Chapter 539 Can't you just let me die peacefully?

"It's just a name, it's fine to keep it. I'm just giving you a heads-up, so you won't be scared when you find out yourself."

Now I'm terrified. "Is there really no room for negotiation on this?"

"I just came back from the director's office. He has already submitted the report, and it should be approved in the next day or two."

"Can't you just let me die peacefully?" Shang Ning really wanted to die now. She kicked the small stool by the door and bit her lip.

Jin Yining came to find her after finishing her scene. Hearing this, she didn't interrupt her phone call and waited for her to finish before asking, "He Zhiyan?"

"Hmm." Shang Ning said, turning back to look at Jin Yining, and clicked her tongue, "What kind of expression is that?"

"You two are still in contact privately?"

“What’s wrong with contacting him? We grew up together, and this is about school.” Shang Ning came over and put one hand on Jin Yining’s shoulder. “I’m telling you, Fourth Master, is it really worth it for something like this? Your girl has been watching you all along.”

Shang Ning was referring to the female lead of the drama. She didn't quite remember her name; she was average-looking, but the way she looked at Jin Yining was a bit too direct.

"What on earth happened that made it impossible for you to die peacefully?"

"The school is applying for some kind of title for me, something like a posthumous honor bestowed upon someone after they've died. Isn't that exciting?" Shang Ning sighed. "Can't these people come up with something more substantial?"

Jin Yining hadn't expected this; those people really were capable of causing trouble.

"It's just a title; they can keep it for you."

"No, do you know what posthumous conferment of a title means?"

"Didn't you spend over a week watching the news of your death on repeat?"

Shang Ning: "..."

This man is not a good match; he definitely is not a good match.

I feel so upset, I don't want to talk anymore.

Jin Yining led her inside and placed the hand warmer in her hand. "That's exactly how it works. I think He Zhiyan just came here to annoy you for no reason."

"He's afraid I'll be startled if I suddenly see it, okay?" Shang Ning sighed, sat down in the place where Jin Yining was resting, and watched Jin Yining sit down next to her while holding a hand warmer.

Jin Yining reached out and took the water glass. "Logically speaking, they didn't do anything wrong. To put it nicely, the title belongs to Professor Shang; to put it bluntly, it has nothing to do with you."

So, what's the difference between these two statements?

"But why did your school suddenly think of posthumously awarding you this honor?" Jin Yining took a sip of water and handed the glass to Shang Ning. "Shouldn't posthumous awards be given after you receive the award?"

"I don't know either. I find it strange too. Why do you think it is?" Shang Ning said while drinking water. "How much time has passed? And think about it, putting everything else aside, this matter should be attributed to Zhiyan, since Zhiyan is still alive."

"Should we go back?" Jin Yining took the cup and placed it on the table. "Or should I have someone find out what happened?"

"No rush, I'll go back and check in a few days." Shang Ning couldn't figure it out. After all, so much time had passed, and it all seemed strange now.

Jin Yining nodded. "Are you hungry? I'll have someone buy some food." She secretly considered how many engagements she had in the next few days and whether she could find time to accompany her to see what was going on.
