Shang Ning was called back by her mother's phone call, but when she entered the door, she saw a man sitting in the living room.
Her dad?
Shang Ning closed the door, changed her shoes at the entrance, and came back.
Ning Baiyuan seemed to have aged a bit more than before. He sat upright, leaning on his cane. When he saw Shang Ning come in, his expression changed, and he tapped the ground with his cane.
Lin Xue came over with a hint of ingratiation; it was rare for her to do that.
“Ning Kong, um, your dad…”
"I don't have enough money to support him," Shang Ning said calmly. She held a grudge and would always remember the time this man hit her.
"evil creature……"
"Then you can open the door and go find your good daughter and son." Shang Ning sneered, showing no fear of his seriousness.
Lin Xue tugged at Shang Ning, "Ning Kong, he's still your father, no matter what."
"When he let Ning Yan and the others kick you out, he didn't think about the fact that he was my father and your husband." Shang Ning said, leaning against the shoe cabinet and looking at Ning Baiyuan. "Even if I wanted to support him as my father, he should have the nerve to ask me to support him."
Ning Baiyuan stood up, leaning on his cane, his hands trembling. He stared intently at Shang Ning, his eyes sharp, while Shang Ning stared back at him.
"Ning Kong, your father has something to tell you. He says he wants to revise his will so that it only includes your name." Lin Xue pulled her daughter along, her eyes shining as she spoke of the will.
Shang Ning looked down at her mother, unsure of what to say to her.
Ning Baiyuan was penniless and heavily in debt, otherwise his good children would not have kicked him out. Only his mother would believe such nonsense.
"You go back to your room first, I'll talk to him," Shang Ning said, gesturing for her mother to go back to her room.
"Ning Kong, you should have a good talk with your father." Lin Xue, preoccupied with the inheritance, returned to her room, glancing back every few steps.
After his mother went inside, Shang Ning sat down opposite Ning Baiyuan. "Mr. Ning, just say what you have to say. You can lie to my mother about the inheritance, but leave now. You're not welcome here."
Ning Baiyuan sat down, shivering, took out a document from his person, and pushed it to Shang Ning, saying, "Take a look."
Shang Ning looked down and saw a land deed.
Shang Ning: "..."
Shang Ning reached out and took the land deed, opening it to reveal a large, undeveloped plot of wasteland on the outskirts of City A.
Shang Ning looked up at Ning Baiyuan, "You're still not bankrupt?"
“This land deed is neither under the Ning family nor in my name,” Ning Baiyuan said.
Shang Ning pushed the land deed back, "This is ridiculous. What are you doing with it if it's not yours?"
"Although this land deed is not in my name, it belongs to the Ning family. Even if I am bankrupt and heavily in debt today, with this, no one will dare to touch me."
Shang Ning raised an eyebrow slightly. She really hadn't heard of anyone harassing the Ning family for debts, not even the bank.
She looked at the land deed again. "If that's the case, why did you give it to me if you treasured it so much?"
“I know you haven’t broken up with that Jin family kid yet. This land deed is a protective charm in our Ning family, but it’s not for Jin Yining.” Ning Baiyuan said, coughing a few times. His body was obviously not as strong as before, especially after his previous illness. “I don’t mean anything by it. I don’t have much time left, but I know better than anyone that the only person in this world who will truly take care of me for money during these last few days is your mother.”
Is it truly for the money?
