Chapter 58. Feng Xingyun's entire mind was tense...
Feng Xingyun's entire focus was on the doorway, so when Liu Duanhe appeared at the door looking tired, he spotted him and stared at him greedily.
Despite his hasty arrival, Liu Duanhe's attire remained refined and elegant, largely thanks to his stunningly handsome face, with the remainder attributed to his exceptional demeanor. Feng Xingyun could only tentatively attribute some credit to his clothing.
His eyes also caught sight of Liu Duanhe's watch, which looked very familiar, making Feng Xingyun's eyes light up as well.
It was a gift he had given to Liu Duanhe before. Feng Xing didn't know if Liu Duanhe had forgotten it or for some other reason.
But the existence of the watch was enough to make him happy, and it also confirmed to him that he definitely had a place in Liu Duanhe's heart.
Liu Duanhe sent a message to the project team and then walked out of the building.
Because he left in a hurry, his tall figure was only wearing a shirt and suit trousers. His full chest muscles and narrow waist made the simple shirt look full of lust, which was completely opposite to his expression.
Feng Xingyun withdrew his gaze, as if nothing had happened, took off his down jacket, and stepped forward to put it on Liu Duanhe's shoulder.
Liu Duanhe's toes twitched, but Feng Xingyun, as if he couldn't see it, continued without hesitation or pause.
The down jacket, still warm from his body heat, enveloped him, and Liu Duanhe exhaled a puff of white breath. His eyes, dark and bright, narrowed slightly as he pondered, warmed by the intense heat, making him look like a lazy, drowsy cat.
Feng Xingyun spoke first, his voice a little hoarse from being outside for so long, "Let's find somewhere to stay; your cold isn't completely gone yet."
Liu Duanhe's eyes flickered slightly, and he replied, "Okay." His gaze fell on the man's cheeks, which were red from the cold, so he figured the man had probably not just arrived and had been waiting for quite some time.
Liu Duanhe held his down jacket in place with one hand and grabbed Feng Xingyun's arm with the other, leading him into the coffee shop next door.
The warm air first enveloped the body, and the air was filled with the slightly bitter aroma of coffee.
Liu Duanhe pulled Feng Xingyun to sit in a corner. Because of the sound of entering the door, the guests near the door subconsciously looked over.
My gaze was immediately drawn to the slender and upright man walking in front of me. Although he was half-covered in a down jacket, he didn't look disheveled or lazy at all. He exuded nobility and was strikingly handsome. He was many levels more handsome than the male celebrities in the entertainment industry. It was like heaven and earth.
After the initial amazement, he met the gaze of the man who was pulling the man with a fierce aura. The man then grabbed Liu Duanhe's hand and glanced at him casually.
The guest then came to his senses, and Liu Duanhe showed no reaction to the stares that had been directed at him the whole way.
After they sat down, Feng Xingyun could still feel the gazes coming from all sides, front and back. They weren't obvious, but they were there, and he couldn't help but frown.
Liu Duanhe was still struggling with what to say when he saw him frowning and looking up to see if there were any stairs. He said, "This coffee shop doesn't seem to have any private rooms."
Feng Xingyun met his curved eyes, his brows relaxed, "It's alright, no need to go to the private room."
Just then, the waiter came over with a tablet to take orders. Liu Duanhe stopped to answer and ordered coffee and dessert with Feng Xingyun.
After the waiter left, Liu Duanhe said, "You were frowning; I thought you weren't very happy?"
Feng Xingyun touched his brow, puzzled, and asked, "Really?"
After saying that, he put his hand down and smiled, "Maybe it's because I just wanted to smile when I saw you, and I only frowned for a moment, so I didn't notice."
Liu Duanhe lowered his eyes and did not answer. His cheeks were slightly hot. He hadn't felt anything when he heard Feng Xingyun's words before, but he didn't know when it started, he just couldn't stand them anymore.
A vibrant color appeared on her fair cheeks, extremely noticeable, like the powder glaze on porcelain, making her exceptionally beautiful.
He didn't know how to answer, so he gave an ambiguous reply, "Maybe."
This answer was within Feng Xingyun's expectations. He knew it was unlikely that he would receive a genuine positive response from Liu Duanhe so quickly, so he was not disappointed.
Feng Xingyun could sense that Liu Duanhe was subconsciously avoiding intimacy, and Liu Duanhe was at a loss as to how much he was taking advantage of her.
But his retreat did not earn the hunter's pity. Feng Xingyun only wanted to go further and further until Liu Duanhe had nowhere left to retreat and could only choose to respond directly. But Feng Xingyun could only accept one answer.
Feng Xingyun's calloused hands, calloused from playing basketball, rubbed against Liu Duanhe's smooth, delicate face, causing a slight itch. He had somehow cupped Liu Duanhe's face in his hands, his burning palms warming him as if he were holding a handful of easily melting snow, but his eyes held a different story, filled with aggression as he stared intently into Liu Duanhe's eyes. "Why did you leave without saying goodbye this morning?"
"Are you unwilling or unable to tell me face-to-face that we're ending our relationship?"
"You do have feelings for me, don't you?"
His snow-white cheeks were made even more exquisite by Feng Xingyun's slightly darker wheat-colored skin. His eyelashes trembled and drooped. Liu Duanhe turned his face away uncomfortably, adding to his fragile, glass-like beauty, as beautiful as a dream.
Secretly observing the other tables of guests, he felt an urge to walk over and push Feng Xingyun aside, determined not to let the beauty back down like that.
Liu Duanhe avoided answering his persistent questioning. Her bright red and plump lips were slightly pursed. Feng Xingyun also felt an itch, as if it were coming from Liu Duanhe's breath, creeping into his heart, and into his bones through the base of her palm.
Feng Xingyun's ears turned red, and he awkwardly moved his hands, but he still didn't let go of Liu Duanhe. He just stared at him until both of them were blushing, which was completely contrary to the somber topic they were supposed to be discussing.
"Hello, your coffee."
The waiter's gentle voice rang out.
"Teng!"
Startled, Feng Xingyun jumped up, but luckily the sofa was heavy and didn't creak.
The waiter paused for a moment. "Are you going to the restroom?"
Feng Xingyun was too embarrassed to look at Liu Duanhe, so he hurriedly went to the restroom as directed by the waiter.
He really needed to calm himself down with cold water and a quiet space. He had clearly thought about what to say when he came, but when he saw Liu Duanhe, he couldn't remember a single word.
They barely got started, and before they even received a reply from Liu Duanhe, they were utterly defeated and routed. They were so pathetic.
Liu Duanhe breathed a sigh of relief after Feng Xingyun left. If it weren't for the interruption just now, he might have given an unexpected answer. Anything could happen in that kind of atmosphere.
But Liu Duanhe didn't like this kind of uncontrollable hormonal passion. He preferred stable, rational, thoughtful relationships without any pretense.
Liu Duanhe added sugar to his coffee, sipped it slowly, and the blush on his cheeks gradually faded as he pondered the negotiations that morning.
But inevitably, his thoughts would occasionally drift back to Feng Xingyun staring intently at him, asking, "Why did you leave without saying goodbye this morning?"
"Are you unwilling or unable to tell me face-to-face that we're ending our relationship?"
"You do have feelings for me, don't you?"
His excellent memory allowed him to clearly recall every pause and every expectation and hope in Feng Xingyun's tone at the time. Liu Duanhe sighed in annoyance.
The wind chimes in the coffee shop rang again. Liu Duanhe didn't pay attention at first, until the footsteps stopped behind him. He turned around and saw Guan Du, dressed in casual clothes, standing beside him.
After some time apart, he had become much more composed, his eyes fixed on him with a deep gaze.
"Xiao He, what a coincidence!"
Is it a coincidence?
Liu Duanhe smiled as naturally as if those distant gestures had never happened before, "Why did you come to Taicheng?"
Guan Du had sensed the danger of Feng Xingyun after having dinner with him a few months ago, but he hadn't expected Liu Duan to distance himself from him later.
Especially after their last meeting at the company, Liu Duanhe became visibly cold.
Guan Du's heart felt like it was tangled with countless weeds. He wanted to fiercely question Liu Duanhe about why he had changed, but he was too cowardly to seek an answer that would completely shatter their friendship.
He could only feign nonchalance and say, "My old man sent me to Taicheng on a business trip."
"Want to grab a drink together tonight?"
Guan Du looked at Liu Duanhe's surprised expression. He could have easily faked it, but he chose to show it, to tell him that their relationship wasn't as good as he thought.
He had never imagined that Liu Duanhe's ruthlessness would truly be used on him; simply ignoring him was enough to cause him excruciating pain, leaving him adrift in a sea of jealousy.
After a moment's consideration, Liu Duanhe's eyes softened with tenderness as he sincerely apologized, "I'm sorry, I have something to do tonight."
When he wants to reject someone, he is often generous with his kindness and warmth, so that even if the person is rejected, they will not feel resentment.
Guan Du sadly discovered that even after being rejected and hit repeatedly, he still couldn't bring himself to hate Liu Duanhe, to turn love into hate, or to have any thoughts of hating him.
He still likes him.
He still loves him.
Guan Du seemed to regain his previous liveliness, and he smiled and teased, "Which vixen is so worried about Xiao He that he can't go out to play?"
Liu Duanhe said calmly, "It's just work, not anything special."
Guan Du felt a sense of relief, yet also a lingering sense of unease.
He glanced at Liu Duan and the coffee opposite him out of the corner of his eye, and said, "It's been so long since we last met. Every time I tried to find you, either Secretary Wei said you were on a business trip or you were in a meeting. I've made so many trips for nothing. Now that we've finally run into each other, you have to make me feel better."
As he spoke, he was about to sit on the sofa opposite Liu Duanhe.
Liu Duanhe certainly couldn't let Guan Du sit in Feng Xingyun's place. Their relationship was already messed up, and if Guan Du got involved, not only would Liu Duanhe not want to get entangled with Guan Du anymore, but Feng Xingyun would definitely explode if he saw Guan Du sitting in his seat, and the scene would become incredibly ugly.
