Drug test participants
"Junior sister, slow down." Yi Yi quickly grabbed Jiang Jin's sleeve as she saw her striding forward.
"It seems this fellow Daoist is eager to rest." The person leading the way didn't see anything wrong with it, simply smiling and joking, his eyes full of composure as he looked at his prey.
"Yes, my senior brother and I are exhausted from the long journey." Jiang Jin shook her head slightly, looking at Yi Yi's anxious expression.
"This is your room. Some places in Nanyi aren't very safe, so we arranged for you to stay together. If it's inconvenient, you can sleep in the room next door." Jiang Jin nodded slightly, watching the person's departing figure.
“There are a few with considerable martial arts skills.” Yi Yi closed the door and looked at Jiang Jin, who was sitting on the couch without any urgency.
"I can tell, but the smell on him is very similar to that of those corpses." Jiang Jin looked around the room, which was very clean.
“Look, this house has been lived in by at least three different people.” Jiang Jin looked at the hairpins on the dressing table and the armlet left by the bed.
"Those hairpins are a bit old-fashioned and cheap, but these armlets are exquisitely crafted and worth a lot of money. One is in the style of Beizhou, and the other is in the style of Jiangnan. And the hem of the skirt peeking out from the side of the cabinet is in the style of Sangzhou. You can find traces of different people in every place in this room." Jiang Jin casually searched through several places and found something different each time.
"Should we strike first?" Yi Yi didn't understand why Jiang Jin could still stand calmly in the room.
"These are antidotes and Luoluo incense. Take them immediately if anything happens." Jiang Jin couldn't yet discern any connection between these people and Gao Yunge, but he still dared not be careless.
"My lady, risking your life isn't like you at all," Yi Yi said, knowing full well that Jiang Jin would never truly drive herself to the brink of death.
"You said His Majesty knows the antidote for Luo Luo Xiang, so could he also know about Nan Yi's current situation?" Jiang Jin didn't elaborate, but simply prompted Yi Yi.
"The talk of ghosts and gods has always been a tactic of those in power. His Majesty wouldn't let the matter of Nanyi go unpunished once he learned of it. Besides, even if the officials are incompetent, the people under His Majesty's command are not." Jiang Jin touched the token at his waist and narrowed his eyes.
"Wife, isn't this a bit too risky?" Yi Yi looked at Jiang Jin's smile as if he didn't recognize her.
"Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If we win this battle decisively, we'll have eliminated a major threat to His Majesty." Jiang Jin wiped the dagger in his hand. "Should we kill these people outright or throw them into Wei Shu's inner prison for slow interrogation?"
"My lady, you should ask Lady Ziyuan about this; she would be very interested." Yi's eyes sharpened, and she put her index finger to her lips.
"Senior brother, I've never seen a real Yin-Yang Land before. When we return to our sect, I'll definitely be the center of attention." Jiang Jin knew immediately that someone was eavesdropping outside the door.
"I've heard that the Yin-Yang Land contains Yin-Yang Stones, which are very beneficial to your body. After a while, you won't have to suffer from heart palpitations anymore." Upon hearing this, Jiang Jin's eyes widened as she looked at Yi Yi, who, after listening to his fabricated story, gave her a thumbs up.
“Yes, then I can go down the mountain to travel by myself and won’t be under Master’s control anymore.” Jiang Jin continued, following Yi Yi’s words. “Senior brother, I’m a little sleepy. Wake me up tonight.”
Jiang Jin walked to the bedside, but her eyes were fixed on the window. A figure flashed by, and Yi Yi immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
"How is it?" Jiang Jin took off her shoes and sat on the couch.
"He's gone. Although his martial arts are good, his foundation is unstable." Yi Yi watched as Jiang Jin actually lifted the covers and crawled inside.
"Wife, are you really going to sleep?" Jiang Jin nodded and yawned. "Anyway, they won't attack us until they're sure we're isolated and helpless. It's better to relax now; the real show is tonight." Jiang Jin, still covered by the blanket, looked at Yi Yi sitting on the stool.
"Then you should rest, my lady. I'll keep watch." Yi Yi noticed the dark circles under Jiang Jin's eyes and knew how worried she had been lately.
"Okay." Jiang Jin grasped the ring and fell into a deep sleep until she was awakened by the sound of drums.
"What happened?" Jiang Jin subconsciously raised the dagger in her hand.
"I don't know, they started drumming as soon as the sun set." Otsuichi went behind the door to guard against a sneak attack.
"Fellow Daoists, we are currently performing an exorcism ritual. We hope we did not frighten you?" A familiar voice came from outside.
"No, is there anything we can do to help?" Jiang Jin patted Yi Yi's hand and then opened the door.
"If you two can help, that would be the best outcome." The man stuffed a stack of yellow paper into Jiang Jin's hand. "This is a guide. Please take it to the house ahead."
"Junior Sister, you're not feeling well, let me deliver it." Yi Yi was about to take the yellow paper from Jiang Jin's hand when the man stopped her.
“The yin and yang are in conflict, so only women can enter that house, otherwise the formation will be broken.” Jiang Jin smiled and agreed, then gave Yi Yi a reassuring look before walking step by step towards the strangely emanating house.
"Eryu, how could you let a fellow Daoist deliver the paper?" Jiang Jin turned her head and saw that the person who spoke was the same one who had been sizing her up outside.
"Third Brother, I was just too impatient." Eryu pretended to slap himself, but his third brother subtly stopped him.
"Alright, if you disrupt tonight's ceremony, you'll have to accept your punishment." Jiang Jin looked at the two people in front of her, unsure whether they were acting or genuine.
"I've been busy for a while, so I don't know how to address you, fellow Daoist?" Third Brother stared nakedly at Jiang Jin's face.
"His surname is Jiang, just call me Fellow Daoist Jiang. This is my senior brother, Xingyi, we all call him First Senior Brother." Jiang Jin, holding the yellow paper, pretended to be a little at a loss and asked, "This paper?"
"Just give it to me." Third Brother tried to grab Jiang Jin's hand under the pretense of getting the paper, but she nimbly dodged him.
"Are you two fellow Daoists here to slay demons and eliminate evil on orders from your sect?" Hearing his third brother's probing question, Jiang Jin couldn't help but sneer inwardly, but outwardly maintained a feigned ignorance.
"My senior brother and I sneaked down the mountain. We'll go back after everything's over, so no one will know and Master won't scold us." Jiang Jin's words were flawless and naturally struck a chord with the third brother.
His eyes were full of satisfaction as he gave Eryu a look, "Go and prepare some food for the two fellow Daoists. We'll need their strong support for tonight's sealing ceremony!"
"You're too kind." Jiang Jin exchanged a glance with Yi Yi in the shadows, becoming extremely alert.
"This way, please, both of you." Eryu led the two into a room where two or three people sat down. Although they didn't show it on their faces, Jiang Jin caught the greed in their eyes.
"This is where we eat. It's a bit simple, I hope you two fellow cultivators won't mind." Eryu served Jiang Jin a bowl of rice, and Yi Yi reached out to take it.
"My junior sister is practicing fasting; she's not in good health and can't use worldly things." Eryu glanced at her third brother following behind, who nodded indifferently. Jiang Jin looked at Yi Yi, her gaze slowly becoming hazy, then her hand landed on the table, tapped twice, and she collapsed.
"Senior brother, senior brother, what's wrong?" Jiang Jin grasped Yi Yi's wrist. Fortunately, he hadn't been poisoned; it was just a common sleeping potion. Jiang Jin applied a little pressure, and Yi Yi's breathing became erratic for a moment before he relaxed.
"Your senior brother might be possessed by a demon. I have some magical artifacts; come with me to get them." Jiang Jin was initially worried that using the poison in her hand would alert the enemy, but unexpectedly, a fool walked right into it.
"Alright, fellow Daoist, please hurry!" Jiang Jin followed her third brother back into the house. As soon as they entered, he revealed his true colors, plugging in the door and rubbing his hands together as he looked at Jiang Jin as if he wanted to devour her whole.
“I’ve never tasted a beauty like my wife before, and she looks like she’s still a virgin!” Jiang Jin rolled her eyes and backed away. “A disgusting person like you should go to hell.”
"Go ahead and curse, little lady, you'll only be crying later!" Looking at the disgusting appearance of the man before her, Jiang Jin silently rotated her armlet, sending white powder flying towards the man's face.
"Young lady, these little things are useless against me!" The man was about to reach out and grab Jiang Jin when he found himself unsteady on his feet, and Jiang Jin's face became blurry in his vision.
"What did you use?!" The man's body went limp and he collapsed to the ground. Jiang Jin looked down at him and said, "This old lady is a cultivator. With just a slight move, I can send your soul to hell."
Jiang Jin ignored the man and carefully opened the door a crack to observe the general layout of the yard.
"When will Third Brother get better? I'm still waiting to taste that young lady!" A few people walked in from outside, and Jiang Jin hurriedly closed the door.
"You don't know Third Brother? He definitely won't come out for at least two hours, especially since that's a great beauty." As the voices of the group faded into the distance, Jiang Jin breathed a sigh of relief.
"My lady, it's me." A short while later, Otsuichi's voice rang out from outside.
Jiang Jin carefully opened the door and let Yi Yi in. "Wife, are you alright?"
Yi Yi looked at Jiang Jin with concern, only to see her sitting calmly on the stool, occasionally stepping on the man on the ground.
"The sleeping potion Wei Shu gave me is so potent that even a god wouldn't be able to escape from me." Jiang Jin looked at Yi Yi's clothes and asked, "Have you investigated everything?"
"The so-called ritual is to be a test subject for medicine, just like when the lady tested medicine for General Wei. However, they were concocting poison, and if the dosage was not controlled properly, it would cause the death of the test subject. That's why there are those corpses and the people who keep going missing."
Looking at the dark sky outside, Yi Yi said worriedly, "My lady, if we can't leave soon, we might be exposed."
"We have two hours now, and within those two hours we..." Jiang Jin's words were interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Third Brother, it's me, Eryu!" Yi Yi drew his dagger and slowly walked to the door.
"Ah, don't come any closer... Help!" Jiang Jin, his clothes disheveled and his expression terrified, opened the door and dragged Er Yu inside without a word. Yi Yi, working in perfect unison, held a dagger to his neck.
"Another one. It's all the same whether I kill one or two." Jiang Jin watched this person, who shouldn't be here, with interest, as he probed.
