Chapter 13 Greetings, Lord City Lord

Xie Jiaxun's mental state after his relapse was no different from before, so he quickly gestured for Luo Zhiwan to proceed.

"Please come in, young lady."

Luo Zhiwan didn't stand on ceremony and strode into the City Lord's Mansion, which she had just struggled to enter.

On the way, the Xie family asked her for her name and address, and she answered truthfully. Anyway, it was far from Willow Lane, so he probably wouldn't hear the rumors about her.

As he had imagined, Xie Jiaxun only knew Willow Lane; he had never even heard of the Luo Family Pharmacy.

As the two of them were talking, they arrived at the entrance of the main hall of the city lord's mansion.

Xie Jiaxun told Luo Zhiwan to wait outside for a while, and he went in alone to inform them.

This was Luo Zhiwan's first time visiting such a grand mansion as the City Lord's Mansion, so she was very curious about its architecture and furnishings.

Just as she was looking around, Xie Jiaxun came out.

"Miss Luo, my father invites you in."

She smiled gently and followed his directions into the main hall of the city lord's mansion.

Not only was the city lord Xie Tianyang sitting in the main seat, but there were also two officials in official robes sitting on either side of him. They must be talking about something!

She walked to the center of the main hall, stood still, and bowed slightly.

"Greetings, Lord City Lord. I am Luo Zhiwan from the Luo Family Pharmacy on Yanglin Street."

The city lord was a middle-aged man around fifty years old. After scanning Luo Zhiwan with his shrewd eyes, he nodded.

"I heard from Xun'er that you wanted to see me. What is it?"

Xie Jiaxun also whispered a reminder.

"Just tell me what's wrong. My dad is a very good person, he'll take care of it for you."

Luo Zhiwan knew that there were many people here, and if she spoke her mind, she would definitely be ridiculed by them.

But she's already here; if she doesn't tell me, then my trip would be for nothing.

Thinking of this, she cleared her throat, raised her voice, and said slowly:

"Lord City Lord, could you please order the four city gates to be sealed off tomorrow night?"

"What?"

Upon hearing her words, Xie Tianyang was taken aback at first, then looked at the two officials, and then the three of them burst into laughter.

Luo Zhiwan had anticipated this scene. She looked at Xie Tianyang with a serious expression and solemnly said again:

"Lord Xie, I'm not joking with you. I'm telling the truth. Tomorrow afternoon, you must order the city to be sealed off. To ensure everything goes smoothly, you need to make preparations early today and have the personnel deployed in advance..."

Her words not only made Xie Tianyang and his two officials laugh, but Xie Jiaxun was also completely baffled.

He leaned close to Luo Zhiwan and whispered:

"Miss Luo, you said you had important business to discuss with my father, is this what it is?"

Luo Zhiwan nodded solemnly.

"Yes, that's it, and it's very serious."

“Miss Luo, you’re making a mountain out of a molehill. Phoenix City has enjoyed good weather and abundant harvests in recent years, and the people live prosperous lives. There has never been a war, nor has there ever been a precedent of a city being sealed off for no reason. It’s no wonder that my father and the two officials are puzzled by your sudden statement. I also find it very puzzling.”

"Young Master Xie, I have no way to explain this matter further. I can only beg Lord Xie to listen to my words and make arrangements for the city's lockdown tomorrow afternoon as soon as possible..."

Xie Tianyang's lips twitched slightly, and he let out a soft hum.

"Xun'er, you just said that this Miss Luo saved you, and I believed you. For your sake, I allowed her to come closer and speak, but what kind of nonsense is she spouting? A bunch of rubbish! Humph! Quickly give her some silver and send her out of the manor!"

"Thank you, City Lord..."

Luo Zhiwan suddenly raised her voice, her face flushed, and shouted:

"I don't need any money. I'll say it one last time: if you don't prepare as I say, you'll regret it. Besides, you only need to make simple arrangements. Even if nothing happens tomorrow, you won't lose anything. That's all I have to say. Lord Xie, whether you're willing to do as I say is entirely up to you. Farewell!"

After saying those words, she nodded slightly, turned around gracefully, and walked straight towards the door.

Seeing this, Xie Jiaxun didn't have time to say another word to Xie Tianyang before turning around and following him out.

Her sudden words made Xie Tianyang puzzled, and the other two officials looked at each other in confusion.

He glanced at the other two, wanting to laugh, but held it in.

"My lords, in your opinion, how credible is this girl's story?"

One of the older officials, stroking his chin with one hand and frowning, said:

"In my humble opinion, it's better to believe it's true than not. This young lady dared to say these words in front of the city lord, so her words must not be baseless."

Another, younger official, however, scoffed dismissively.

"It's just the crazy talk of a woman, with almost zero credibility. In my opinion, there's no need to take it seriously."

The two officials present gave conflicting accounts, leaving Xie Tianyang momentarily at a loss for what to do.

After a moment's hesitation, he suddenly shouted outside.

"Someone, go to Willow Grove Lane and investigate this Miss Luo's background..."

Luo Zhiwan's attitude was resolute just now, and her words were firm and powerful, not like she was talking nonsense, which made Luo Tianyang suspicious...

After Luo Zhiwan came out of the main hall, Xie Jiaxun walked with her, saying as he spoke:

"Miss Luo, don't worry, I'll talk to my father later."

She shook her head helplessly.

"I know what I'm saying is ridiculous and might arouse suspicion, but I'm telling the truth. Anyway, there's no point in talking to you. Let's go find the old lady and get her a prescription."

At this point, she suddenly stopped and looked at him.

"Young Master Xie, do you trust the prescription I wrote? If you don't, I won't bother with it."
