Chapter 157 You don't like me, so why won't you get a divorce?

Sunday evening.

Sang Ning returned from school at nearly ten o'clock.

When I got home, unsurprisingly, someone started bothering me.

"You're back? Are you hungry? I ordered some late-night snacks, have some..."

Sang Ning ignored him, walked into the room and slammed the door shut, cutting off his voice.

That night, she asked Jing Muchi to leave, but he refused. Since she couldn't get rid of him, Sang Ning simply ignored him, treating him like he was invisible. But he didn't seem to mind and stubbornly stayed with her.

However, he didn't go into her room like before, but instead slept on that sofa that even she felt was too small for several days in a row.

It's still chilly in early spring, and the weather is quite cold in the mornings and evenings.

Sang Ning couldn't understand him either. How could a young master who usually complained that the 1.5-meter bed in her room was hard and uncomfortable have the willpower to stay on that small sofa for so many nights?

She leaned against the door of the room, her gaze falling on the desk calendar.

In two more days, it will truly be over for them.

*

Jing Muchi looked at the closed door, sighed dejectedly, turned around and returned to the sofa, slumping against the neatly folded quilt.

This was the first night he slept on the sofa. Sang Ning felt sorry for him because he was only covered with a suit jacket, so she threw it out to him.

She clearly cares about him a lot, but she just won't talk to him.

Jing Muchi sighed, staring blankly at the unopened late-night snack on the table.

Suddenly, the bedroom door opened, and Sang Ning came out.

Jing Muchi suddenly sat up straight, looking at her with a mixture of surprise and delight as she walked towards him.

“Ningning…”

Sang Ning stood in front of him. "I have something to tell you."

"Okay, sit down and talk."

She hadn't even glanced at him these past few days, but now that she was taking the initiative to talk to him, Jing Muchi didn't care what she was going to say and excitedly reached out to pull her to sit down next to him.

"Are you hungry? Eat something first. I bought your favorite mung bean soup, it's still hot..."

Seeing him eagerly open the bag outside, Sang Ning said, "No need, I'm not hungry."

Jing Muchi could only stop what he was doing, turn around and look at her, "Then... what do you want to tell me?"

Sang Ning glanced at him, calmed herself down, and then said calmly, "Next Tuesday, we can go get our divorce certificate."

Upon hearing this, Jing Muchi's expression changed.

"Are you free to come the day after tomorrow? If so, let's go back to Beijing..."

"I'm not free the day after tomorrow."

Upon hearing this, Sang Ning paused, then thought for a moment, realizing she didn't have many classes on Wednesday, and asked again, "What about Wednesday?"

"I don't have time either."

Jing Muchi turned his face away.

Sang Ning frowned. "Then tell me, when can you spare the time recently?"

"I'm going abroad for a month and I won't have any free time."

You haven't had a free month?

Sang Ning frowned even more deeply. "Jing Muchi, what do you mean by this?"

Seeing her darkening expression, Jing Muchi reached out and took her hand. "Wife, let's not get a divorce, okay?"

Sang Ning pulled her hand back, stood up abruptly, and said with a serious expression, "Don't joke around, okay? We're just one step away from getting our marriage certificate."

Jing Muchi also stood up, "But we haven't received them yet, have we?"

"Stop messing around."

Sang Ning said firmly, "Even if we haven't gone to get the papers yet, our divorce is already a done deal."

"What do you mean by 'set a deal'? I withdrew the divorce application a long time ago, so you won't be able to get a divorce certificate when you go back."

Upon hearing this, Sang Ning's head buzzed, and she took two steps back in shock, staring at him in disbelief. "...What did you say?"

When Jing Muchi blurted out his words and saw her reaction, and met her eyes which were gradually reddening and rising with anger, he felt a pang of guilt.

"What do you mean... you withdrew the divorce application a long time ago?"

"Ningning."

Jing Muchi tried to take her hand, "Let me explain..."

Why did you do this?

Sang Ning angrily brushed his hand away, her voice trembling and choked with emotion as she questioned him.

"Jing Muchi, what am I to you? Just a little cat or dog for you to tease?"

Jing Muchi's pupils constricted sharply, and he hurriedly shook his head, "Of course not..."

“You came to the Civil Affairs Bureau with me to process the divorce, and then you withdrew the divorce application behind my back, making me swallow my anger and put up with you for more than a month. Do you think it's fun to play with people like this?”

Sang Ning finished speaking in one breath, her chest heaving violently with anger.

"No, that's not how it is."

Seeing the tears blurring her vision behind her glasses, Jing Muchi's heart tightened. He quickly stepped forward, grasped her shoulders, and comforted her while explaining, "I wasn't trying to tease you. I... I just don't want to be separated from you. I don't want a divorce..."

"How could you be such a bastard?"

Sang Ning forcefully pushed him away, sobbing as she cried out, "Have you ever respected me at all?"

Divorce is a matter between two people. Why should he be able to withdraw his application without her consent, or even without her knowledge, just because he says he doesn't want to divorce?

This was the first time Jing Muchi had ever seen her so emotionally out of control. Seeing tears streaming down her cheeks, he felt a pang of heartache and panic, looking at her helplessly.

"Please, please don't cry..."

He reached out to wipe away her tears.

"Don't touch me."

Sang Ning forcefully slapped his hand away and pushed him toward the door, yelling, "Get out! Get out!"

Jing Muchi hadn't expected to make her cry. Knowing he was in the wrong, he didn't dare resist. As he was being pushed out, he turned back and pleaded, "Ningning, don't do this, let's talk this out..."

"What's there to say? What's there to say?"

Sang Ning grabbed his shirt sleeve with one hand and reached for the door with the other, saying, "You don't even like me, so why won't you get a divorce?"

Upon hearing this, Jing Muchi looked at her in shock and astonishment.

Who told you I don't like you?

If he didn't like her, why would he stubbornly refuse to divorce her?

Jing Muchi was still in a daze when the woman pushed him away.

"You said it yourself."

Sang Ning angrily threw out a sentence.

Jing Muchi's eyes widened: "When did I say that..."

"Bang!"

His remaining words were cut off by the slamming door.

Jing Muchi paused for a moment, then immediately raised his hand and knocked on the door, "Ningning, could you please open the door first?"

"Go away, I don't want to see you."

An angry woman's voice came from inside.

Jing Muchi patted his pockets, realizing he didn't have his keys with him, so he could only plead in a soft voice, "Wife, please open the door, let's talk this out, okay?"

"I apologize to you. I shouldn't have withdrawn the application without telling you."

"Please open the door and give me a chance to admit my mistake, okay?"

...

Sang Ning had just calmed down when she heard the man outside begging her to open the door, but she didn't respond to him at all.

Previously, she had been tolerant of him, thinking that she would endure him for a month and then they would get a divorce certificate and go their separate ways. But now that the divorce application has been withdrawn, she doesn't want to let the wolf into her house again.

"Honey, it's so cold outside. Could you at least open the door and get me a coat?"

Hearing the sounds outside, Sang Ning's gaze fell on the curtains by the window, which were swaying gently in the wind.

The wind has been strong these past few days, and the temperature has indeed dropped a bit at night. Thinking that he was kicked out wearing a shirt, Sang Ning's hands, which were hanging at his sides, clenched slightly.

"Honey, I'm so cold~"

A man's pitiful voice came from outside the door.

Sang Ning took a deep breath and said ruthlessly, "If you're cold, hurry up and leave. Go find your assistant, don't look for me."

Once the door is open, he might just stay here and refuse to leave.

After a while, there was no more noise outside. Sang Ning looked out through the peephole on the door and saw that it was empty.

He finally left.
