Chapter 139 Are you abusing me?
"Sang Ning, you're being too petty. You're going to divorce me over this?"
Sang Ning snapped out of her reverie and shook her head. "It's not just because of that, but because I don't want to live that kind of life anymore."
She looked at Jing Muchi and said, "Besides, you only married me to stop your mother from pressuring you to return to China. But now that you're back, you no longer need a docile wife as an excuse. What's wrong with us getting a divorce?"
On the night of their wedding, she overheard his conversation with his older brother, Jing Mingxu, outside the lounge.
Jing Mingxu said, "Your marriage is just a joke."
Jing Muchi's voice was somewhat nonchalant, "How am I being ridiculous? Marrying a docile and obedient little white rabbit is so much fun, it's enjoyable, reassuring, and it can also help deal with your mother, saving her from constantly nagging me to give up my career and return to China."
Jing Mingxu: "It's even more of a jerk to say that. You don't even like that girl."
"Tsk, isn't it enough that your wife is obedient, well-behaved and sensible? Talking about whether you like her or not, or whether you love her or not, is so childish. Brother, how old are you? How can you still be so naive?"
——
Sang Ning then realized that Jing Muchi had chosen her from among a group of socialites to appease his mother, and because she seemed docile and easy to manipulate.
However, he was indeed very trustworthy. After the marriage, he asked Jing Mingxu to treat her grandfather's illness and provided him with the best medical environment and equipment. Sang Ning was very grateful to him, so after the marriage, she tried her best to be the kind of wife he hoped for.
Well-behaved, obedient, and sensible.
It's been three years.
Now that his career has shifted back to China and he will no longer reside abroad for extended periods, he no longer needs to use her as an excuse to appease his mother. Sang Ning feels that she has finally repaid the favor she owed him.
Now, she just wants to be herself again.
Be a person with your own job, earning money through your own abilities, and living with dignity, instead of being a puppet whose every word, action, and even thought is forcibly shackled by the identity of the fourth young mistress of the Jing family.
His mother was right; she was not good enough for him at all.
Giving him his freedom now can be considered the final reward for him.
"What's so good about it?" Jing Muchi scoffed. "If I get a divorce, I'll be a second-time divorcee. Do you know that makes me look worthless?"
"No, don't worry. Your mother said she will find you a daughter from a prestigious family soon. Before long, you will find a good wife who is more compatible with you in every way."
Upon hearing this, Jing Muchi's face turned extremely ugly.
"Oh!"
He looked at her, his eyes trembling slightly with anger. "Judging from your tone, it seems you actually hope I'll marry someone else soon?"
Sang Ning felt a pang of pain in her heart, but she still put on a generous and dignified smile. "Even though we've broken up, I still sincerely hope that you can marry the girl you love and live a happy life."
Jing Muchi suddenly stood up, his bloodshot eyes fixed on her, gritting his teeth, "Sang Ning, you really know how to infuriate people!"
After saying that, he strode out angrily.
The door slammed shut with a loud bang, and Sang Ning's heart skipped a beat.
She stared blankly at the closed door, lost in thought.
She didn't know how much time had passed until her phone rang, which brought her back to her senses.
She walked over, picked up her phone, and saw that it was Qin Shuzhi calling her.
"Hey, Shuzhi."
Whether Qin Shuzhi on the other end noticed her unusual mood or not, she paused for a moment before cautiously asking, "Sang Ning, are you... alright?"
Sang Ning quickly composed herself and said calmly, "I'm fine."
Seeing her say that, Qin Shuzhi didn't ask any more questions. "Do you have any plans for the weekend? If not, shall we go shopping? I'll show you around Jiangcheng."
After the argument with Jing Muchi, Sang Ning felt a bit tired and didn't really want to go out. But she knew Qin Shuzhi meant well, so she said, "I still need to write some lesson plans today. How about we meet tomorrow afternoon?"
Qin Shuzhi said, "Okay, then it's agreed."
*
Sang Ning thought that, given Jing Muchi's personality, he would definitely not come to her place again if she made him angry. However, just after eleven o'clock, the doorbell rang.
When she opened the door and saw Jing Muchi, she was momentarily at a loss for words, since the two had just parted on bad terms.
To everyone's surprise, the man walked in as if nothing had happened and sat down lazily in the small living room.
Then he says, "I'm hungry."
He looked up at Sang Ning with a resentful expression, "You made me so angry that I didn't even eat breakfast."
Sanning:? ? ?
Didn't he just come back from outside?
You're hungry but don't know to buy something to eat?
She pursed her lips and asked softly, "There are still dumplings and buns from this morning. Do you want me to heat them up for you?"
Are you abusing me?
Jing Muchi looked displeased and gestured towards the wall clock with his lip. "It's almost lunchtime, didn't you see? You cook for me."
He knew that Sang Ning could cook.
"All right."
Sang Ning had no objections. Even if he wasn't coming back, she had planned to cook dinner in half an hour anyway.
Jing Muchi watched her go into the kitchen, tie her hair up with a hair clip, put on a yellow apron, and start rummaging through the refrigerator.
After flipping through the dishes a few times, she suddenly paused, then poked her head out to look at him. "The food at home was prepared beforehand. Can you accept that?"
She almost forgot that he was always very picky about food.
But Jing Muchi was unusually tolerant at this moment, replying, "Okay."
Sang Ning nodded and continued searching for ingredients.
Then rustling sounds began to come from the kitchen.
Half an hour later, the aroma of rice and vegetables wafted from the kitchen, filling the small house with a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Looking at the busy figures inside, Jing Muchi felt much of the pent-up frustration he had felt that morning dissipate.
Twenty minutes later.
A light meal with a balanced mix of meat and vegetables was served.
Stir-fried eggs with tomatoes, stir-fried lotus root, stir-fried pork slices with oyster mushrooms, and steamed pork ribs.
The two sat down to eat, and Jing Muchi tasted it; it was quite delicious.
"You go to work at the school, and then come home and cook for yourself every night?"
“Okay,” Sang Ning said, “It’s cleaner and more hygienic to eat at home.”
Moreover, it can save some money on living expenses.
"After a long day at work, you still have to spend more than an hour in the kitchen. Aren't you tired? Don't you know how to hire a housekeeper to cook?" Jing Muchi scolded.
"You don't even know how to spend money, do you think you're stupid?"
Hearing this, Sang Ning paused for a moment, looked up at him with a puzzled expression, then lowered her eyes again as if remembering something, and simply said:
"It doesn't take an hour. I usually only make one dish, so it's very quick."
Jing Muchi asked, "Then why are there four dishes today?"
According to her standards, shouldn't adding one more dish be enough just because there's one more person?
Sang Ning looked up at him and said softly, "I was afraid you wouldn't like the taste, so I made two more."
Upon hearing this, the last bit of frustration in Jing Muchi's heart vanished instantly.
"Hmph, at least you still have some conscience."
He spoke with an arrogant and haughty air, but the corners of his eyes were practically pointing to the sky.
