsider now?

"I am your father." Lu Yiran lowered his voice, with a warning in his eyes.

But Chenchen didn't buy it at all. He quickly hid behind Mu Nanyan, tugged at her clothes and complained aggrievedly:

"Mommy, it's my fault that the uncle is so mean to me~"

As she spoke, her eyes turned red, and crystal tears hung on her eyelashes, threatening to fall, which made anyone feel distressed.

Mu Nanyan quickly squatted down to comfort him: "Chenchen, be good, don't cry~"

When she looked up at Lu Yiran, her eyes were already filled with reproach:

"If Mr. Lu doesn't want to go, there's no need to force him. Why make things so unpleasant?"

Lu Yiran was almost laughing with anger. How could he be the one to blame? And did he mean to chase him away? If he really left, wouldn't that create an opportunity for Cui Hao?

Just as he was secretly annoyed, he suddenly met Chenchen's cunning gaze.

The little guy took advantage of Mu Nanyan's inattention and made a face at him. How could he look aggrieved at all? He was clearly a little drama queen!

The situation was really awkward. Mu Nanyan and Chenchen were both protecting Cui Hao. If he insisted any further, it would only make him look petty. Lu Yiran took a deep breath and finally compromised.

"Then let's all go together."

Lu Yiran said this with great reluctance, as if he was forced to do so by someone holding a knife to his neck.

The four of them took the elevator to the parking garage together. Considering that there would be many people at night and it would be difficult to find a parking spot, the four of them simply took Mu Nanyan's car to eat.

Chenchen's child seat was in the back, so Lu Yiran was faced with two choices: either sit in the passenger seat or in the back seat...

If he chose the latter, it would mean giving the co-pilot seat to Cui Hao, a thought that made him feel uncomfortable.

But on second thought, this might be a good opportunity to enhance my relationship with Chenchen.

His slender fingers paused on the car door handle for a few seconds, and finally turned to Mu Nanyan and said:

"Let me drive, and you sit in the back with Chenchen."

Mu Nanyan didn't understand why, but still handed the car keys to Lu Yiran. However, Cui Hao saw through Lu Yiran's thoughts at a glance. He had the same idea as Lu Yiran, so he thought it was a good idea. He went straight to the passenger seat.

The navigation system eventually brought the group to a bustling hot pot restaurant. Lu Yiran stepped on the brakes and looked out the window at the bright red sign and the bustling crowd of diners, his brows unconsciously furrowed.

Hot pot? He never eats this kind of thing, especially thinking about the chili in the hot pot, his tongue tip has begun to numb.

He turned to look at Mu Nanyan in the back seat, his tone showing obvious hesitation: "Eat here?"

"Yes, Chenchen wants to eat hot pot." Mu Nanyan answered while unbuckling her seat belt.

Three pairs of eyes looked at him at the same time. Lu Yiran suddenly felt like he was being scrutinized and was a little embarrassed. If someone didn't know him, they would think he was not sociable.

When Lu Yiran heard that it was Chenchen who wanted to eat, he finally compromised and said lightly: "Get out of the car."

Chenchen couldn't wait to unbuckle his seat belt and rushed out like a happy little bird.

Mu Nanyan and Cui Hao followed closely behind. Before leaving, Mu Nanyan turned back and said to Lu Yiran:

"Go park the car, we'll go in and order food first."

"Um."

Lu Yiran nodded and watched the three of them walk into the hot pot restaurant.

During the twenty minutes he spent looking for a parking space, his mood grew increasingly irritable.

When he finally parked the car and walked into the hot pot restaurant, the noisy sound that hit him made his temples throb.

The waiter came up to greet us warmly:

"Hello, how many people are there?"

"I came here with some other people, a man and a woman with a little boy of four or five years old. Which table are they at?"

The waiter smiled and pointed inside: "Oh, you mean the family of three? Just walk in, the third table on the right is where you are."

When Lu Yiran heard the waiter say a family of three, he immediately became unhappy. His face darkened, and he looked at the waiter and explained solemnly:

"Aren't they a family of three? Don't you see that the child looks a lot like me?"

The waiter smiled awkwardly and then explained:

"Excuse me, I noticed you look like the little boy, I thought you were his uncle."

Lu Yiran was really speechless. He felt that he had talked for a long time in vain. He was too lazy to explain to her and walked directly to the place she had just mentioned.

The restaurant was full of people and it was very lively. When Lu Yiran walked to his seat, Mu Nanyan was the only one at the table. Chenchen and Cui Hao went to get the dishes. Today they came to a buffet hotpot restaurant, which was very popular recently.

Mu Nanyan saw Lu Yiran come in and greeted him, "Please sit down."

Lu Yiran hesitated for a moment, still not sitting down. He stood and looked at Mu Nanyan and asked, "Why don't you choose the private room?"
