Extra Chuci vs Tang Yutong 02

Extra Chuci vs Tang Yutong 02

The proprietress looked at Tang Yutong's hurriedly leaving back, her eyes full of confusion.

They were apparently very close the last time they met, how come things have become like this in the blink of an eye?

She sighed softly, and finally didn't think about it anymore. She turned around and went back to the kitchen filled with smoke to continue working.

Chu Ci had just downed a glass of strong liquor, and the burning sensation in his throat had not yet dissipated, but suddenly his mind moved and he unconsciously looked towards the door.

At that moment just now, he clearly felt a familiar gaze falling on him - but there was no one at the door, only the night wind blowing the fallen leaves.

Just then, a man in a suit pushed the door open and walked up to him with steady steps.

The man bowed slightly and said in a respectful but unyielding tone:

"Boss Chu, it's time to go back. We have a board meeting tomorrow morning."

Chu Ci withdrew his gaze expressionlessly, picked up the wine bottle with his knuckles, and filled the empty glass in front of him.

The transparent liquid swayed in the warm light, reflecting his obscure eyes.

Chu Ci looked at the wine swaying in the cup and did not respond.

Zhang Quan frowned slightly at his expression, but still slowed down his tone:

"Master, please drink less. The company needs you to stay sober now."

"wide awake?"

Chu Ci chuckled softly, and rubbed the rough edge of the wine glass with his fingertips.

"I'm more awake than ever now."

If it were in the past, he would have gotten up and left without hesitation and continued his carefree night life.

But at this moment, he just stared at the transparent liquid in the cup silently, as if weighing something.

Seeing this, Zhang Quan added:

"Tomorrow morning's meeting is related to the company's strategic layout for the next quarter, and several directors will be present."

Chu Ci finally put down his wine glass, and the glass made a crisp sound when it hit the table.

He stood up slowly, with an imperceptible heaviness in his movements.

"Let's go."

His voice was calm, but it no longer had the usual levity.

When he walked out of the barbecue restaurant, his eyes inadvertently swept across the place where Tang Yutong had just stood. His footsteps paused slightly, and then he resumed his steady pace and blended into the night.

Chu Ci got into the car, but didn't immediately tell anyone to drive.

He rolled down the car window, letting the evening breeze in, his eyes still fixed on the warm yellow lights of the barbecue restaurant.

He suddenly spoke, his voice filled with fatigue.

"Uncle Zhang, how long do you think it takes for a person to become completely different from their former self?"

Zhang Quan glanced at him in the rearview mirror and answered cautiously:

"Change is not necessarily a bad thing, Master."

Chu Ci twitched the corners of his mouth, but there was no smile in his eyes.

A month ago, he would gather his friends on nights like this and go to various bars until dawn.

And now, he couldn't even remember the last time he laughed so heartily without any burden.

The car started slowly, leaving the lights of the barbecue restaurant behind.

Chu Ci closed his eyes, but the scene of Tang Yutong bringing him here for the first time emerged in his mind at an inappropriate time. She smiled with her eyes curved and insisted that he try her favorite skewers. He seemed to be disgusted, but secretly raised the corner of his mouth when she turned around.

He opened his eyes and his tone returned to his usual calmness:

"Go straight back to the company. There are still a few documents that need to be processed tonight."

Zhang Quan looked at Chu Ci sitting in the back seat through the rearview mirror with a hint of worry:

"You've been working for sixteen hours straight."

"No problem."

Chu Ci had already picked up his phone and started checking emails.

The cold light from the screen reflected on his face, outlining a resolute outline.

At this moment, he is no longer the rich young man who plays around in the world, but the helmsman who shoulders the responsibility of the entire enterprise.

But no one knows what price he paid for this sudden maturity.

Tang Yutong almost escaped from the barbecue restaurant.

She walked towards the parking lot without looking back, started the engine, and left the warm lights and memories of him behind.

The car windows were closed, but it couldn't block out the sadness surging in my heart.

Returning to the empty apartment, the familiar silence enveloped me.

She didn't even have the energy to turn on the light, so she just slid down onto the floor with her back against the door.

The cold touch came from behind, but it was far less than the chill in my heart.

In the darkness, Chu Ci's back as he sat alone in the barbecue restaurant, and the image of him chugging glass after glass of liquor, flashed uncontrollably before her eyes again and again.

Why was he there, the place he had once clearly shown his dislike for?

Why was he drinking alone? How could someone so relaxed and unfazed, like him, be...

Countless questions entangled her like vines, almost suffocating her.

She thought she had let it go, but just an unexpected encounter easily shattered all the peace she had painstakingly built up over a month.

Anger, grievance, and a hint of worry that she herself was unwilling to admit, all these emotions intertwined together and eventually turned into silent tears.

She buried her face deep in her knees, her shoulders trembling slightly in the darkness.

For her easily disturbed mood, and for the person who, even though they had broken up, could still affect her joys and sorrows so profoundly.

"Tang Yutong, try your best..."

She muttered to herself in a heavy nasal voice into the dark room, her voice filled with disappointment and powerlessness in herself.

She thought she had moved on, but she found that all her efforts would be wasted with just an unintentional appearance from him.

This realization made her feel more frustrated than the breakup itself.

In the darkness, Tang Yutong raised her hand to wipe away the tears on her face, a hint of bitter self-mockery on her lips.

When did she, Tang Yutong, become so useless?

Since she was a child, she knew that she was not a loyal person.

She has a good reason to like looking at handsome guys and admires different types of male stars like collecting stamps. This month she is obsessed with the gentle senior type, and next month she will fall in love with the wild wolfdog type.

Friends often tease her, calling her the "ultimate form of face-chasing," and she readily accepts this, confidently declaring:

"Everyone loves beauty. I'm just more honest."

She always believed that she would never give up the entire forest for a tree.

For her, love is the spice of life, a two-way happiness, and definitely not a shackle that binds herself.

But unfortunately, there is an exception: Chuci.

It was obvious that the time they actually spent together was so short, and it was obvious that his approach was for ulterior motives, which was to help his friend Lu Yiran pursue her best friend Yanyan.

His so-called "goodness" was nothing more than a carefully designed performance, a bait to lure her into the game.

She understood the truth, and when she was sober, she could even analyze and expose the script behind every gentle action of his.

But she still lost.

A complete defeat.

She actually gave away her true heart, which she had never given before, so easily just because of the little bit of kindness he pretended to be, the patience he deliberately tried to please, and the fake focused look in his eyes.

Her forest, which had never stopped for anyone, had foolishly and willingly hanged itself on his crooked tree.

Thinking of this, a sharp pain pierced my heart, even worse than the sadness just now.

This pain is mixed with anger at being deceived, but more of it is disappointment and disgust at one's own incompetence.

She was angry at him, and even more angry at herself.

She was angry at herself, a self-proclaimed free and easy "bad girl" who had fallen so hard and hurt so much right here with him.
