Chapter 36: Third Grade

Voldemort looked at the work he had assigned the previous afternoon and received the results this morning. Although the result was what he wanted, but -

As expected of the Malfoy family? They had a keen eye for talent, first him and now Snape.

What a good vision.

Malfoy certainly has a good vision. Their method of making friends with geniuses is mainly to cast a wide net and catch more fish. One of the ten ways is to make a lot of money.

Regardless of their skill in identifying gems, the Unicorn Rescue Foundation was established a few days before the end of the holiday.

The main efforts are to protect unicorns through medicine and combating poachers.

Snape was in the pub with Riddle watching the news when the newspaper came out.

Snape looked at today's newspaper, which was given to him by the owner here very carefully. He could tell at a glance who had handed him the newspaper.

How should I put it, when Death Eaters do this kind of work, I feel like they are more like the kind who, after beating up the poachers, start poaching themselves, and then study unicorns in the name of medical treatment.

Apparently other people had the same idea, for Snape heard a number of similar voices in the tavern.

Riddle: ...

"That lord would not do such a thing," Snape said calmly.

"How do you know? He is an unforgivable devil." Riddle said with a smile as the enemy described him.

When Snape was in a normal mood, his voice was always flat, but inexplicably convincing, as if everything he said was meaningful.

"If he wanted to do that, no one would know, so why bother?" Snape said matter-of-factly.

Riddle laughed. He really disdained to do such shady things. If he wanted a unicorn, there were thousands of ways to get it. Why did he have to use such a criticized method?

"You know him?" Riddle's red eyes stared at Snape.

Snape carefully folded the newspaper in his hand. Since they were currently on break and chatting, Peacock asked him via voice transmission if he could fold a butterfly for her.

It seems that girls are always like this. When they have some useless paper in their hands, they will think about folding something. Lily also often folds paper cranes with draft paper. The difference is that Lily folds them by herself, while Peacock will instruct Snape with peace of mind.

Snape is clever and skillful, and he will never forget the origami steps he has seen. Peacock often brings paper to Snape and asks him to fold things for him. He also has a bit of obsessive-compulsive disorder, and he must align all the edges and corners so that the folded paper looks beautiful.

He was busy now, so he casually replied, "I don't understand, but isn't something this simple obvious? Only losers would believe in superstitions and make wild guesses."

Riddle's smile widened. His bloodshot eyes seemed to be filled with sticky blood, extending along his line of sight towards the person he was looking at. "They are indeed useless. Their only use may be to make the gems shine brightly."

"Without waste, a gem is still a gem. If it needs to be set off by waste to shine, then it can't be a good gem." Snape folded the newspaper, a gray paper butterfly. Snape used a Peacock Cult magic, and colorful colors spread to the butterfly little by little.

What finally appeared in his hand was a blue-green butterfly with gold glitter.

Snape picked it up and looked at it for a moment. Riddle was already reaching out to take it, and then Snape put it in his bag.

What is given to the peacock should be kept properly.

"Who are you giving it to?" Riddle asked casually.

"Hmm." Snape hummed.

Riddle didn't ask any more questions, but when he went to buy potion ingredients later, he asked Snape: "Don't you want to buy a gift for the girl who gave you the butterfly?"

"No, she doesn't like potions." Snape looked at the quality of the ingredients intently.

"Oh." Riddle knew how much Snape loved potions, and their topics were basically either potions or magic, occasionally mixed with a few words about current affairs and regional customs in the wizarding world, but at that time Snape basically just listened because he didn't understand those things.

I didn't expect Snape to have a friend who didn't like potions.

"I'm going to school next week and won't be here anymore." Snape said as he took out a small golden pendant from his schoolbag. It was a small golden ball.

Crystal (the name of the little unicorn) recently replenished its nutrition, and then started to shed its hair in the summer. Snape had to take time to comb its hair. Who would have thought that another "unicorn" could be combed out of one unicorn at the beginning.

Later, the peacock used all the feathers to make felt for fun. She planned to collect more and give the little unicorn a felt version of itself when it grew up.

This small golden pendant is made of crystal hair and is very simple. It is an image of a silver-white snake lying on a golden ball, with Snape being pulled by a peacock.

Snape may be a master of handicrafts because of his experience in brewing potions. He has steady hands and is patient, and he does a good job of making these handicrafts.

"To celebrate the unicorn's rescue." No matter what his motivation was, it was enough that the unicorn could be helped.

"For me?"

"If there's anyone else here."

"Thank you. I will keep it well. When school starts, we can use the two-way mirror to keep in touch. I look forward to you asking me questions."

Snape thought for a moment and decided to ask: "See you next Saturday?"

"See you next Saturday."

After Riddle left, Snape and Peacock still didn't know what Riddle was up to, but no matter what, he had to use the current conditions to strengthen himself as soon as possible so that he could protect himself after Riddle got tired of the teacher-student game.
