Chapter 103 Door-to-Door Questioning

Upon hearing this, Zhiwan and Zhiruo ran out of the room together, followed by Jiawang's mother and Luo Tianhe.

"Jiawang, what did you say?"

"I was just about to go play at the entrance with Yiming when we heard someone outside shouting that Caishen Street has reopened and we can do business normally again, so we came back to tell you."

Upon hearing this, Luo Tianhe looked at Zhiwan with disbelief.

"Zhiwan, did you hear that? Caishen Street has been reopened."

Zhiwan asked with some concern:

"How could the restrictions be lifted so suddenly? How is this possible? How is this possible?"

"I heard... that someone paid the protection money and fines owed by Caishen Street for many years."

Who will pay this money?

Leng Chuchen?

Her first thought was Leng Chuchen; only he could pull off something so extravagant and wealthy.

"Splash splash splash..."

Just then, a series of firecrackers went off outside. Jiawang and Yiming rushed out to see what was happening. Luo Tianhe couldn't wait to say:

"Could it be true? And people are even setting off firecrackers to celebrate?"

But when the family arrived at the door, they were surprised to find that it was their neighbor who was setting off the firecrackers.

Just as Zhiwan was wondering what was going on, she looked up and saw Liping and Hu Ke covering their ears, while Leng Chuchen stood at the door, winking at her.

Seeing this scene, she felt like she was suffocating.

Luo Tianhe turned around angrily, plopped down in a chair next to the consultation table, and roared:

"What are they trying to do? Are they trying to haunt us?"

Seeing this, Jiawang's mother quickly went forward to comfort him.

"Tianhe, I just checked. It seems they bought that shop and even put up a plaque that says 'Chenwan Heming Cloth Shop'."

"This is outrageous! For the crown prince of a nation to do such childish things here is a tragedy for our celestial empire!"

Zhiwan stood there, her brows furrowed.

She never dreamed that Leng Chuchen would resort to such a tactic.

They even wrote her name and Yiming's name on the plaque.

There's no way to shake them off.

Luo Tianhe suddenly raised his hand.

"Let's go, let's drive them away."

Jiawang's mother quickly stepped forward and pressed him down into a chair.

"Why are you kicking them out? They're just running a business; they're not taking up your space or getting in your way."

"But...but they did it on purpose."

"So what if it's intentional? We can only guarantee that he won't come to our house, but we can't guarantee that he'll stay in his own home!"

"He is the Crown Prince. His opening of this shop is clearly for Zhiwan and Yiming."

"So what? Even if we know his purpose, it's not a reason to kick him out. That's unreasonable."

"this……"

Luo Tianhe was speechless for a moment. Seeing that the sound of firecrackers outside had stopped, Zhiwan frowned and whispered:

'I'll go take a look.'

After saying that, she stepped out the door. As soon as she reached the door, she saw Leng Chuchen giving candy to Yiming. Although Jiawang looked unwilling, he also reached out and took the candy from him.

She walked quickly over and instructed Jiawang and Yiming:

"You all go back first."

Jiawang's face immediately turned red, while Yiming stuck out his tongue and winked at Jiawang. The two of them then turned and ran back to the Luo family.

Seeing that Zhiwan had taken the initiative to come to him, Leng Chuchen's face was filled with a smug look.

"Manager Luo, we'll be neighbors from now on, please take good care of me."

Zhiwan ignored him and went straight into the fabric shop. Liping and Hu Ke, seeing this, hurried over to greet her.

"Miss Luo, please take a look. Which piece of fabric do you like? It's all free. Take it whenever you like."

They're not stupid; they know that if they flatter her now, they'll have good days ahead.

Zhiwan frowned and turned to look at Leng Chuchen.

"Why open a shop here? You are the Crown Prince. You should go back to your capital and do your great things, instead of opening a shop here and living this idle life."

Leng Chuchen shrugged indifferently.

"Who says I'm doing nothing? I'm learning how to do business and how to manage a country."

"You come here to open a run-down shop and you say you're learning to manage a country? That's laughable."

"Only by managing the shop well can we manage the country well. By the way, we'll be neighbors from now on, so we should help each other out if needed!"

She glanced at him again, her eyes sparkling with allure.

"Tell me, how much silver did you give to the government?"

Before he could speak, Li Ping stepped forward with a smirk and said:

"My young master paid 6,500 taels of silver to the government to open this shop, and only then was Caishen Street allowed to reopen. Look! The receipt is still here."

"Shut up."

Seeing that Zhiwan's face turned ugly, Leng Chuchen gave Li Ping a light shout, which startled Li Ping and made him a little flustered.

He originally thought that if he told Zhiwan the truth, she would feel that the young master cared about her and was willing to spend so much money for her.

Unexpectedly, his attempt to flatter backfired, and he ended up making a fool of himself.

Zhiwan gritted her teeth and glared at Leng Chuchen, nodding as she smiled mockingly:

“You have plenty of money, and it’s your business if you want to spend it however you want. But what will happen after you open this door? Are we going to have to pay five taels of silver to the government every month just to open for business? Do you know that a shop like ours only makes a net profit of ten or eight taels a month? Some businesses are so bad that they can’t even afford the five taels to pay the government. Do you think you’re helping us? You’re harming us.”
