Chapter 35 I Want to Open a Clinic

As she said this, she glanced at him out of the corner of her eye.

Judging from his level of curiosity towards her, she could roughly guess that he had developed subtle feelings for her.

He was a shy and naive boy, and she couldn't give him the wrong impression; she had to nip his thoughts in the bud.

Her words may have disappointed him. He pursed his lips, lowered his head to look at the ground, and continued to follow in her footsteps without saying another word.

He remained silent until they arrived at the entrance of the Luo family's pharmacy. Luo Zhiwan invited him inside to sit for a while, but he shook his head and declined.

"No, I'll go back and rest for a while. I'll come find you tomorrow morning so we can go find a school for Jiawang."

"Thank you, young master."

Just as he was about to turn his head, she called out to him.

"Young Master Xie, if you feel tired, you don't need to accompany me tomorrow. Jiawang and I can go."

He forced a smile, then shook his head.

"I'm not tired, anyway, it's no fun staying at home all the time."

After leaving those words, he turned and left. Luo Zhiwan glanced helplessly at his retreating figure before turning and entering the pharmacy.

The pharmacy was still very busy today; there were still a few people picking up their medicine.

Just as she was about to find a place to rest, she overheard a patient discussing something with Da Ming.

"Hey waiter, just tell me what medicine I should get for my symptoms."

"I'm not a doctor, and I don't know how to prescribe medicine. What can I say? Go find a doctor to prescribe medicine first, and then come and get the medicine according to the prescription."

"But the consultation fee is too expensive. If I go to get a prescription, I won't have money to buy the medicine."

"Well, there's nothing I can do about that. My job is just to sell the medicine."

"Young man, please be lenient with me!"

"No exceptions, next one."

Daming waved her away impatiently, and the old woman turned away in disappointment, shaking her head and sighing as she prepared to leave.

Luo Zhi called her to a stop earlier that evening.

"Auntie, where do you feel unwell?"

The old woman looked up, her cloudy eyes brimming with tears, and then she looked at Zhiwan as if grasping at a straw.

"Miss, are you Miss Buluo? I heard you know a little about medicine. Could you prescribe a medicine for me? I really don't have enough money to go to a clinic..."

At this point, the old woman raised her sleeve and kept wiping away her tears.

Luo Zhiwan frowned slightly and asked again.

Are you getting your own medicine?

"Um."

"This way, please. Let me take your pulse."

The old woman was taken aback at first, then looked at Luo Zhiwan excitedly.

"Thank you so much, young lady. Thank you so much!"

As she spoke, she followed Zhiwan to sit down on the side.

There was no pulse pillow available, so she rolled up her handkerchief and gestured for the old woman to place her hand on it before beginning to take her pulse.

"Sir, do you often feel palpitations, sometimes with a sudden increase in heart rate, accompanied by chest tightness and difficulty breathing?"

The old woman nodded repeatedly,

“Young lady, you’re absolutely right. You’re even better than a doctor. I have these symptoms. Sometimes my heart is pounding so hard that my whole body is shaking. My husband has been sick for a long time, and my son is a bit mentally challenged. I’m the only able-bodied person here. I thought it wasn’t a big deal, so I just toughed it out. But recently it’s gotten worse. Plus, I heard that the government gave the Luo family’s pharmacy a plaque with the words ‘Conscience Pharmacy’ on it. I guessed that the medicine prices couldn’t be too high, otherwise I wouldn’t dare to go into the pharmacy.”

This old woman's family situation is truly tragic.

She nodded immediately.

"Don't worry, the plaques issued by the government are not given out casually. I'll write you a prescription now. Go get the medicine, take a few doses and see if there's any improvement. If not, come back and I'll give you a different prescription."

Hearing this, the old woman finally felt relieved. She took out a handkerchief pouch from her bosom, slowly opened it, and inside were a few copper coins. Her hands trembled as she timidly asked:

"Girl, look at all these copper coins I have. I'll open as many sets as I need!"

Seeing how carefully she handled those few copper coins, Luo Zhiwan suddenly felt a lump in her throat and her eyes began to redden.

At her age, she should be enjoying her retirement, but it's so difficult for her to even take some medicine.

"Grandpa, how old are you?"

"I'm sixty-three."

"That's wonderful! Our pharmacy offers assistance to seniors over sixty who are facing financial difficulties. They can provide free medical consultations and free prescriptions. I'll write you a prescription now, so please go and get your medicine. If you don't feel better after taking it, just come back for more."

Upon hearing this, the old woman looked at her with disbelief.

"Girl, are you telling the truth?"

"Yes, and if your uncle needs medicine, he can come and get it, but only for his own use."

"girl……"

The old woman suddenly stood up from her chair, took a few steps back, and knelt down on both knees.

"Girl, I know you're helping me out of pity. I have nothing to repay you with, so I'll just kowtow to you a few times!"

Seeing this, Luo Zhiwan quickly got up, went around the table, and helped her up.

"You're so old, and you're still kowtowing to me. It's too much for me. To be honest, my family's pharmacy business has only just started to pick up these past few days, so I haven't been able to help too many people. But I guess I'll help whoever I can."

As she spoke, she placed the prescription she had just written in her hand.

"Go get the medicine. I'll let the waiter know."

The old woman nodded repeatedly, tears streaming down her face. Then, holding the prescription, her hands trembling, she walked towards the counter. Zhiwan arrived at Daming's side at that moment to remind him...

"Da Ming, just write down this old lady's medical expenses; there's no need to charge her."
