Chapter 19 "At least he's not a madman..."
“At least he’s not crazy.” Liu Duanhe winked and smiled.
Feng Xingyun nodded, his tall body leaning against a pillar in the parking lot, his long legs half-bent and half-extended. "You're right."
Liu Duanhe tried to hold back, but couldn't help grabbing his arm and pulling him up. "Don't lean against the pillar, it's dirty."
Feng Xingyun straightened up and, unusually embarrassed, touched his nose. "I accidentally forgot."
Once he got on the bus, he didn't lean back in his seat the whole way, keeping his back straight and sitting upright like a primary school student.
For safety reasons, Liu Duanhe always drove with complete focus, and it wasn't until he arrived at the racetrack that he noticed Feng Xingyun's posture.
Unable to suppress a laugh, I asked, "You maintained that posture the whole way?"
"Actually, I drive the car once and then put it in the garage, and then it will be sent to be cleaned."
After listening, Feng Xingyun remained silent for a while, pursing his lips. His ears turned red in the darkness. He chuckled and said, "What a nuisance."
Liu Duanhe wasn't angry. "My psychologist also said that I have a mental illness, and I will probably recover when the pressure is less."
He frowned and said, "You're an only child in your family, so why are you under so much pressure?"
Liu Duanhe said calmly, "With more responsibilities and higher expectations of oneself, the pressure will naturally increase." He clearly didn't want to talk about it in detail anymore.
This time, Feng Xingyun's attitude was much more peaceful. At least this time it wasn't just a perfunctory response. Besides, every family has its own problems, and it's understandable that he doesn't want to talk about certain things.
Liu Duanhe pulled out the key and got out of the car first. Seeing this, Feng Xingyun also unbuckled his seatbelt and followed him, walking beside him.
He had contacted the racetrack manager before leaving home, and as soon as he entered the racetrack, he was greeted by screams from men and women, a boisterous and joyful atmosphere.
The racetrack was bustling late at night, filled with all sorts of spoiled rich kids, young masters and ladies, their entourages, and a large number of staff serving them.
Sparks flew as the tires raced wildly across the ground, eliciting another burst of excited screams from the audience, releasing the raw, primal hormones of everyone present.
Those drivers who once raced on the F3 circuit are now facing a dilemma: whether to give it their all or let those rich kids have some fun and avoid making things look bad.
After all, it's practically impossible for a bunch of enthusiasts to compete against professional racers who rely on racing for their skills and win any prizes.
Liu Duanhe was so bothered by the noise that he sat down in the last row.
Feng Xingyun followed him to his seat. Since it was practically a private event and not open to the public, almost everyone was in the front row, leaving the back row empty.
He turned his head and said, "You can sit in the front, don't worry about me."
The seats in the audience were very close together, and Liu Duanhe's presence was very noticeable at that distance. Feng Xingyun felt a little uncomfortable, and his dark eyes turned back in a second, looking straight ahead.
"There are so many people, it's annoying to be squeezed in front."
Liu Duanhe nodded in deep agreement.
The two sat quietly in the back row and watched the game. Actually, the game was already halfway through when they entered the stadium, but fortunately, neither of them cared.
After watching for a while, Liu Duanhe, who originally knew nothing, also began to find it interesting. The strategy team's decisions, the drivers' choices of tire hardness, and so on, were indeed very entertaining and exciting.
But this peaceful and tranquil atmosphere was soon shattered by an unexpected event.
The person in the front row turned their head unintentionally and noticed two figures appearing in the back row.
Liu Duanhe's face is undeniably highly recognizable.
Even if some of the spoiled rich kids present had never met Liu Duanhe before, they must have encountered him at the banquet and couldn't possibly not recognize him.
Red Hair put down the ribbon in his hand and walked to the back row with great interest.
It was someone Liu Duanhe knew. Recently, their family and Hongmao's company had a project collaboration. Hongmao's older brother, the heir to Changfeng Group, is currently the CEO and is acquainted with Liu Duanhe.
Chang Wennuo greeted everyone from a distance, as if they were old friends. Because the noise was so loud, he basically shouted.
"Brother Liu, what brings you to watch the races?"
Liu Duanhe put on a business-like, gentle smile. "I came with a friend."
After hesitating for a moment, he still didn't mention their relationship. Even though same-sex marriage law had been passed several years ago, public opinion hadn't changed that quickly.
He had previously checked his WeChat Moments and other private social circles, but there was no public information. This suggests that they were likely in a secret relationship. Therefore, without discussing it with Feng Xingyun, he decided to keep it a secret.
Chang Wennuo was not surprised by this answer at all. Young Master Liu was known for his good temper, great charm, and many friends.
Even his cold-hearted, sharp-tongued, and inhuman elder brother couldn't say a bad word about Liu Duanhe. When chatting with his father, whenever Liu Duanhe was mentioned, the two of them would launch into a competition of praising him, showering him with compliments, especially on his work ability. Even "smiling tiger" became a compliment.
He was also introduced to Liu Duanhe a few times, and it can only be said that his reputation was well-deserved; no wonder he was recognized as a top figure in their circle.
After glancing at Feng Xingyun a few more times, Chang Wennuo remembered who he was. "Ah, I know you. Your family's main business was medical, and then you switched to semiconductors, right?"
They both liked sports cars and had met a few times. Although Feng Xingyun didn't often appear at the banquets, partly because his family had moved to Beijing in recent years, and partly because he was busy during high school and disliked the flamboyant and fake atmosphere at banquets, he could chat with anyone he bumped into.
Given his rebellious temperament at that time, ignoring people could easily offend them and lead to fights.
Fortunately, thanks to his parents' hard work, his family has developed rapidly in recent years and is now poised to become a near-first-class enterprise, even challenging the top three. This has given Feng Xingyun, who has been out of the public eye for a long time, some recognition.
Feng Xingyun nodded indifferently, showing no desire to speak, and his eyes held a hint of annoyance at being disturbed.
Liu Duanhe glanced at him and tried to smooth things over, saying, "You sit down too. I heard from your brother that you're preparing to go abroad for a master's degree, aren't you?"
"Why haven't they left yet?"
Chang Wennuo also had a bad temper. Noticing Feng Xingyun's impatience, his face immediately lost its expression and fell.
Hearing Liu Duanhe's words, he hesitated for a moment before taking the steps and sitting down with Liu Duanhe, saying, "There are still some procedures to be completed."
Liu Duanhe smiled and gently pressed down on Feng Xingyun's arm with his left hand, "Your older brother often praises you to me for being sensible and fond of learning."
Chang Wennuo curled his lip. "He actually speaks well of me outside?"
"He has a sharp tongue but a soft heart. There are many things he's embarrassed to say to you in person, but actually, he's very proud of you."
Chang Wennuo's lips began to curl up uncontrollably. "What else did he say about me to Brother Liu?"
Seeing that Chang Wennuo's attitude had softened and he had forgotten the unpleasantness just now, Liu Duanhe smiled and continued, "When we were eating, he mentioned that you were very brave when you were a child. After the girl at the table was pulled by the girl behind you and cried, you went up to stop him and even called the teacher to help educate him."
Chang Wennuo's face slowly turned red. "Ah, really, why does Big Brother say everything?"
The two chatted casually while watching the game, but Liu Duanhe didn't forget Feng Xingyun, mentioning him every now and then.
They all enjoy watching car track racing, so they still have something to talk about.
After the competition ended, Chang Wennuo felt that Liu Duanhe was practically his half-brother. He was not only good-looking but also incredibly kind-hearted. He even helped mediate the relationship between Chang Wennuo and his father and brother. The two of them calling him a "smiling tiger" was simply slander!
It's all envy, jealousy, and hatred!
After they parted reluctantly at the door, Chang Wennuo, like an enthusiastic little shadow, kept pulling Liu Duan and talking endlessly, while Feng Xingyun's face had turned as black as the bottom of a pot.
If Liu Duanhe hadn't offered to drive Feng Xingyun home, Chang Wennuo would have taken him there.
After opening the car door and sitting down, Feng Xingyun snorted and said coldly, "Has this Chang Wennuo never spoken a word in his life? He hasn't stopped talking all night."
Liu Duanhe turned to stare at him expressionlessly, then pinched his arm hard. "If I hadn't been there, were you planning to take action?"
He's not really a good-tempered person; he hates anything that causes trouble.
Feng Xingyun frowned in pain, but he wasn't angry. He even found Liu Duanhe's unrestrained scolding and outburst quite novel.
He didn't confront Liu Duanhe directly, but simply said, "He also had problems at the time; he was provoking me with his eyes."
Liu Duanhe turned his body to the side and moved closer to him. Feng Xingyun's pupils shrank suddenly as he saw Liu Duanhe's face gradually enlarging before him.
His pale skin was still dazzling in the dimly lit car, with black hair and red lips, making him breathtakingly handsome.
He gently patted Feng Xingyun's face and calmly said, "So are you a dog? You can be provoked by just a glance?"
Despite the insulting words, Feng Xingyun found himself shamefully not angry; in fact, his heart began to race, his throat felt thirsty, and he felt a surge of excitement.
His open collar revealed his neck and pectoral muscles. His Adam's apple bobbed as he stared intently at Liu Duanhe's opening and closing mouth. His bright red lips and tongue, and his snow-white teeth, were expressionless, yet incredibly sexy.
Feng Xingyun awkwardly pushed Liu Duanhe away, shifted his position uncomfortably, crossed his legs, nodded haphazardly a few times, and began to question the meaning of life.
Liu Duanhe didn't think of anything else and didn't argue with him anymore. After exchanging a few words, he brought up Feng Xingyun's accommodation for the night.
Before getting on the bus, he checked his watch and it was already 10:30. If he drove back to school, he would definitely be too late. Fortunately, his two roommates tipped him off that there would be no room checks today.
After thinking for a moment, Liu Duanhe said, "Would you like to stay at a hotel tonight, or come with me to my apartment near the school?"
It's so late, and Liu Duanhe is too lazy to bother anymore. He definitely won't go back to the old house to sleep. Staying in the apartment next to the school will allow him to sleep in a little longer tomorrow.
His hands rested casually on the steering wheel, making them appear even paler and longer, like works of art made of white jade, with only the joints and fingertips bearing a faint misty pink hue, without any obvious knuckles, as delicate as scallion roots.
