Chapter 31 Forbidden Forest

The Halloween atmosphere at Hogwarts is very lively, with pumpkin decorations and bats...

Lots of bats.

There were probably more than a thousand live bats circling densely on the ceiling, and some bats were flying up and down, and the vibration of their wings made the candlelight flicker. Some bats swarmed onto the table, and from a distance they looked like a large dark cloud.

Peacock took one look at the decorations in the hall before returning to his dorm to watch the show using magic.

"Why?"

"I'm afraid of being caught by bats!" Peacock was afraid of bats that were only slightly smaller than she was now.

It was so crowded that she was almost having a panic attack.

Except for the opening ceremony party, students were not required to wear school uniforms, as they all wore fancy clothes. However, Snape wore a school uniform on this occasion.

Lucius, dressed as a vampire, curiously asked Snape why he was dressed like that.

"I'm playing a wizard," Snape replied.

Lucius: ...

The person listening nearby: ...

How come this cold joke doesn’t freeze us to death?

In fact, the pumpkin-themed clothes prepared by Peacock were so cute that he couldn't wear them out. After his "desperate resistance", they finally only added a small pumpkin pendant to his wand.

Regulus watched Snape, who was sitting in a secluded place and moving secretly towards the outside, and he quietly followed him.

At this lively banquet, no one cared that there were two people missing from the Slytherin table. The teacher would not check the number of people, and even if they were missing, they would just think they went to the bathroom.

Snape rubbed his ears after he went out: "It's really noisy."

He was not interested in the performance above, so he planned to leave after eating. Seeing that they were all immersed in the fun, Snape slipped away.

Regulus called out to Snape, "Senior, are you going back to the dormitory?"

"No, I'm going out for a walk." Snape wanted to go out and breathe some fresh air. The hall was too stuffy, with the smell of food, burning candles, and a strong human odor.

He felt like he was suffocating.

"Mind if I tag along?"

"No problem."

Snape and Regulus were walking beside the Black Lake. The cool night breeze blew over, slowly calming Snape's heart, which was irritated by the noisy environment.

Looking at the surface of the Black Lake shimmering in the wind, Snape walked over.

"Senior!" Regulus subconsciously reached out to Rasnap, but when he saw him standing on the water, he patted his chest and said, "So, Senior can stay on the surface of the lake."

"Yes, she taught me." After leaving Spider Tail Alley, we walked upstream. The water there was clear and peacocks often danced on the water.

It wasn't really dancing, there was no melody, none of the things that require dancing. She just jumped a few times on the water and did a few dance moves as she pleased. But she was beautiful, and even her gymnastics looked as good as dancing.

Peacock looked at Snape sitting on the shore in a daze, so she pulled Snape aside and taught him the magic that allowed him to walk on the water.

Regulus didn't ask who "she" was, because he knew Snape wouldn't tell.

Snape looked at Regulus, who knew when to keep his composure and his mood suddenly brightened. He held out his hand to Regulus and said, "Want to take a walk on the Black Lake? I'll hold you."

As the peacock passed by, he looked at Snape, who was in a daze on the shore, and stretched out his hand to him: "Do you want to try walking on the water? Come on, I won't let you fall."

Unlike Snape, who had to be invited several times by Peacock before coming to the surface of the water, Regulus happily took Snape's hand and stepped onto the lake.

Snape was so quick that he almost didn't react, and Regulus almost fell into the water.

Snape transferred the magic to Regulus and then pulled him towards the center of the lake.

Regulus felt the soft yet unsinkable water beneath his feet, and suddenly felt his heart gradually relax with each step.

It feels very decompressing.

My troubles seemed to slowly sink to the bottom of the lake.

"Thank you." Regulus thanked him.

He suddenly wanted to confide in Snape.

About controlling parents.

Rebellious brother.

Their daily arguments were so intense they could burn the house down.

The gaze that was transferred to him.

And that adult.

But it doesn't work.

He couldn't transfer his troubles to Snape.

He looked up at the moon in the sky, and then at the lake surface reflected in silver under his feet.

"There's a story in the wizarding world about dancing on a lake in the moonlight, and your troubles will be taken away by the moon," said Regulus.

Snape nodded. "I saw it, and then a witch dancing under the moon, worrying about why her lover didn't love her.

As a result, his sweetheart died the next day and was taken away by the moon."

Regulus: ...

"It seems like we're not reading the same story." He was reading a children's wizard fairy tale.

Snape read horror stories for adults.

"Can Senior Snape dance? The kind of ballroom dance." Regulus felt his romantic genes stirring.

Snape shook his head: "No."

"Shall I teach you?" Regulus suggested.

"I won't learn." Snape refused coldly.

Regulus: ...

"Okay, senior is really calm." Obviously this kind of environment and atmosphere are perfect for dancing.

Snape: No matter how good the atmosphere is, it's not suitable to dance with a man, right?

Currently, Severus Snape considers himself completely heterosexual and sometimes really can't understand the sexual orientation of people around him.
