Chapter 40 Christmas Gift

"Well, good night," Riddle said softly.

"Good night."

When Snape woke up the next day, he looked at the moved two-way mirror and thought for a while before remembering what happened yesterday. It turned out that the wine he drank before still had an effect, and he would never drink it again.

Peacock looked at Snape quietly. She could sense that the relationship between Snape and Riddle was getting better and better. Even though Snape always thought that he just wanted to learn magic, how could human emotions be controlled by reason?

She gave a tentative reminder, but Snape didn't think it was wrong.

In the end, Peacock just looked at Snape and said, "It's okay, as long as you don't get hurt."

It was another Saturday. Snape had just hung up the two-way mirror when Regulus moved a chair over and sat down. "Who are you tutoring with, Senior? Can I join you? I can pay all the tuition fees."

Regulus was only joking.

Snape smiled and said, "I'll introduce him to you if I get a chance."

Regulus suddenly shuddered, wondering why he felt something was wrong.

"What's the matter?" Snape asked.

"Senior, do you want to go to Hogsmeade? It's Christmas, let's go shopping together." Regulus invited Snape. He was not old enough and Snape did not have his parents' signature, so they all needed to go through the secret passage.

"Okay." Snape originally wanted to refuse, but Regulus was only in the second year, and the secret passage could not be publicized. He was the only one who could be invited. After thinking about it, Snape agreed.

Just in time to buy something for Peacock.

Peacock happily agreed to go shopping, went to Hogsmeade for a walk, and bought a lot of things.

Regulus could see that many things were probably what Peacock liked. He knew Peacock. Last Christmas he received a gift from Peacock, a real guitar, saying thank you for taking care of Snape.

Snape usually doesn't hide Peacock, but he won't tell anyone if they really ask him. They are all very curious about Peacock, but Snape has rejected every request to meet him.

"Mystery is part of her beauty," Snape said.

There was still no snow on Christmas this year, and Regulus gave Snape a magic book, which was a copy he found in the library at home.

Snape liked it very much and gave Regulus a brooch that could protect the soul, which was his latest creation.

Snape didn't expect that Peacock gave him a big surprise. How big was it?

A basilisk over 30 meters long.

"Peacock?"

"I always felt that there was something behind the wall, so I used magic to get through and found it. It was dormant. Don't you want the basilisk's venom?" Peacock said with a smile.

"...Okay, but first make sure I don't get killed."
