Yiming nodded, his big eyes sparkling, and said reluctantly:
"Uncle Jiaxun, I will miss you."
After saying that, he leaned close to his ear and whispered:
"Uncle Jiaxun, can I ask you for a favor?"
Xie Jiaxun nodded hurriedly.
"Of course you can."
“I owe my Uncle Chen a secret. If he comes to me, please tell him for me. The secret I want to tell him is: my mother had a jade pendant that was exactly the same as his, but she pawned it and it's now at the Liu family pawnshop.”
Yiming's words left Xie Jiaxun completely bewildered, but he still nodded in agreement.
"Okay, I will definitely do it."
Yiming leaned close to his ear and whispered:
"Then don't tell anyone about this, not even my mother, except Uncle Chen."
How could Xie Jiaxun understand a child's thoughts, and how could he take a child's words seriously?
However, he still nodded in agreement.
"Don't worry, I will definitely keep my word."
At this moment, Zhiwan stepped forward and reminded her:
"Yiming, quickly say goodbye to Uncle Jiaxun, we have to get going."
Yiming then reluctantly hugged Xie Jiaxun's neck, "Uncle Jiaxun, until we meet again."
Luo Tianhe hurriedly stepped forward to pick him up, said goodbye to Xie Jiaxun again, and led him into the carriage. Luo Zhiwan sat on the carriage shaft, smiled at Xie Jiaxun, and then flicked the reins as they left the city gate.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Jiawang couldn't help but ask:
"Big sister, where are we going?"
"Heading south, wherever the road takes us."
“Last night, it seemed like my second sister didn’t sleep at all. This morning, I saw that her eyes were red.”
She let out a soft sigh and said helplessly:
"Everyone has to pay the price for their actions. She couldn't tell good people from bad and got cheated out of her money, so it's understandable that she's upset. Once we move to a different city and she forgets the past, everything will be alright."
"But... last night, I saw my second sister vomiting, and she didn't eat anything this morning. Is she suffering from a fever?"
Upon hearing this, Luo Zhiwan's heart leaped into her throat.
vomiting continuously?
Although she did not admit to being taken advantage of by the man named Mo Kai, she had met with him in secret on several occasions, so it is hard to say that she did something she shouldn't have done.
Thinking of this, her heart began to pound, and she was somewhat absent-minded all morning.
At noon, they stopped to rest on the road. Jiawang went to gather hay for the horses, while Luo Tianhe and Jiawang's mother took Yiming to catch crickets. Zhiruo sat blankly in the carriage, without saying a word.
After preparing the food, Zhiwan lifted the sedan curtain and called her.
"Zhiruo, come down and eat."
Zhiruo looked up at her with her red and swollen eyes, pursed her lips, and shook her head.
"Big sister, I'm not hungry."
"How can we not be hungry? Come down and get some fresh air, then have something to eat so we can get going."
Zhiruo, however, still shook her head vigorously.
"I'm really not hungry, I'm just a little tired."
Seeing that she refused to get off the carriage, Zhiwan simply lifted her skirt and got into the carriage. She took his hand and was about to check her pulse when Zhiruo pulled her hand back.
"Big sister, I'm fine, I'm really fine."
"Zhiruo, are you hiding something from me?"
Her panicked eyes seemed to confirm her suspicions.
Zhiruo shook her head in denial.
"Big sister, I'm fine. I just feel sorry for you, for Dad and Mom."
“Zhiruo, money is just an external thing. We can earn it back if we lose it. Using this money to see a person for who they really are is not a loss. As for you, if anything happens, don’t hide it from your elder sister. No matter what it is, your elder sister will help you.”
As she spoke, she forcefully pulled her hand over.
"Let me take your pulse."
"No need, sister."
Zhiruo forcefully pulled her hand back again and tucked her arm into her sleeve.
"Big sister, I'm really fine. I'll go get something to eat right now."
As she was speaking, she prepared to get up and get off the carriage, but at that moment, she felt dizzy and fell back to her seat.
“Zhiruo…”
She rushed forward to support her, then forcibly pulled her wrist to take her pulse.
As she expected, her pulse indicated pregnancy.
Seeing that she seemed to have discovered her secret, Zhiruo immediately sobbed and begged her.
"Big sister, I'm scared."
"Zhiruo, tell your older sister, did you have sex with that guy named Mo Kai? Are you pregnant with his child?"
When she asked directly, Zhiruo's tears fell in large drops.
"Big sister, I didn't expect it to turn out like this. I was wrong. Please don't tell Dad about this, he'll beat me to death."
"Do you know about Mo Kai?"
Zhiruo shook her head.
“I didn’t know before I went to the capital. I didn’t get my period that month while I was in prison, and that’s when I got scared. On the way back, I secretly went to a pharmacy to see a doctor, and it turned out I was pregnant. I thought I would tell Mo Kai about it when I got back and then bring him to see you, but who would have thought he would run away…”
As Zhiruo spoke, she cried, and before she could finish speaking, she was already sobbing uncontrollably.
Zhiwan felt as if her head had become enormous.
She's never been this agitated about her own affairs; at worst, she'd never get married.
But now that this has happened to Zhiruo, what should be done?
Are they going to stay with their children and never get married, just like the other sisters?
She reached out and pulled the sobbing Zhiruo into her arms, gently comforting her:
"Zhiruo, don't cry. What's done is done, there's no use crying now."
"Big sister, what should I do? Please help me get rid of this child!"
