Chapter 99 The Reason for Hitting You

Upon hearing this, Jiawang's mother covered her mouth in fright. Leng Chuchen was about to explain when Luo Tianhe interrupted her again.

"This isn't just me, Luo Tianhe, making things up. There's precedent for this. In the previous dynasty, a prince fell in love with a commoner woman and they had a child. The prince thought the emperor would allow him to marry her because they already had a child. But to his surprise, when the emperor found out, he didn't hesitate to order the royal bloodline to be taken back and then kill the woman and her entire family..."

These words caused a collective sigh of sympathy among those present.

When Leng Chuchen was very young, he heard the palace maids talk about this, but he was too young to hear much of it.

Now, reminded by Luo Tianhe, he secretly gasped.

It seems that he really shouldn't have mentioned this matter to his father and the others when he was unable to protect her and her family.

Seeing him pondering, Luo Tianhe continued:

"Your Highness, our Luo family has been merchants for generations and has never had any dealings with the government. But ever since you came to Phoenix City, our family has almost been wiped out. Now I beg you, please don't bother us anymore, and don't tell anyone about this. Let our family have a few days of peace!"

As he said this, he prepared to kneel down, but Leng Chuchen stepped forward and stopped him.

“Uncle Luo, how could I dare to ask you to perform such a grand ceremony? I have remembered everything you just said. I promise you that I will never mention this matter to any outsiders unless the safety of Zhiwan and her child, as well as your family, can be guaranteed…”

His words finally made Luo Tianhe breathe a long sigh of relief.

He nodded resentfully.

"Then thank you very much."

"Uncle Luo, I'm so sorry. I've already told Zhiwan that I had no choice but to do what I did back then. I didn't mean to hurt Zhiwan..."

"alright."

Luo Tianhe spoke up again to stop him:

"Young Master Leng, since you have promised me that this matter will never be mentioned again, let bygones be bygones!"

Leng Chuchen originally wanted to explain further to Luo Tianhe, but he waved his hand impatiently.

"I'm tired, I'm going back to rest first, please make yourselves at home!"

It turns out that the reason he agreed to let them come to his house for dinner today was to explain things to Leng Chuchen.

Now that he has said what he needed to say, there is naturally no need for him to stay with them any longer.

Looking at his slightly aged back, Zhiwan tightened her grip on her fingers, then looked up at Leng Chuchen.

"Let bygones be bygones. From now on, we'll each go our own way. Please go back!"

Looking at Zhiwan's expressionless face, he nodded.

"Okay, take care."

After leaving those words, he turned and walked away with a carefree air.

He didn't hesitate at all, which puzzled Hu Ke and Li Ping, but they still quickly followed him.

After he left, Yiming ran out of the house.

He took Zhiwan's hand and asked timidly:

"Mother, is he really my father?"

Zhiwan raised her hand to cover his mouth and whispered a warning:

"Yiming, he's not your father. Don't call him that anymore, or Grandpa will get angry, and getting angry will make you sick, understand?"

Yiming stared with his innocent, wide eyes and nodded heavily.

"I understand, Mother..."

Yiming was a smart child, and having overheard their conversation, he already understood that this young master Leng was indeed his biological father.

Although he was overjoyed inside, he kept his excitement to himself when he saw that his mother and grandmother didn't look too happy.

But he prayed in his heart, hoping that his father wouldn't leave so soon, as he hadn't even had a chance to speak with him yet.

Only after they had left the Luo family's pharmacy did Li Ping, still puzzled, chase after them.

"Young master, are we really leaving like this?"

Leng Chuchen turned around, raised an eyebrow at him,

"Then tell me, what should we do?"

"You hurt Miss Luo so much, she can't possibly accept you right away. You have to work on her!"

"Stop dawdling."

He rolled his eyes at him, then looked up and saw a notice posted at the entrance of the cloth shop next to the Luo family's pharmacy.

He peeked out, and suddenly grinned.

"I've got an idea, let's go."

As he spoke, he walked directly toward the fabric shop. Hu Ke and Li Ping looked at him with surprise, wanting to go up and ask him what he was doing, but he had already entered the fabric shop. The two of them could only hurry after him.

"boss……"

As soon as Leng Chuchen entered the room, she shouted loudly, startling the plump woman who was sleeping on the counter. She then scolded her angrily:

"What are you yelling for? Can't you see people are sleeping? What's the matter?"

Seeing that the plump woman didn't even raise her head, he immediately frowned and raised his voice again.

"You're not doing business here anymore?"

Upon hearing the word "business," the plump woman immediately perked up and looked at the newcomer.

When she saw the three large men, she waved her hand impatiently.

"Gentlemen, you must be from out of town! Come on, come on, don't come back and buy things from me and get locked up by the government. I don't want to cheat you."

Hearing this, Leng Chuchen became even more interested.

He took two steps forward curiously and asked in surprise,

What do you mean by that?

The plump woman raised an eyebrow at him, then pouted and said:

"Young man, trust Fatty Sister, go do what you need to do. It's not that I don't want to do business with you, I'm just afraid of causing you trouble."

Seeing that she still wouldn't tell the truth, Leng Chuchen simply raised her hand, and Hu Ke hurriedly took out a few pieces of silver and placed them on the counter.
