Chapter 323 I Suspect You Are in Versailles

Chapter 323 I Suspect You Are in Versailles

Shangguan Fuling held her chin with both hands, looked at Mu Nanyan with sparkling eyes, and suddenly asked:

"Sister Nanyan, have you ever participated in an impromptu fashion show at the Montmartre Art Market before?"

Mu Nanyan was slightly stunned, and memories came flooding back.

It was during her second year at the design school. The impromptu fashion show was organized by a friend of hers, and one of the people had food poisoning and couldn't come, so she was pulled in to help out.

“I did go there once…”

Before Mu Nanyan finished speaking, Shangguan Fuling jumped up excitedly.

"I knew it was you!"

The girl clenched her hands into fists, her cheeks flushed with excitement:

"Three years ago, my brother took me to Paris for vacation, and I was stunned when I saw that show in Montmartre! You used that old curtain fabric with sunflowers printed on it and transformed it into a Greek goddess dress in less than 20 minutes!"

Shangguan Fuling was gesticulating while speaking, as if the scene was right in front of her.

"The most amazing thing is that when the model turned around, the sunlight filtered through the holes in the fabric, casting spots of light on the ground that looked like stars. It was really beautiful!"

Shangguan Fuling was super excited one second, and the next second she was completely drooped:

"It's a pity that everyone was wearing masks during the fashion show, so I didn't get to see what you looked like. I went backstage to look for you, but the staff said you had already left. I only asked for your English name, Grace."

Mu Nanyan felt a slight tremor in her palm. She didn't expect that the hastily created work she had created back then would be remembered so cherished for three years.

"Is it possible that I was just lucky that day and you happened to see it? As a fashion designer, making ready-made clothes is just a basic skill..."

Before Mu Nanyan could finish her words, Shangguan Fuling interrupted her anxiously:

"No way! There were so many designers participating in the fashion show that day, but only the clothes you made stood out to me!"

Mu Nanyan looked at the girl in front of her who was arguing for her, and a soft ripple appeared in her heart.

The sunlight shone through the floor-to-ceiling windows onto Shangguan Fuling, giving her fluffy hair a golden edge and making her look like a kitten with its fur standing on end.

"Thank you, Fuling."

Mu Nanyan's voice was soft, but it carried an unprecedented warmth.

"I should be the one to say thank you."

Shangguan Fuling's voice gradually became lower, and her slender fingers unconsciously twisted the hem of her pajamas, creating tiny wrinkles on the soft cotton fabric.

She lowered her eyelashes, and her voice was filled with the tenderness and confusion that only a rich girl could have:

"As you can see, our family is... quite wealthy. Growing up, my brother and I never had to worry about making a living. Even if we never worked, we'd still be able to live comfortably. Because of this, we've lost our purpose..."

Mu Nanyan raised her eyebrows when she heard this, and a helpless smile appeared on the corner of her mouth:

"Is this what they call 'diseases of affluence'? I suspect you're in Versailles..."

Shangguan Fuling hurriedly shook her head, the strands of hair on her temples swaying slightly with the movement:

"No! I used to be really... confused. Ever since I can remember, my mother had everything planned out for me: which aristocratic school to attend, what talents to learn, what kind of friends to make...even whether to have macarons or scones for afternoon tea."

Mu Nanyan's eyes dimmed slightly as she thought of her mother who had passed away young.

That gentle woman did her best to take care of everything for her in the last moments of her life. Perhaps this is the common form of maternal love.

"You are very happy..."

She whispered, her tone filled with genuine envy.

"I think so too, but this is not the life I want. Do you know when I started to change?"

"When?" Mu Nanyan asked subconsciously.

"It was when I saw your name again in a magazine. The sister who created miracles with old curtain fabrics in Montmartre actually became a famous designer. At that moment, I realized that life can be woven by oneself."

Shangguan Fuling suddenly raised her head, her eyes gleaming with unprecedented brilliance.

"I want to be like you and make more people know me through my own efforts. I hope they know Shangguan Fuling because of my excellence, not because of the title of Miss Shangguan."

Mu Nanyan reached out to tuck her scattered hair behind her ears, looked at her seriously and said:

"I believe in you, you can do it."

In the following time, the two chatted enthusiastically about the design concept. Near noon, Shangguan Fuling glanced at the time and said to Mu Nanyan:

"Sister Nanyan, it's time for lunch. Why don't you stay and have lunch with me?"

When Mu Nanyan heard this, she subconsciously wanted to refuse. She came here to work today, so this was really inappropriate.

"Next time, I'll treat you to a meal."

Mu Nanyan stood up and prepared to leave, but as soon as she stood up, she felt someone grab her arm. She turned her head and saw Shangguan Fuling said pitifully:

"Sister Nanyan, why don't you stay and have dinner with me? Just consider it as fulfilling a little wish of all fans."

Mu Nanyan smiled helplessly and was about to say something when Shangguan Fuling continued:

"I'm the only one at home today. How pitiful! It's so lonely eating alone..."

As she spoke, she shook Mu Nanyan's arm.

Mu Nanyan is a person who only responds to soft words and not to harsh ones. Moreover, she couldn't resist such a cute girl acting coquettishly towards her, so she finally softened her heart and agreed.

"All right."

When Shangguan Fuling saw Mu Nanyan agreed, a smile instantly broke out on her face and she ran downstairs excitedly.

Mu Nanyan looked at her back, smiled helplessly, and followed her downstairs.

After lunch, Mu Nanyan drove away from Shangguan's house.

Just as she was about to drive away from Yunqi Garden, a black Maybach passed by her. Through the lowered window, Mu Nanyan saw a middle-aged man in a Tang suit sitting in the back seat.

She subconsciously turned her head to look, but because the car was going too fast, Mu Nanyan did not see what the man looked like.

Mu Nanyan glanced at the rearview mirror and saw that the luxury car had disappeared deep in the shadow of the sycamore trees. She shook her head, turned the steering wheel and merged into the main road.
