Chapter 16 When can I go out?
On the other side, Lu Yiran was attending an international conference. When he saw a call from an unfamiliar number, he hung up the phone without thinking and blocked the phone number.
Are you kidding? How could he, the CEO of Lu, answer a call from a stranger? It was such a waste of time. After blocking the number, he continued with the meeting and put the matter out of his mind.
Mu Nanyan heard the call connected and then hung up. She thought Lu Yiran was busy with something, so she didn't call again and planned to talk after dinner.
Just then, dinner was ready, and Mu Nanyan sat down at the table and started eating. After dinner, she took a walk in the garden to digest the food. After a while, she suddenly got an inspiration and went back to the bedroom to continue drawing her design, completely forgetting about calling Lu Yiran.
The next morning.
Mu Nanyan got up early in the morning. She planned to continue looking for a job today. The internship required by the school would start in about a week, so she had to hurry up and find a job. She didn't want to be unable to get her diploma because of the internship.
After she had breakfast, she was about to go out when the housekeeper appeared and stopped her.
"Madam, where are you going?"
"I'm out looking for an internship. What's wrong, housekeeper? Is there anything wrong?"
The housekeeper hesitated for a long time, and finally said, "Young Madam, you should rest at home for the next few days."
Mu Nanyan didn't understand what the housekeeper meant. She was puzzled as to why he asked her to rest at home. However, she still patiently explained:
"The internship period required by our school is about to begin. If I can't find a job, it will affect my internship results. So I have to find a job and can't rest at home anymore."
The housekeeper could tell that Mu Nanyan was very anxious, and he also knew that her internship must be very important, but he didn't dare to disobey the eldest young master's order, so he could only make it clear.
"Madam, the young master said that you cannot leave the mansion without his permission these days."
After the housekeeper said these words, cold sweat broke out on his forehead. The couple now quarreled without even meeting each other, and in the end, both sides' anger would probably be vented on him, the messenger.
When Mu Nanyan heard that she was under house arrest, she felt even more confused and complained in her heart.
"Is Lu Yiran crazy? I didn't offend him, so why did he ground me? Is he crazy?"
Mu Nanyan wanted to find out what was going on. She looked at the housekeeper and asked, "Why didn't he let me out? When did he tell me that?"
The housekeeper answered honestly:
"I don't know why the Young Master wants to ground Young Mistress. He gave the order yesterday morning. Young Mistress, you should stay home. It won't be too late to find a job in a couple of days. Maybe he'll let you go once Young Master's anger has subsided. You'd better not disobey Young Mistress these two days, otherwise he'll get even angrier and there's no telling what he might do."
The housekeeper kindly said a few more words, and then quickly slipped away. Mu Nanyan thought about what the housekeeper had just said:
"Yesterday morning? He and I were fine after breakfast yesterday, so the problem definitely wasn't at home. Could it be because of the interview yesterday? But it was just an interview, so why is he so angry? And why doesn't he let me go out? Didn't we agree to be a fake couple and not bother each other? What does he mean now? It's really incomprehensible."
Thinking about it this way, Mu Nanyan felt that Lu Yiran was a tyrant with a fickle temper. Just because of such a small matter, he was going to put her under house arrest. Wouldn't that mean her life would be at his mercy from now on? Mu Nanyan didn't want that kind of life, so she took out her phone and prepared to call Lu Yiran to ask what he meant.
"The number you dialed cannot be connected. Please try again later."
Mu Nanyan was a little confused when she heard the voice broadcast. Could it be that Lu Yiran’s phone was broken? She was able to get through yesterday. She didn’t give up and called again.
"The number you dialed cannot be connected. Please try again later."
She called several times in a row, and when the prompt tone still sounded, she came to the conclusion that she had been blocked.
"This is outrageous. What is Lu Yiran doing? Did she know this phone number is mine, so she blocked me when she called yesterday? Isn't that necessary? I just didn't attend the interview. There's really no way to communicate."
Mu Nanyan was really furious at Lu Yiran's actions. Others would at least notify others before sentencing them to death, but Lu Yiran just announced it unilaterally without giving anyone a chance to explain.
She returned to the living room angrily and sat down. She suddenly had an urge to smash his house to see if he would come back. But Mu Nanyan looked around and saw the magnificent living room, and suddenly she couldn't do it.
Every penny knocked off was worth money. If Lu Yiran asked him to pay her back, even if he sold her, he wouldn't be able to pay her back. The thought of herself getting into a huge debt because of an impulse, and then having to work for him to pay it back, suddenly calmed down. She was just a contract wife now, and she was under his control. If she became his employee, she would be manipulated by him.
Mu Nanyan accepted her fate. If this matter was not resolved, she would not be able to leave the mansion, and how could she go out to find a job? But now she could neither see Lu Yiran nor get through to him on the phone. How could she explain it to him?
Mu Nanyan thought about it for a long time but couldn't come up with a good solution. Finally, she compromised. The housekeeper seemed to have said that she would be confined for two days. After two days, she should be able to go out. Mu Nanyan thought so and decided to stay at home for the next two days to look at job information and contact the interview in two days. She got up and went back to her room, ready to use her computer to check the information.
When the housekeeper saw Mu Nanyan coming upstairs, he breathed a sigh of relief:
"Fortunately, the young lady didn't force her way out, otherwise I really don't know what to do. I hope the eldest young master can calm down quickly and let the young lady out, otherwise they will definitely quarrel."
Mu Nanyan basically stayed in the room these two days. Except for eating and sleeping, she spent the rest of her time contacting companies for interviews or drawing design drafts.
On the second night, Mu Nanyan went downstairs to find the housekeeper:
"Butler, did he say I can go out tomorrow?"
"No."
The housekeeper felt a little guilty when he said this. After all, Lu Yiran didn't say that Mu Nanyan would be confined for only two days, but that she was not allowed to go out without his permission. It was just that the housekeeper thought that the eldest young master would only confine the young mistress for two days at most, but he had not received any notice until now.
"Then when can I go out?"
