Marrying Jiang Jincheng

Marrying Jiang Jincheng

"How is it?" Jiang Jin asked Yi Yi beside him after looking at Yun Fan, who had fallen into a deep sleep.

"His body is rather weak, can we move him out?" Jiang Jin glanced at the weak Yun Fan on the bed and sighed.

"Fine, I'll see this through to the end. But I'll have someone investigate whether Yun Fan has planted a spy among my people." Jiang Jin subconsciously touched his shoulder; how did he know about that hidden red mole?

"Okay." Yi Yi dutifully took care of Yun Fan. Although Jiang Jin didn't want to cause trouble, she still had Yi San keep watch around in case anyone came to investigate.

"Alright, I need to go back now, otherwise it will arouse suspicion." Jiang Jin came out without anyone with her, and it wouldn't be good if Abei worried.

Jiang Jin stepped back into the snow. Yi Yi, watching his back, didn't see Yun Fan's open eyes behind him.

When swords and blades pierced his body, he used his last strength to find Wei Shu's manor. Although Wei Shu was cold-hearted, he wouldn't actually kill him.

The chill forced him to rest against a rock, but a sense of crisis compelled him to brace himself against the firewood pile to conceal himself. He knew the villagers would find him when firewood was scarce in winter.

In a daze, he seemed to have returned to his bedroom, where he was surrounded by red silk and the character for "double happiness." Somewhat puzzled, he touched the door frame beside him, only to find that his hand had passed right through it.

"Put the fan away!" In an instant, many people appeared in the bridal chamber. The woman opposite them was dressed in green, but her hair ornaments were exceptionally exquisite. She moved the fan aside, and an extremely familiar face appeared before her.

"Jiang Jin?" Yun Fan looked at Jiang Jin, who had appeared before him, in disbelief. "How could I have married Jiang Jin?"

The red candles were burning. Yun Fan saw himself sitting next to Jiang Jin. Although he was a little nervous, he maintained a gentlemanly demeanor.

“I know that my marriage to you is a temporary measure, but I will wait until you are willing to do so. Although I cannot let you leave this house, I will do my best to set you free.”

With a dignified smile, Jiang Jin replied in a measured tone, "It is the duty of a concubine in the inner quarters."

"No, no, this shouldn't be!" Yun Fan looked at Jiang Jin's state and tried to reach out to shake her awake, but found that his hand could only pass through her body.

"How about Lady Jiang tells me about your childhood tonight?" Yun Fan didn't insist that the two of them lie on the couch in their nightgowns. While the maid was removing Jiang Jin's outer robe, the two Yun Fans tried to avoid the mirror, but Yun Fan still caught a glimpse of a red mole on Jiang Jin's left shoulder in the mirror.

"When I was young, I had a jade rabbit pendant that fell into the lake while I was swimming. I was very sad at the time. When my mother found out, she ordered someone to carve an identical one for me. But I know that no matter how similar it is, it will never be the same. Does Mr. Yun have any beloved possessions?"

Jiang Jin's voice was very pleasant and gentle, lacking the harshness she displayed when facing Wei Shu, but Yun Fan still felt that Jiang Jin was more vibrant in front of Wei Shu.

"When I was little, I had a talisman that I treasured very much. But later, someone fell off a horse while playing, and although the person was unharmed, the talisman broke. My mother said it was to protect me from misfortune. So I wore the talisman again." Yun Fan pulled a red string from around his neck.

"Madam Jiang, I would like to give you this amulet." Lying on the couch, Yun Fan couldn't see Jiang Jin's expression clearly, but standing beside the couch, he could see it perfectly.

"This talisman seems quite effective; it would be best if Young Master Yun kept it for himself." Jiang Jin smiled, but the smile in her eyes was faint, so faint that Yun Fan felt she wasn't listening to him at all.

"You're awake?" Yi Yi's voice brought Yun Fan back to his senses. "Thank you all for saving my life. I will definitely repay you in the future!"

Yi Yi waved his hand, "My wife said this favor is considered settled with the favor you did for saving her in Bianzhou. From now on, you two are even." Yi Yi sighed as he watched Yun Fan's eyes slowly dim.

"Alright, you get some rest. I'll keep watch outside." Yi Yi left Yun Fan alone in the house, while he and Yi San went outside to enjoy the snow.

"If you don't stay with her, aren't you afraid of being blamed by your wife if something happens?" Yi San glanced at Yi Yi sitting next to him.

"Don't worry, he'll call out if he has any problems when he wakes up." Yi Yi raised an eyebrow. "The one inside is my wife's admirer."

"How so?" Otsuzo took out some pastries from his pocket, waiting for Otsuichi to continue.

"His expression turned even paler when he heard that his wife wanted to settle all debts than when we found her." Yi Yi snatched a piece of pastry from Yi San's hand.

"If it weren't for Wei Shu's affair, His Highness might have agreed to his marriage proposal," Yi San speculated wildly, glancing inside every now and then.

"Let's not make that assumption. If it weren't for your wife saving him today, he might have lost his life here. Do you want your wife to be a widow at such a young age and then remarry?" Yi shook his head, thinking of Yun Fan's blood-covered body.

"Do you think my wife knows?" Yi San, afraid that Yi Yi would try to snatch his snacks again, stuffed them all into his mouth in one go.

"If you're so curious, why don't you ask your wife and see if she'll answer your question?" Yi Yi glared at Yi San. "If you don't know this kind of thing, how would I know? And even if your wife knew, what could she change?"

"When do you think this snow will stop?" Just as Otsuzo finished speaking, the snow that had been falling began to lessen and showed signs of stopping.

"Is your mouth blessed or something?" Yi Yi gave Yi San a thumbs up. "Why don't you say it again and see?"

"No, what if it actually works? What would the price be? I'm too afraid of death to try." Yi San covered his mouth, his gaze drifting into the distance.

"It seems someone's coming. Are they here to investigate or to pick up the person inside?" Yi San gripped his sword, preparing to go and investigate.

"Have you two seen my young master?" Yi Yi recognized the leader as Cang Lu, who had always been by Yun Fan's side.

"Is it Lord Cang?" Yi Yi stopped Yi San, who was about to make a move. "Lord Yun just happened to faint in the manor. My wife was afraid he would catch a cold, so she let him rest here first."

Yi Yi gave Yi San a look while Yi Yi went inside to ask Yun Fan, "Young Master Yun, is Cang Lu, who is by your side, trustworthy?"

“It’s believable.” Yun Fan covered his wounds and smiled at Yi Yi, “Since they’re here, let them in.”

Yi Yi nodded to Yi San outside the door, and only then did Yi San step aside to let Cang Lu into the house.

"My lord, it's all my fault for not protecting you properly!" Cang Lu choked up as he looked at Yun Fan's injuries. When had his lord ever suffered such serious injuries?

"It's alright, Registrar Jiang saved me, but we can't stay any longer." Now that Cang Lu has arrived, Yun Fan has no reason to remain here.

"Young Master Yun, you're not feeling well, and the snow outside hasn't been cleared yet, so please stay here for now." Yi Yi left Yi San behind to stop the people from the manor from coming over, while Yi Yi returned to Jiang Jin's side to protect her.

"My lord, the outside world doesn't know about this yet." Cang Lu fed the pills he had brought to Yun Fan.

“Keep it a secret. Registrar Jiang isn't one to gossip.” Yun Fan looked at Cang Lu and chuckled, “Why are you looking at me like that?”

"I just feel a little guilty." Cang Lu had someone guard the room while he stood by the bed with his back to Yun Fan. "My lord, why don't you rest? I'll take you away early tomorrow morning. This is Wei Shu's estate, and I don't think anyone will dare to trespass."

Jiang Jin walked alone for a while, holding the hand warmer, and then saw the lanterns lit up ahead. "Abei."

Upon hearing the sound, Abei hurriedly ran towards Jiang Jin, saying, "If His Highness hadn't sent someone to deliver a letter, I would have been more anxious than an ant on a hot pan, with my wife remaining silent like this."

Ah Bei breathed a sigh of relief as he held Jiang Jin's warm hand. "Zhou Cong has been waiting for you in the courtyard. I think it's something important."

Jiang Jin raised an eyebrow. The only people Zhou Cong would be waiting for her like this were Wei Shu and Zi Yuan. Thinking of this, Jiang Jin quickened her pace.

"Zhou Cong, come in and speak!" Zhou Cong, holding a sword, stood at the door and, upon seeing Jiang Jin, pulled a letter from his pocket.

"Zhou Liao found it when he came into my room and had it delivered." Jiang Jin hurriedly opened the envelope; the handwriting inside was clearly flustered.

"Seize the throne and avenge!" Jiang Jin whispered the four words above. "This letter shows that Ziyuan wrote it in a state of extreme panic."

"What revenge?" Zhou Cong held the letter up to the light, hoping to find some unusual clues, but to no avail.

"Is he a prince from a foreign dynasty?" Jiang Jin handed the letter to Abei, telling her to keep it safe.

"Is he seizing His Majesty's throne or the throne of the Great Yan? Does he want His Majesty's imperial throne or a true change of dynasty?" Jiang Jin understood that if he wanted revenge, he would definitely not let the royal family off the hook.

"Should we have the general report this to His Majesty?" Zhou Cong was also encountering such blatant dissent for the first time and couldn't help but worry about Zi Yuan's situation.

"We can tell Wei Shu, but we cannot tell His Majesty rashly before we understand the situation. What if it's a setup, or what if someone deliberately leaked false information?"

Jiang Jin became more cautious; these secret matters were not yet known to Zi Yuan, who had just been captured.

"Could it be that she was drugged and her mind was clouded, or perhaps she overheard it by chance?" Zhou Cong wondered wildly. Jiang Jin couldn't help but cough.

"Zhou Cong, don't let your emotions cloud your judgment." Jiang Jin sat in a chair, looking at the burning charcoal fire.

"Since Ziyuan was able to send a message, whether it's true or false, it means she still has value and isn't in mortal danger. As for whether we'll get involved, that's not something she can decide." Abei handed Jiang Jin a cup of hot tea.

"Madam, if it doesn't snow tonight, let's leave early tomorrow morning. It wouldn't be good if we encountered heavy snow." Abei understood that Jiang Jin was worried about the capital, so he suggested that they return quickly.

"Well, it's getting late, you should all go back and rest. Zhou Cong, don't push yourself so hard." Jiang Jin looked at Zhou Cong's increasingly thin appearance with a sense of helplessness. She really didn't know if bringing the two of them to Nan Yi that day was the right or wrong decision.

"Thank you for your concern, Madam. I'm fine." Zhou Cong bowed and left the room. Jiang Jin, recalling the words from earlier, also fell into deep thought.
