The copying was done very carefully, as if each word had been carefully considered and understood.
Unfortunately, it wasn't hers, and she never realized that.
"Is it okay?" the young woman asked cautiously again.
Ning Kong paused, took the pen from her hand, and wrote a single character at the bottom of the notebook: Ning.
Ning in Shangning.
"Thank you, thank you." The young woman thanked him while clutching her notebook, and happily went back to continue her work.
Ning Yan has been having a tough time lately. The family's debts are almost crushing her. Her brothers and sisters-in-law are all eager to cut ties with her, saying that she was the one who managed the company from the beginning, so of course she should be responsible for what happened.
After Ning Yan came in, she sat down directly opposite Ning Kong. "Get to the point. Don't even think about sending the old man back. Nobody will take care of him."
Ning Yan spoke impatiently, and was clearly impatient with her younger sister as well.
Or perhaps, they never acknowledged this younger sister at all.
Ning Kong lowered her eyes, her fingertips gently rubbing the rim of her cup. "You're the one who instigated my classmates to isolate me, stirred up trouble around me, kept saying I was useless, kept attacking my self-esteem, and colluded with my psychologist to lead me step by step into depression, right?"
After Ning Kong finished speaking, he looked up.
Ning Yan's expression changed with each sentence she spoke. "What... what are you saying?"
Seeing her evasive manner, Ning Kong slammed his hands on the table, stood up, and moved closer to Ning Yan. "Don't you understand what I'm saying? Do you think that because I severed ties with the Ning family but didn't hold you accountable, I've forgotten everything?"
Shang Ning could guess most things, but she could never guess who had driven her crazy.
"Ning Kong, if you're sick, go see a doctor. What are you doing acting crazy here? I don't have time to play your madness right now," Ning Yan said, getting up to leave.
"Ning Yan, what threat do I pose to you that you treat me like this?" Ning Kong asked, watching Ning Yan who was about to leave.
Ning Yan paused, her hand gripping the door, then suddenly sneered, turning to look at Ning Kong. "Do I need a reason to treat you like this? Do I need anyone to remind me what you and that bitch mother did?"
Ning Kong clenched his fists and looked at the person not far away. "Ning Yan, it's nothing to drive someone crazy. It takes real skill to drive someone to their death."
Ning Yan laughed out loud, her voice laced with sarcasm, "Do you really think you can do whatever you want just because you have Jin Yining backing you up? I'll be waiting for the day you force me to my death."
“No need to wait, let’s do it today.” Ning Kong said, glancing down at the time. “Last June, the day before my car accident, Ning Baiyuan made me sign a document relinquishing all inheritance rights to the Ning Group. I wasn’t the only one who signed that document.”
"What do you mean?"
“What I mean is, old man, I want you dead.” Ning Kong said, walking closer to Ning Yan and whispering in her ear, “In other words, as long as those people know that they once signed such an agreement and now it has been notarized, then the 300 million debt will be yours alone.”
Upon hearing this, Ning Yan's hands and feet suddenly turned icy cold, and she stared at Ning Kong in disbelief.
“Ning Baiyuan is a cunning old fox. Do you really think he’s an idiot because he’s old?” Ning Kong chuckled in her ear. “To put it bluntly, you’re just a whetstone for him to hone me. Father? In the Ning family, that word has never had any meaning of kinship.”
