Chapter 14, Day 3 (Intermission)

Chapter 14, Day 3 (Intermission)

Gojo Satoru had a dream.

The location in the dream wasn't strange at all; it was a high school of sorcery.

The only difference is the timeline.

The magic academy he dreamed of was not the one with Yuujin Itadori and Nobara Kugizaki, but the one with Ichikawa and Yuta Otsukotsu from before.

Gojo Satoru remembers that the first time he met Edakawa was at the vocational high school.

Unlike his strange first meetings with Yuta Otoko or Hisahito Itadori, his meeting with Edakawa was just a very ordinary teacher-student encounter.

When Zenjima arrived with Egawa, who was dressed in a neat high school uniform, Gojo Satoru simply scanned the new student, whom he had never met before, from head to toe.

She had short, light blue hair, a beautiful face, and a fair neck.

Without a doubt, Edakawa is very handsome. Moreover, his good looks are not at all unpleasant or aggressive; on the contrary, they have a unique approachability, and he exudes a gentle and clean aura.

The only thing unclear was the eyes, because the interplay of sunlight and shadow made it difficult to discern the subtle colors deep within the pupils.

"Huh."

So Gojo Satoru approached Egawa Ori as if to probe, but the latter was slightly startled by his sudden closeness. He blinked and hadn't yet figured out what was going on when Gojo Satoru took the initiative to distance himself.

“It’s dark blue,” he laughed, a bit like a child who had just learned the answer to a riddle.

Egawa continued blinking, and after another two seconds, he finally realized what he was saying.

"Is the teacher talking about my eyes?" he asked.

“You guessed right.” Gojo Satoru snapped his fingers, his tone almost praising. “Or.”

Edakawa was a little confused by the way he addressed her, and subconsciously turned his head to look at Zenin Maki, who was standing next to him with her arms crossed.

That expression was practically saying: Is Gojo-sensei really this outgoing?

Then, the message that Zenin Maki conveyed with her eyes was: Hmm.

Edakawa is probably a very good student.

Gojo Satoru always thought this way, but that doesn't mean he always thought Edagawa was a good sorcerer.

But just like when Nanami Kento mentioned Edakawa to him, he protectively said, "People always have to grow up."

Although he spoke with a cheerful, nonchalant expression, Gojo Satoru knew that he meant no part of it—no evasion or perfunctory response. He had simply seen the potential for transformation in the deep blue eyes that occasionally shone when Egawa was exorcising the curse.

Gojo Satoru still remembers the time he turned around and saw Egawa or those deep blue eyes that shone with a dazzling light when he was exorcising a special-grade curse.

He was stunned for almost half a second.

—It's quite pretty.

Then, rather inappropriately, I thought of this.

As he passed by Zhichuan, he raised his hand and ruffled the boy's light blue head, saying matter-of-factly, "I told you I'm the strongest."

Later, whenever he looked back at Erikawa, he would see those eyes that seemed to be flowing with a stream.

It gets brighter and more beautiful with each iteration.

Finally, the babbling brook merged into a rushing river.

So much so that when he later talked about Ori Egawa with Kento Nanami, he was both proud and very confident: "See, I told you Ori would grow, didn't I?"

Nanami Kento didn't really want to talk to him, but he did agree with what Gojo Satoru said.

“Edakawa is indeed a very good sorcerer now,” he said.

Unfortunately, this excellence did not last as long as he had hoped.

When Inuma was injured and Edakawa was unconscious, Gojo Satoru would visit them from time to time. However, Inuma recovered quickly, so later it became the two of them visiting Edakawa from time to time.

I forget which time it was, but Ieiri Shoko said, "You care about Egawa a lot."

Then Gojo Satoru said matter-of-factly, "Of course. After all, he is my student, so it's normal for me to think of my student's needs."

Shoko Ieiri glanced at him and asked again, "Is that all?"

This time, Gojo Satoru didn't immediately give a matter-of-fact answer.

He stood there, frozen in place, and before he could answer, Ieiri Shoko left, seemingly not expecting a reply from him.

Is that all?

They knew it all too well.

On the day the results came out, Gojo Satoru waited silently for Ieiri Shoko to explain.

Shoko Ieiri, holding the notepad, immediately understood what he was thinking. With one hand in her white coat pocket, she leaned against the desk: "Edakawa's coma wasn't due to a curse. As I said, he wasn't harmed by outsiders; Inuma protected him very well. So it has nothing to do with you. Whether you were by his side or not, he would have passed out."

"Why is that?" Gojo Satoru asked.

"have no idea."

This answer already foreshadowed a bad omen, but Gojo Satoru still asked, "Is there no other way?"

Is there no other way?

Indeed, it wasn't just Egawa or Kazuya who asked Ieiri this question after she woke up.

Back when his consciousness was still in a dark period, Gojo Satoru, Zenin Maki, Inuyama Toshiki, Otsuko Yuta, and Panda had already asked him all.

Unfortunately, they all received the same negative answer.

--"no way."

Ieiri Glass always says this.

The doctor knew, of course, what her "there's nothing I can do" meant, but that was the truth.

However, in her memory, among all the people who had asked her this question, the one who acted the most normally after she said there was no way to do it was Egawa.

He sighed softly, then smiled faintly, revealing a dimple on his cheek: "Well, there's nothing I can do about that then."

After leaving the spellcasting academy, they began to get used to days without the light blue-haired boy.

However, Ieiri Shoko noticed that Gojo Satoru would still visit him from time to time—after all, his techniques were very convenient.

She tried to talk to Gojo Satoru about this issue.

However, Gojo Satoru said, "Shoko, accepting or leaving the vocational high school is my bottom line."

He wasn't wearing an eye mask; instead, he was wearing sunglasses, revealing a striking blue eye beneath his silver eyelashes.

“You can’t make me accept that he’s completely out of my life.”
