The next day, when Luo Zhiwan woke up, she found that she was still in the same position as the night before, nestled in Leng Chuchen's arms with her head resting on his arm.
She glanced at him gently and saw that he was dozing off. She quietly got up, and Leng Chuchen quickly opened his eyes.
"You're awake?"
Seeing the drool on his arm, she nodded awkwardly.
"You've been sitting all night? You must be tired."
He shook his head, and just as he was about to raise his hand, he found that he could not feel his arm.
His brows furrowed for a moment, and Zhiwan quickly asked softly.
"What's wrong? Is your arm numb?"
He gave a wry smile.
"It feels numb, I can't feel anything."
"Don't move, let me rub it for you."
After saying that, she sat down next to him, supporting his arm with one hand and gently massaging him from top to bottom with the other, with meticulous care.
Her movements were very gentle. Watching her carefully massage his arm, a perfect smile curved his lips. He felt that not moving all night yesterday was worth it.
He couldn't help but close his eyes slightly, quietly enjoying the moment.
Are you feeling better?
Her voice came through, and he stirred slightly, quickly replying:
"No, but I feel a tingling sensation. Maybe it's working. Could you massage it for me again?"
"Okay, you too. Why don't you move around? If you stay in one position, it's no wonder your legs will go numb. Try standing up and walking around later; your legs will probably go numb too."
"Will you still massage it for me?"
"Because it's numb, of course I'll rub it. You can try again."
"Try it, see if it gets any better?"
She called his name twice, but he didn't respond.
She looked back and saw him lying asleep on the haystack.
It seems he really didn't sleep well last night.
She looked at him with great guilt, wanting to find something to cover him with, but there was nothing there except a pile of hay.
"Achoo..."
She covered her mouth tightly, ran to the side, and sneezed.
Leng Chuchen was probably too tired; the sneeze didn't affect him at all. It seems he really was exhausted.
...
Leng Chuchen and Luo Zhiwan were imprisoned and did not return home overnight. The door of the Luo family clinic remained sealed.
This greatly worried Luo Tianhe. He rushed to the fabric shop next door and saw Hu Ke and Li Ping cleaning as usual. He angrily questioned them.
"Your master is locked up in jail, aren't you worried at all? Why don't you go and rescue them?"
Seeing that he was very angry, Li Ping rushed over, pulled him to sit down in a chair, and then gently comforted him.
"Uncle Luo, please sit down for a while. Why are you so angry so early in the morning?"
Luo Tianhe snatched the teacup that was pushed towards him and placed it on the table, then sighed.
"How can I not be anxious? I just went to the prison to inquire, and they say there are rats there. Zhiwan has been afraid of rats since she was a child. How is she supposed to get through this night?"
"Isn't our young master here? Our young master isn't afraid of mice."
"I'm even more afraid when he's around, I'm scared..."
He wanted to say that he was afraid Leng Chuchen would take advantage of Zhiwan, but he swallowed the words back.
It's best not to say things that could damage your daughter's reputation.
Seeing that Luo Tianhe was sweating profusely with anxiety, Hu Ke stepped forward and comforted him:
"Uncle Luo, it's not that we don't want to save them, but if we reveal our young master's identity now, how will Miss Luo stay in Yong'an City afterward? Do you want to move away?"
Luo Tianhe sighed and asked again with concern,
"Then what should we do? Just let it go?"
"How could we ignore it? Censor Zhu will arrive in Yong'an City today. He will thoroughly investigate this case and eliminate all the corrupt officials in Yong'an City."
"real?"
Luo Tianhe seemed to see hope, yet also seemed unable to believe it.
"Aren't you lying to me?"
Li Ping also stepped forward and echoed this sentiment.
"Uncle Luo, how could we dare to lie to you? What Ke'er said is true. Lord Zhu is always there when he speaks. He knows our young master's identity. With him here, what do you have to worry about?"
"But……"
Even so, he was still very worried because Zhiwan hadn't returned.
Li Ping pushed the teacup towards him again, comforting him:
"Uncle Luo, please rest assured. I assure you that Miss Luo and our young master will return safely before dark today. By the way, I will come to call you when Lord Zhu arrives. Please bring your family, and we will go to the government office together to beat the drum and appeal for justice."
Although Luo Tianhe was skeptical, he seemed to have no other choice but to believe their words.
"Okay, okay, then I'll go back and wait for your letter."
"Don't worry, Uncle Luo, you can go back and wait."
After being reassured by Li Ping and Hu Ke, Luo Tianhe finally got up and left.
Hu Ke watched his retreating figure, pouting with envy.
"It's so good to have a father who cares. If I were thrown into prison, no one but you and the young master would be this worried."
Li Ping raised his hand and patted him on the shoulder.
"Didn't the young master say that he would find you a woman to settle down with soon, so that you'll have someone who cares about you more?"
"Oh!"
Hu Ke suddenly laughed.
"I would be content to serve you, young master, for the rest of my life. How could I possibly hope for any other woman!"
Li Ping shrugged, disagreeing.
"We're, after all, second-rank imperial guards with swords, and quite a few women want to marry us. Besides, we're not bad-looking..."
