Chapter 52 Suspecting her?

She didn't want to say another word to him, which was exactly what he wanted. Anyway, he wasn't a talkative person, except when he was with Yiming.

They walked one after the other on Yanglin Street, without glancing at each other or exchanging a single word.

Soon, they arrived at the residence where Leng Chuchen lived. This was probably the best courtyard in the far suburbs of the capital. It was said that they originally wanted to rent this courtyard, but the owner disagreed, so they bought it at a high price.

As Luo Zhiwan entered, she couldn't help but purse her lips, thinking to herself: They really are rich and powerful. Buying this courtyard must have cost at least several thousand taels of silver!

"Dr. Luo, this way please."

Leng Chuchen gestured, and when she looked up, she saw that the courtyard was extremely clean, but even so, there were still several servants cleaning it.

Guided by Leng Chuchen, she walked through a corridor and then through a moon gate before arriving at the backyard.

Just then, a sweet voice rang in their ears.

"Brother Chen, you're back!"

Upon hearing the call, Leng Chuchen's brows furrowed slightly. Zhiwan looked up and saw a woman standing there, with a pure and beautiful appearance.

She wore a light purple silk dress, her waist was as slender as a willow, and her shoulders were as delicate as a carved jade. She ran towards this place with a charming smile.

She approached them, sized up Luo Zhiwan, a hint of displeasure in her eyes, then looked at Leng Chuchen with burning eyes.

"Brother Chen, who is this?"

"He is Doctor Luo..."

"Doctor Luo? That legendary Physician Luo from Phoenix City?"

"Exactly!"

"Hahaha……"

Yue Xiaoyue suddenly laughed.

"Brother Chen, she's just a woman. You call her a miracle doctor? You probably just hired someone randomly to fool... fool my great-aunt, right?"

Leng Chuchen's face darkened, and she immediately reprimanded him.

"Xiaoyue, you mustn't be rude."

Just then, a dignified and elegant middle-aged woman walked out of a door. Upon seeing the three people there, she frowned slightly and asked:

"Chen'er, has the doctor arrived?"

Leng Chuchen nodded hurriedly, "Mother, this is the renowned physician, Doctor Luo."

When Empress Qi saw Luo Zhiwan, her eyes also showed disappointment and blame towards Leng Chuchen.

However, she didn't show it immediately; instead, she nodded with a cold look in her eyes.

"Alright, please let the doctor in!"

Clearly, she didn't trust Luo Zhiwan, or rather, she felt that this trip would be a waste of time.

Luo Zhiwan walked towards Empress Qi. Leng Chuchen was about to follow when Yue Xiaoyue stopped her.

"Brother Chen, I'm new to Phoenix City, can you show me around?"

Leng Chuchen frowned deeply and immediately pulled out her sleeve.

"I have something to do, you go by yourself!"

After saying that, he eagerly followed Zhiwan and Empress Qi, leaving Yue Xiaoyue there pouting and sulking.

Guided by Empress Qi, Zhiwan arrived at the Empress Dowager's bedside. She waved her hand, and the servants guarding the bedside quietly bowed and withdrew one by one.

She pointed to the Empress Dowager lying on the bed, dozing with her eyes half-closed, and introduced her impatiently:

"This is my mother-in-law. If you know how to treat illnesses, then take a look at her. If you don't, then leave as soon as possible and don't pretend to know what you're doing and disturb her peaceful sleep."

With just this one sentence, Zhiwan instantly lost her goodwill towards this young master Chu's mother.

“Madam Chu, if you don’t trust me, you don’t have to invite me here. My clinic is very busy and doesn’t need another patient. Farewell.”

After saying those words, she turned to leave, but Leng Chuchen quickly grabbed her.

"Doctor Luo, my mother always thought Doctor Luo was a wise and venerable old man. Perhaps she saw that you were too young, so she said something unpleasant to hear. Please don't take it to heart."

After comforting Zhiwan, he turned to Empress Qi and reminded her with displeasure.

“Mother, although Doctor Luo is young, her medical skills are renowned far and wide. She rarely comes to our homes for consultations. I had to visit her three times to persuade her to come. Please respect her.”

Empress Qi gave a disdainful snort.

“Every quack doctor says this: you can only know how good their medical skills are by seeing them.”

Zhiwan frowned slightly. In all her years of practicing medicine, this was the first time she had ever met someone who distrusted her medical skills and was so rude to her.

If it weren't for wanting to cure Chu Chen's grandmother's illness as soon as possible and get him back to the capital, she really wouldn't have wanted to come.

The old lady lying on the bed woke up at this moment. She opened her eyes weakly, glanced at Zhiwan, sighed, and closed her eyes again.

Zhiwan sat on the round stool by the bed, took out a pulse pillow from the medicine box and placed it down, then took her hand and began to take her pulse.

Leng Chuchen stared intently at her hand, his brows furrowing deeply.

Empress Qi, however, still looked down on this female doctor.

She had never seen a female clerk before, let alone one so young.

The imperial physicians in the palace were all helpless in treating the Empress Dowager's illness. If she could cure the Empress Dowager's illness, it would truly be a miracle.

After a short while, she withdrew her hand, put the pulse pillow away, returned it to the medicine box, and stood up to look at Leng Chuchen.

"The old lady is in good health, but she is deficient in qi and blood and malnourished..."

Before she could finish speaking, Empress Qi immediately gave a soft snort.

“Chen’er, look, this is what every doctor says when taking a patient’s pulse. If she can be considered a miracle doctor, then there is really no one else in this Heavenly Dynasty. Quickly give her the consultation fee and ask her to leave.”

Luo Zhiwan frowned slightly, ignored her, and continued speaking to Leng Chuchen:

"Judging from the pulse, your grandmother's illness is dysphagia. She should usually have symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, chest and diaphragm pain, dry mouth and tongue, red tongue with greasy coating, constipation, dry skin, facial and foot swelling, and emaciation."
