Chapter 5 The Astute Jiawang

Jiawang ran over quickly, and she took a step and ran impatiently towards her father's room.

These past few days, due to poor business at the herbal medicine shop, Luo Tianhe has lost his appetite and become quite thin.

At this moment, although he was lying in bed, he was not sleepy at all. His mind was filled with thoughts of what he should do if the herbal medicine shop did not open for business tomorrow.

"father……"

Zhiwan's voice came through the phone. Luo Tianhe frowned slightly, then sat up in bed, looked at her, and sighed.

What are you doing here?

Luo Zhiwan knew that her father had actually treated her quite well over the years, but he was an indecisive and timid person.

"Father, there's something I need to discuss with you."

Luo Tianhe looked up at her, his gaze icy as he nodded.

"Speak!"

He seemed completely uninterested in what she was about to say.

"Father, I want to purchase a batch of medicinal herbs..."

Before she could finish speaking, Luo Tianhe gave a disdainful snort.

"Our Luo family pharmacy has a stockpile of medicinal herbs that we can't sell, and there aren't many pharmacy shops in the entire Phoenix City that are doing well. You still want to buy more? What are you going to do with them? Eat them?"

"Father, let's not rush to sell these medicinal herbs; let's stock up on them first..."

Luo Tianhe immediately gave a soft snort.

"Hmph! That's wishful thinking. This is the season when medicinal herbs are most expensive. Can we afford to hoard them? Besides, other people hoard gold and silver. Why are you hoarding medicinal herbs? Are you just going to let them get moldy and grow mildew before throwing them away?"

"Father, I guarantee that within ten days, our medicinal herbs will be in short supply. When that happens, we can resell the herbs we've acquired and make a fortune."

"snort!"

Luo Tianhe snorted coldly again.

"I overheard people talking outside the pharmacy today, saying that the eldest daughter of the Luo family has gone mad. I thought it was just those gossipy women spreading rumors, but now it seems you really have gone mad, sigh!"

"Father, I'm not crazy, please listen to me just this once!"

"Alright, whether you're crazy or not, stop this idea! Besides, we're already struggling to even have enough to eat and drink, where would we find the money to buy medicine? Stop daydreaming."

After saying this, Luo Tianhe waved his hand impatiently.

"Go down, I'm tired."

He immediately lay down on the bed, closed his eyes, clearly indicating that he didn't want to waste words with her.

Luo Zhiwan stood there, readjusted her breathing, and then suddenly had an idea.

Since we can't reason with Dad, let's go to Mom. Maybe it'll be easier to get things done through her.

She went to the kitchen, pulled her mother out, and said to her mysteriously:

"Mother, do you want to earn money? A lot of money?"

Jiawang's mother raised her hand and gently stroked her forehead.

"Zhiwan, they all say you've gone mad, but I don't believe it. Is your mind really not working properly?"

Luo Zhiwan pulled her mother's hand off her forehead.

"Mother, listen to me. I have a way to make money, but I don't have the money to invest. Please help me. When I make money, I'll give you half of it."

Jiawang's mother immediately shook her head.

"Our pharmacy only earns enough to eat and live on, there's no money left over. Don't think about such things. Go and clear the dishes and get ready to eat."

It seems there really is no money left in the house. Where can we get some money from?

She stood there, pondering for a long while, then pulled her mother back from the kitchen.

"Mother, could you lend me the house deed and land deed for a short time? Just ten days, that'll be fine."

As soon as she finished speaking, Jiawang's mother shook her head vigorously.

"No, no, that's the lifeblood of the Luo family. We can't lend it. Don't even think about it. I think you're really not thinking straight."

At this point, Jiawang's mother shook her head and sighed, muttering to herself,

"Have your father call Doctor Hu over to take a look at you later. You're so young and you've gone mad. What are we going to do?"

Her father suspected she was crazy, her mother suspected she was crazy, everyone suspected she was crazy. But how was she crazy? She just wanted to earn money to prove herself…

She went out for a walk, but as dusk approached, she hadn't raised a single penny.

She returned to her room dejectedly. Jiawang, seeing her come back, hurried over to greet her.

"Big sister, Yiming can really sleep. He hasn't woken up yet."

She nodded listlessly, then sat down at the table, propped her chin on one hand, and began to worry.

Jiawang noticed she seemed preoccupied and asked in a low voice:

"Big sister, what's wrong? Did someone bully you again?"

She bit her lip and shook her head in disappointment.

"No, Jiawang, do you think my older sister is crazy?"

"It doesn't look like it!"

Why won't my parents believe me? What should I do?

Jiawang leaned closer to her, rested his head on the table, and asked curiously,

"Big sister, what happened?"

She sighed.

"I've thought of a way to make money, but my father and mother don't believe me. I don't have any money, so I'm willing but unable to do anything about it!"

Jiawang shrugged helplessly.

"It seems our family really doesn't have much savings. Father and Mother believe you can't come up with any money either!"

“But when I asked my mother if I could use the house deed and the license for the herbal medicine shop as collateral, she disagreed.”

"What? Big sister, are you really crazy? Using the house deed and the herbal medicine shop as collateral? If this business fails, our whole family will be living on the streets and starving!"

Seeing that Jiawang also thought she was crazy, she instantly felt a mix of laughter and tears, resting her head on the table and sobbing.

"Why doesn't anyone believe me? I'm not crazy, I'm not crazy, I guarantee I can make money, it will only take ten days or so!"
