Li Ping pursed his lips and didn't dare to say anything more.
Yiming watched as Leng Chuchen wolfed down the bowl of noodles, his mouth twitching incessantly.
"Uncle Chen, it looks like you really haven't eaten for a few days. My grandma asked me to bring you food a few days ago, but my mom wouldn't let me. She even said she'd break my legs if I dared to come to your house!"
"Is your mother that fierce?"
He put down the bowl in his hand, reached out and picked up Yiming.
"Then how dare you come to my house?"
Yiming pursed his lips and smiled mischievously.
"Uncle Chen, my mom is just trying to scare me. From childhood to adulthood, she has never hit me or scolded me. She is the best mother in the world. She is kind to everyone. I just don't know why she hates you so much..."
As he said this, he looked at him with pity.
"Uncle Chen, have you offended my mother? Otherwise, why would she dislike you so much?"
Yiming's words made Leng Chuchen blink awkwardly a few times.
"Yiming, do you like me?"
Without a second thought, Yiming nodded and said, "I like it. If my mother didn't forbid me from coming to see you, I would definitely come to play with you every day."
Hearing Yiming's words, he blinked a few times, and suddenly had an idea.
"Yiming, Uncle Chen has a secret to tell you, but you can't tell anyone else, okay?"
Hearing that there was a secret, Yiming immediately looked at him as if he had just remembered something.
"Uncle Chen, did you receive the message I asked Uncle Jiaxun to convey to you?"
Speaking of this, he really had to thank Yiming; otherwise, he really didn't know when he would have found out that Zhiwan was the woman from back then.
He raised his hand and gently pinched his chin.
"I received it. If you hadn't told me your secret, I wouldn't have been able to find you. In fact, I should thank you properly."
Yiming blinked his big eyes at him and asked, "Uncle Chen, is my mother really the person you're looking for?"
When Yiming asked about it, he nodded.
"Yes, I met your mother once three years ago, so I've been looking for her for the past few years. Luckily, you provided me with a clue..."
"Then why does my mother hate you? Do you know my father?"
Leng Chuchen awkwardly raised her hand and rubbed Yiming's little head.
"Because back then, your mother and I had a fight, and she's been angry with me ever since, ignoring me and telling you not to talk to me either."
"Mother is so stingy..."
Yiming pouted and muttered to himself.
"It was just a fight, and she's holding such a grudge. She's so petty. Uncle Chen, since you knew my mother three years ago, do you know my father? Are you really not my father?"
Looking into his big, bright eyes, Leng Chuchen was momentarily speechless.
He didn't want to lie to Yiming, but he didn't dare tell him the truth.
Just as he hesitated, Yiming asked again:
"My mother said my father is dead. Do you think that's true?"
As he said this, he looked up at him, and the expectation in his eyes made him feel very reluctant.
Yiming was a smart child. Although he didn't understand the affairs between adults, he knew that Uncle Chen and his mother's feud was definitely not something that started from a fight.
Seeing Leng Chuchen hesitate, he asked again,
"Uncle Chen, you're my dad, aren't you?"
These words left Leng Chuchen stunned, unsure how to respond.
Yiming raised his hand, wrapped it around his neck, and whispered in his ear:
"Uncle Chen, actually, I overheard my grandparents' conversation and realized that you are my biological father. It's just that my mother doesn't want me to acknowledge you. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone this secret, and I won't ask my mother either..."
Yiming's words made Leng Chuchen feel ashamed.
He lowered his lips and gently kissed his forehead.
"Yiming, you are such a smart and sensible child. Don't worry, one day I will make your mother accept me..."
"Really?"
Yiming looked up at him with eyes full of excitement.
"So, you really are my father? I'm not mistaken?"
ah?
So he was just guessing; he was just testing him?
Was he tricked by a three-year-old child?
He immediately gave a helpless, bitter smile.
"You little brat, are you trying to trick me into talking?"
Yiming grinned and chuckled.
"It would have been so much better if you had just told me directly. I wouldn't have had to go through all this trouble. Now I'm sure you're my real father, and I can finally rest easy."
As he spoke, he jumped off his lap, looked up at him with his little face,
"Dad, from now on, when we're all alone, I'll call you Dad, okay?"
Leng Chuchen was naturally more than happy to accept it.
"Of course you can, but don't tell your mother, otherwise she might run away with you, and we'll hardly ever see each other again."
Yiming immediately nodded with a serious expression.
"Don't worry, Dad! This is our secret. Alright, I've been out long enough, I have to go back now. I'll bring you dinner again tonight..."
With those words in mind, he picked up the empty bowl, stuck his tongue out at Leng Chuchen, then turned and ran off on his short legsā¦
Watching his retreating figure, Leng Chuchen chuckled to herself.
Li Ping, who had just seen off a guest, stepped forward and asked curiously:
"Young Master, what did Yiming say to you? Why are you laughing like that..."
Upon hearing Li Ping's voice, Leng Chuchen's face immediately returned to normal.
"I'm not eating lunch, and none of you should go out either. Miss Zhuang's cooking isn't too bad..."
Hearing this, Li Ping looked at Hu Ke with pleading eyes, but Hu Ke just shrugged helplessly.
