Poisoning
Jiang Jin glanced at Zi Yuan and took her hand. "Are you injured?"
"No, how could that be!" Zi Yuan spun around in front of Jiang Jin. "I was just in a fight, how could I be injured!"
Jiang Jin began to take Zi Yuan's pulse and felt that it sounded a bit strange. "Didn't you feel uncomfortable anywhere after you came out of Gaoyun Pavilion?"
Zi Yuan rolled her eyes and shook her head. "There were medicinal herbs, gold and silver treasures, and a lot of foreign goods in that secret room. I didn't dare to stay any longer and left."
"Wait a minute, I feel your pulse is a bit strange." Jiang Jin released Zi Yuan's left hand and took her right hand to take her pulse.
"Are you sure you didn't see wrong? You said Song..." Zi Yuan stopped talking immediately when she saw Jiang Jin's cold gaze. "I'm not doubting you, but I really don't feel uncomfortable at all." Zi Yuan glanced at Jiang Jin with some lingering fear.
"No, something really isn't right. Have you found those people who have disappeared without a trace?" Jiang Jin walked to the table and began writing a letter. Zi Yuan followed her to the table.
"We've found a few, so it's not a big deal. There are still a few we haven't found yet." Zi Yuan looked at Jiang Jin's handwriting and couldn't help but sigh, "Your handwriting is still the best, unlike mine, which looks like insects crawling on it."
"Go sit down first." Jiang Jin rolled her eyes at Zi Yuan, then folded the letter and placed it at her waist. She picked up an empty teacup and poured in some water.
"Prick your fingertip." Although Zi Yuan didn't know what Jiang Jin was going to do, she obediently used the dagger to cut her fingertip, squeezed out a few drops of blood, and put them in a bowl.
"What's wrong? My blood is still red!" Zi Yuan was very happy to see the normal-colored blood in the cup.
"My lady." Yi Yi knocked on the door, and Zhou Cong opened it for her. Yi Yi put down the tray and looked at Jiang Jin with a strange expression.
"Yi-yi, I always feel that Zi-yuan's blood has a strange smell. Smell it." Jiang Jin handed the teacup to Yi-yi.
"It seems to smell better than ordinary blood." Yi Yi, familiar with the smell of blood, could naturally detect the peculiarity of Zi Yuan's blood.
"Smells good?" Ziyuan snatched the teacup and carefully smelled her own blood. "It's just a normal blood smell."
"My lady, I remember that man seems to be quite knowledgeable in this area. Should we ask him to take a look?" Yi Yi knew that Jiang Jin didn't want Song Zhimin to be exposed to everyone, but Zi Yuan's unusual behavior was indeed worrying.
"Why is he so familiar with this?" Jiang Jin had never known that Song Zhimin was knowledgeable about poisons.
"My lady, don't you know? I heard he was poisoned shortly after leaving the capital and was only recently cured. Perhaps he'll become a skilled doctor after so long and understand Lady Yuan's situation." After weighing her options, Jiang Jin agreed to Yi Yi's request.
"Tell him to get ready." Jiang Jin shook her head, looking at Zi Yuan's bewildered eyes. "You really are lucky to be alive!"
After a short while, Yi Yi led Song Zhimin, who was wearing a mask, into the room. "Young Master Zheng, Zi Yuan's blood has a strange taste. I've heard that you have some knowledge of this, so I would appreciate it if you could take a look."
Jiang Jin's repeated use of "Young Master Zheng" made Song Zhimin understand his new identity.
"Don't worry, Madam Jiang, I will do my utmost." Song Zhimin picked up the teacup on the table, smelled it, and then pressed down on Ziyuan's wrist.
“It’s a bit like Luoluo Xiang.” Song Zhimin’s face showed a hint of worry, “but it’s also a bit different.”
Song Zhimin released Zi Yuan and looked at Jiang Jin, saying, "Generally, people who smell Luo Luo fragrance will feel weak all over, then suffer excruciating pain all over their body until they bleed from all seven orifices and die."
"But I'm perfectly fine!" Zi Yuan was also startled and grabbed Jiang Jin's arm in a fluster.
"This pulse is somewhat similar to Luo Luoxiang's?" Jiang Jin sensed the uncertainty in Song Zhimin's words.
"Six points, so I can't be sure if it's Luoluo Xiang." Song Zhimin withdrew his hand. "Jiang Niangzi, you should also be careful. I don't think your trip to Beizhou will be that simple."
Even with the mask obscuring his face, Wei Shu could still see Song Zhimin's concern for Jiang Jin.
"Thank you for the reminder, young master." Wei Shu coughed, smiled, and shook his head at Jiang Jin's somewhat worried gaze.
"I was unaware of Lady Jiang's marriage. This is all I have on me. Please accept it if you don't mind, as it's my wedding gift to you." Song Zhimin took out a small box from his sleeve and handed it to Jiang Jin.
"Thank you." Jiang Jin opened the box, looked at Song Zhimin with some surprise, and then returned it to him. "I appreciate Zheng Langjun's kindness, but I cannot accept this."
"It's nothing valuable, don't worry about it." Song Zhimin placed the box on the table. "Luo Luo Xiang is not common, and I've never seen the one in Zi Yuan Niangzi's body before, so I can't help you. But if you're worried, you can use a regular antidote pill to suppress it first."
"Won't it have the opposite effect?" Jiang Jin looked at Zi Yuan's trembling hands. "If the other side anticipates that we will use the antidote, won't it accelerate the absorption of the drug in her body?"
"Then why don't we ask Lady Zhai?" Song Zhimin's hands, which were behind his back, tightened silently. "Lady, there's no need to be anxious. Perhaps I've misjudged."
"You wouldn't speak carelessly if you weren't sure," Jiang Jin replied instinctively, immediately drawing all eyes to her.
"I'll write to Awan. You stay here and look after Ziyuan. Yi Yi, have him stay next to Ziyuan." Jiang Jin hesitated for a moment but still decided to keep Song Zhimin.
"Take a pulse every two hours and record the different pulse patterns," Jiang Jin calmly instructed the group.
"Ah Jin, isn't this a bit too much trouble? What if he really made a mistake? I might be fine. Isn't this a bit excessive?" Zi Yuan suggested quietly, noticing the strange atmosphere in the room.
"Wei Shu, do you think this is going to be a big fuss?" Jiang Jin noticed Wei Shu staring intently at her and assumed he was angry because she hadn't asked for his opinion.
"Whatever Madam does is permissible, especially since Lady Ziyuan is doing this for our sake; nothing she does is excessive." Wei Shu felt a certain displeasure looking at Song Zhimin and Jiang Jin standing together.
"Ah Jin, you haven't taken my pulse yet today," Wei Shu said, breaking the silence in the room.
"Okay." Jiang Jin patted Zi Yuan's head to comfort her, then sat down on the edge of the couch and steadily placed her fingers on Wei Shu's wrist.
"The recovery is going well. I finally don't have to live in fear all the time anymore." This was the first time Jiang Jin had shown a relaxed expression today.
"It's all thanks to your excellent care, Madam. Without your meticulous care, I wouldn't have recovered so quickly." Jiang Jin glared at Wei, then opened the letter, added a few more words, and handed it to Yi Yi.
"It must be delivered to the capital as quickly as possible." Jiang Jin looked at the people in the room. "You can all go out first. If Ziyuan feels unwell in any way, go to see Zheng Langjun immediately."
"I know, I'm so sorry for my life." Zi Yuan glanced at Song Zhimin and snorted coldly. "Young Master Zheng, go away. Don't disturb their time together. You have no sense at all."
"Madam Jiang, then this subordinate will take his leave." Song Zhimin lowered his head very low, as if this would prevent him from seeing the two people in front of him.
"Thank you for your trouble, Young Master Zheng." Jiang Jin nodded slightly, and Zhou Cong followed the two out, watching Zi Yuan lean lazily against a pillar.
"You're not in a hurry at all, you even have time to sunbathe here." Zhou Cong watched as Zi Yuan moved a few steps away from him.
"What's the use of being anxious? Ah Jin has already made arrangements, so I don't need to think anymore. Anyway, she won't harm me." Zi Yuan walked towards Yi Yi and Song Zhimin after seeing them come out.
"Yi-yi, let's go. I got up too early today, I need to get some rest." Zi-yuan spoke slowly after the three of them had walked a little further away, "I really don't know why you suddenly came back."
The two people in front paused, and Yi Yi turned back to look at Zi Yuan with some surprise. "Why are you looking at me? Did I say something wrong? Don't you know how risky it is for you to go back to the capital? You even used the clothing store as an excuse to go find A Jin. Do you know how much trouble it would cause her if you were discovered!"
Zi Yuan glanced around and pulled Song Zhimin into the house. Yi Yi sighed helplessly and closed the door behind him.
"Song Zhimin, why are you in Beizhou? Why haven't you left yet?" Zi Yuan looked at his face and couldn't help but recall A Jin's dazed expression.
"I came to Beizhou not for Ajin, but for my family's belongings." Song Zhimin turned his back, no longer looking at Zi Yuan's condemning gaze.
"No one blamed you for leaving back then to seek revenge, but you shouldn't have suddenly reappeared after A-Jin found happiness. What were you trying to do? Did you want A-Jin to remember your past relationship?" Zi Yuan said indignantly. She knew Song Zhimin's predicament, but that didn't mean she was indifferent to Jiang Jin's pain.
“I just want an answer.” Song Zhimin rarely spoke out against this. He turned to look at Zi Yuan, “We’ve known each other for many years. Back then, I really had no choice. If A Jin wants to leave, I can…”
"Who do you think you are? If A-Jin wanted to leave, His Highness would be the first to arrange everything for her. When did it become your place to worry about that?" Zi Yuan looked at Song Zhimin in front of her and sneered a few times.
"You young men from noble families all like this, wanting to have your cake and eat it too. Do you expect Ah Jin to come back to you now, after making your own choices back then? Or do you think Ah Jin will never forget you and will abandon everything to be with you as soon as you return?"
Zi Yuan circled around Song Zhimin, observing that he still maintained a serene and composed demeanor.
“You’re no longer Song Erlang. You’re just a dead man now. His Highness allowing you to use your own name is already an extraordinary favor. Otherwise, you would just be a nameless person. Song Zhimin’s mistake is a mistake. Back then, you weren’t without choices, it’s just that A Jin wasn’t important. Now, Wei Shu is treating A Jin like a precious jewel. Can you do that?” Zi Yuan sighed as she looked at Song Zhimin’s slightly pale face.
"I'm giving you this advice out of consideration for our past acquaintance. Ah Jin has truly moved on. Perhaps marrying Wei Shu was just a temporary measure at first, but Ah Jin is no exception; everyone has a heart. Now, her heart belongs to Wei Shu, not you." Zi Yuan sat on the stool, looking at Song Zhimin.
“You know Ah Jin. The moment you made your choice, it was destined that there was no possibility between you and her.”
