Chapter 22: You said he's dead, what a pity.
Xu Si'an's cold lips pressed against her tear-stained eyes.
His questions went unanswered, and he held her for a long time before finally putting her back on the bed and covering her with a blanket.
His thin lips covered her soft lips, and Qiao Xu didn't even dare to breathe too hard.
The lights went out, and Qiao Xu clenched her nightgown tightly under the covers.
He's leaving, right?
That's fine.
Just treat it as a dream.
Xu Si'an picked up the bag he had thrown on the floor and went into the bathroom.
Afraid of waking Qiao Xu, he didn't even turn on the light.
Qiao Xu opened her eyes and looked in the direction of the bathroom.
Her bathroom was small, and she could see the shadows of people inside.
"Xu Si'an, I miss you too."
Qiao Xu admitted that Xu Si'an was much more effective than the medicine prescribed by the doctor.
After her father passed away, she felt guilty, powerless, anxious, and fearful.
But no one could help her.
Her mother's health was also poor. In order not to worry her mother, she always endured it, which led to her anxiety becoming more and more serious.
Slowly, in every lonely, dark night, her physical form trapped her in a dead end.
When Xu Si'an came out of the shower, he saw that Qiao Xu's face was facing the bathroom.
He was afraid of being discovered by her and being kicked out.
The man slowly knelt down beside the bed and gently kissed her lips: "Goodnight, Qiaoqiao."
Qiao Xu had already drifted off to sleep, but woke up again when she heard the bathroom door open.
She could feel him squatting in front of her, and she could feel him kissing her.
The other side of the bed sank slightly, and a hand appeared around Qiao Xu's waist.
Xu Si'an didn't dare to hug her too tightly, afraid of waking her up.
When Qiao Xu woke up, there was no one beside her.
There was a glass of water on the bedside table that had gone cold.
She picked up her phone and glanced at the time.
One o'clock in the afternoon.
Today is the last overseas meeting, so I can go to the office at six o'clock.
Qiao Xu hadn't slept so comfortably in a long time, and her complexion had improved a lot.
After quickly cooking herself a bowl of noodles, she turned on the home security camera footage.
I saw that Xu Si'an left at 8:30.
I was almost asleep last night when it was almost dawn.
"Forget it, what does it have to do with me?"
After lunch, she couldn't sleep anymore and watched the security camera footage from the living room after she came home last night.
This surveillance camera was originally bought to monitor cherries.
Now Cherry doesn't want it, but Dog Dad is using it first.
Qiao Xu saw Xu Si'an come out of the bedroom and opened her drawer: "You're smoking my cigarettes again."
I kept fast-forwarding to the scene after he left, when the door reopened.
The living room has motion-sensor lights, and the surveillance cameras captured Xu Si'an's expression clearly after he entered.
Is he upset because he found out the door code?
"Studying too much has made him stupid."
Qiao Xu smiled slightly and made a phone call to her mother.
She sat by the door putting on her shoes and said helplessly, "Mom, don't worry about me. You should find yourself a companion when you have time. My dad was most worried about you having no one to keep you company before he passed away."
Qiao's mother scolded her over the phone: "If you find a boyfriend, I won't have to worry about you anymore."
"Xiao Zhe said you had a fever again recently."
Qiao Xu cursed Meng Zhe in her heart, vowing to make Cherry bite his tattletale mouth another day.
"Xuxu, listen to your mother. I'll feel at ease if you have someone with you."
Qiao Xu replied perfunctorily, "I know, I'll find it for you right away."
It was still early, so Qiao Xu walked to catch the bus.
"What are your requirements? How tall do you want him to be? How handsome do you want him to be? Do you want him to have some money?"
Qiao's mother laughed in exasperation: "I'll tell you to find a boyfriend."
"I was just asking you about your criteria for finding a boyfriend."
"What you like."
When Qiao Xu heard these four words, a face appeared in her mind.
She chuckled, "There probably aren't any for now. Why don't you introduce someone?"
The bus stop was just a few hundred meters from the entrance of the residential area. Qiao Xu sat on the chair waiting for the bus, watching the cars come and go in a daze.
Four years have passed, and she feels like she's never had a day this relaxed.
"Mom, do you remember my boyfriend from college who said he wanted to marry me?"
Qiao's mother said, "I remember, didn't you say you were planning to get married? Your father and I had already prepared your dowry, but then you said he died. It's such a pity. The young man was quite handsome."
Xu Si'an: ? ? ?
For a moment, Qiao Xu felt sorry for Xu Si'an.
"Mom, I lied to you and Dad. He's not dead."
Qiao's mother exploded: "Qiao Xu, your father and I have really spoiled you. How can you just say such curses?"
The car arrived, and Qiao Xu took the opportunity to hang up the phone: "Mom, I have to go to work, I can't talk to you anymore, Mom, I love you, bye-bye."
Xu Si'an sneezed three times in a row in the president's office, and Song Jia quickly poured him a cup of hot water.
"Mr. Xu, do you have a cold?"
Xu Si'an sniffed: "It's nothing."
"Have you booked your flight to Los Angeles?"
Song Jia nodded: "President Xu, may I ask if you and Sister Xu knew each other before?"
It's no wonder he's so gossipy; just half an hour ago, Xu Si'an had him book his and Qiao Xu's tickets to Los Angeles.
He was just about to contact the HR department to send over Qiao Xu's ID number.
As a result, his boss blurted out.
this······
It's hard for him not to overthink things.
Xu Si'an took a sip of water: "So what if we know each other? So what if we don't?"
"What, you've taken a fancy to her?"
Song Jia scratched the back of his head: "No, I showed it to my cousin. He's about to go back to China, and my aunt is worried that no one will want him, so she asked me to keep an eye out for him."
Song Jia's cousin is also Xu Si'an's subordinate.
The man's smile deepened: "Tell your aunt that he's not coming back."
"ah?"
"Mr. Xu, isn't my brother coming back to take over the sales department?"
Xu Si'an chuckled: "Did I say that?"
Qiao Xu passed by a dessert shop near her company when she got off the bus.
Their signature lime Basque dessert is so popular that getting a taste depends entirely on luck.
I saw two left in the fridge when I passed by, so I asked someone to pack them up.
When Song Jia came out of the president's office, she bumped into Qiao Xu: "Sister Xu, why are you here so early? Don't you start work at six?"
"I came because there was nothing else."
"By the way, this cake is delicious. You probably haven't had it since you just got back."
Qiao Xu put another cake in the refrigerator in the break room, so that the other two secretaries could eat it together when they came to work.
Song Jia happily went back to her office.
Xu Si'an flipped through the contract: "Is there anything else?"
"Mr. Xu, Sister Xu bought me a cake. Would you like to eat it with me?"
The black contract slammed shut with a "snap".
"Give it to me, then put it down."
Song Jia thought he wanted to eat it, and prepared to open the cake box.
"Don't move."
He picked up his phone and sent him a WeChat red envelope: "Go buy it yourself."
"Mr. Xu, this is..."
"I bought it, it's mine now."
Song Jia opened the red envelope and exclaimed, "President Xu, you're too stingy! You can't even buy this cake for fifty yuan."
I wish he hadn't come in.
Xu Si'an transferred another fifty yuan to him.
"That's enough."
Song Jia persisted: "President Xu, I remember you don't eat sweets."
"You're mistaken, I really like sweets."
