Chapter 4: Way Out

"My personality is not similar to yours???" Bai Guangying was shocked.

Tanjiro was puzzled: "How are they similar?"

Bai Guangying thought about it carefully and realized that there really wasn't one. For example, Tanjiro likes to give to his family and he likes the feeling of being needed.

Bai Guangying didn't have that. She wanted to give because she had always been exploited by others, which made her afraid of being useless and abandoned.

She has her own pride. She was uneasy when she first arrived. She doesn't smile often and she is not as happy every day as Tanjiro.

After being here for so long, she thought about Wonderland, herself, the past, and freedom, which are things that Tanjiro would never think about.

To put it nicely, Tanjiro is a simple boy, but to put it bluntly, he has no better plans for the future. If nothing unexpected happens, he may spend his whole life burning charcoal in the mountains, seeing his mother off, and watching his younger brothers and sisters have their own families.

A very ordinary life.

He did not have as delicate and sensitive a mind as Bai Guangying, and his current knowledge and insights were not enough to help him think about a broader future.

Bai Guangying looked at Tanjiro. Compared to her, a fairy who had lived for many years and experienced many things, this child who grew up in a harmonious family in the mountains was a blank slate.

So Bai Guangying initially picked up some of Tanjiro's personality traits, but that personality trait seemed insignificant compared to Bai Guangying's own melancholy, and soon her thoughts changed to the personality traits that came with Tanjiro.

So Bai Guangying’s current personality is a new personality built on Tanjiro’s personality due to her own consciousness and ideas.

Bai Guangying watched and finally couldn't help but covered her mouth and laughed: "Tanjiro, you are really, really cute."

"Huh?" Tanjiro didn't understand why Bai Guangying said that, but it was really good to see Bai Guangying happy and the previous sadness had disappeared.

"Ahem!" The winter night was still too cold, and Tanjiro couldn't help but sneeze.

Bai Guangying reached out and tapped Tanjiro on the forehead. White light from her fingertips enveloped Tanjiro's entire body, and Tanjiro suddenly felt no longer cold.

Bai Guangying, who had figured out some things that made her happy, said apologetically, "I forgot that you humans are afraid of the cold."

Tanjiro scratched his hair and said, "I wanted to do some exercise to warm myself up. I can dance Kagura."

"Kagura dance?" Bai Guangying could understand the literal meaning, but she had never seen it before.

Seeing Bai Guangying's curiosity, Tanjiro stood up, picked up a wooden stick and gestured twice: "This is called Fire God Kagura. I just know the movements. I am different from my father. There is a very beautiful feeling when my father dances. I may not have much talent."

"No, Tanjiro is just not skilled. He will look good when he becomes skilled. I want to see it. Dance for me, Tanjiro." Bai Guangying praised Tanjiro.

Tanjiro was a little embarrassed, but he still did all the moves again, and was exhausted and breathless in the end: "I still can't do it. I have good physical strength, but every time I do this dance, my body feels heavy. But my father can dance it out completely easily, and even dance all night long."

Bai Guangying watched Tanjiro's dance, which only had form but no meaning, and found it not pretty. The continuous dance looked like gymnastics in Tanjiro's hands.

But she looked at Tanjiro's hand holding the wooden stick. After Tanjiro explained that the wooden stick was a Kagura bell, did you hold the Kagura bell the same way you hold a sword?

In addition to the staff, her own magical weapon is also a blade of light. The way of holding this kind of cold weapon is different, but they also have similarities, so she can tell at a glance that Tanjiro's way of holding it is definitely not for dancing.

So this might be a martial art transformed into a dance.

Bai Guangying stretched out her hand and a blade of light that matched Tanjiro's height appeared in the air: "Tanjiro, catch it and follow the movements of the weapon and do it again."

A small blade of light also appeared in Bai Guangying's hand. She had just watched it once and memorized the movements. She swung the weapon, and Tanjiro was controlled to swing his weapon as well.

Tanjiro saw flames appear on the blade, and when he opened his eyes again, he woke up in bed, surrounded by the concerned eyes of his family.

"What's wrong with me?" Tanjiro was a little confused. He remembered that he was learning Fire God Kagura from Bai Guangying, but he had no recollection of it.

Bai Guangying was also somewhat helpless: "It seems that your body cannot withstand the sword skills and you fainted."

She was also frightened last night and was relieved after checking that Tanjiro was okay.

The sword technique she used yesterday was indeed very powerful. Since she was a fairy, it was no problem, but Tanjiro, a child, couldn't bear it and fainted directly.

"It seems I need more training." Tanjiro sighed.

This made Bai Guangying feel uncomfortable: "At least say a few words of complaint."

Tanjiro obviously didn't care much: "Guangying doesn't know either. Can you still teach me the Fire God Kagura later?"

"Of course it's fine if you want to."

"We want to learn too!" The children were relieved to see that Tanjiro was fine. When they heard Tanjiro and Bai Guangying talking about learning the Fire God Kagura, they joined in the fun.

Bai Guangying looked at them gently and said, "Of course you can, but you have to exercise well."

Although she said she was going to teach Tanjiro the Fire God Kagura, Bai Guangying had no idea how to help humans train their bodies. Tanjiro was fine, as they shared their immortal power, which would transform Tanjiro's body. Even if he didn't train, his body would slowly get better. But as for the others...

So how do humans exercise?
