Chapter 311: Promise, Annihilation, Exploration (asking for monthly ticket)
When Gu Qinye opened his eyes, the plane had already landed. The red words on the sign in the cabin read: Arrived at Osaka International Airport, please get off the plane as soon as possible and take your personal belongings with you.
He took out his cell phone from his seat and switched the time zone skillfully. Then he glanced at the number in the upper right corner of the screen.
The local time is 12 noon on August 10th.
He raised his head and looked around. The plane cabin was empty, with only him and Yuriel left.
Everyone had left, but Uriel didn't wake him up. Instead, she sat beside him and played with her tablet quietly.
Gu Qinye put her phone back into her pocket and turned her head to take a look. She was still playing the game called "Life is Strange". On the screen, a brown-haired girl and a blue-haired girl were holding hands and walking along the train tracks.
The midsummer sun shone through the window, shining on the girl's transparent skin. She lowered her ice-blue eyes and said without raising her head:
"You're awake."
"Why didn't you wake me up?" Gu Qinye asked as he stood up from the chair and rubbed both sides of his nose.
“Because you look tired,” Uriel said, putting away the tablet.
"Everyone else is gone?"
"That's all." Yuriel said calmly, "Next, we'll go to the Osaka Alien Branch Building. The Japanese officials have arranged accommodation for us in advance, and then we'll hold the meeting there." After she finished speaking, she stood up first.
Gu Qinye slowly stood up and followed her to the gangway leading to the cabin exit.
"Wait a moment. There is another person on the plane. We have the obligation to wake her up." The Icelandic girl suddenly turned around, opened the door to the connecting passage, and walked into the aisle between the two cabins.
Gu Qinye stopped, turned his head, and looked in the direction of her back, only to see a black coffin lying quietly in the middle aisle.
The coffin's surface was patterned with bright red roses and emerald green thorns. The roses and thorns intertwined, creating a contrast with the coffin itself, exuding a seductive yet old-fashioned beauty. It would be very eye-catching no matter where it was placed, let alone on an airplane.
"Esther hasn't woken up yet?" Gu Qinye asked curiously.
"Not awake."
Uriel walked slowly towards the coffin while playing with her tablet.
Then, she raised her foot expressionlessly and kicked the coffin without any effort.
There was a "dong" sound, Gu Qiye was slightly stunned, and then he laughed dryly.
He looked at Yuriel's back and asked unhappily, "Aren't you afraid that the two-hundred-year-old woman will suddenly jump out of the coffin and eat you?"
"You can't wake her up otherwise." After saying that, Uriel turned and walked out of the middle aisle, like a kitten that had done something bad and was walking away, with light and indifferent steps.
She suddenly pulled Gu Qiye's sleeve and pulled him towards the gangway, then quickly let go. "If you don't want to be eaten by her, let's go quickly."
Gu Qinye shrugged and obediently got off the plane with her.
As he got off the gangway, he suddenly heard the coffin on the plane roaring, and the coffin lid was moved away. It seemed that the black-haired, red-eyed girl in the Gothic dress had already come out of the coffin. From the noise, he could tell that she was in a bad mood.
Gu Qinye and Yuriel felt a chill coming from behind them, their hair stood on end, and they walked towards the exit of Osaka Airport without looking back.
"By the way, I heard them call you the 'three-no girl' before, so I looked up the definition online. Some people said that 'three-no is black when cut open', and it seems to be true." Gu Qiye said with emotion.
"I don't think I'm anything but a three-nothing. It's just a random codename Urushihara Ruri gave me," Yuriel said. "On the contrary, I have a lot of little thoughts."
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry I said you looked like a robot before."
"I don't accept your apology."
"I will try my best to take care of your little thoughts in the future and not treat you as a robot."
"Okay, I forgive you." Uriel said lightly.
The two chatted as they left the airport and arrived at the streets of Osaka. The special cars used for pick-up had already been taken by other people, so they had no choice but to take a yellow taxi to the official building of the Osaka Alien Association.
They took the glass-walled elevator and looked out through the glass to see the clear midsummer sky.
White birds flew across the sky, and telephone poles and neon signs were everywhere, as dense as a deck of cards spread out on a table. The LED screen of the building flashed an advertisement for a ring endorsed by Japanese artist "Makenyu Nitta".
The car was completely silent. The two stood side by side, but remained silent. The glass curtain wall was shining brightly in the summer sun, just like the sea at sunset.
Gu Qiye turned his head and stared at the street scene of Osaka in a daze, while Yuriel lowered her head to play with her tablet computer, occasionally looking up and glancing at his profile out of the corner of her eye.
"By the way." Uriel suddenly spoke.
"What's wrong?" Gu Qinye turned around.
"Do you remember the orphanage I mentioned before?" she asked.
"I still remember." Gu Qinye nodded.
The Icelandic girl had mentioned to him before that there were children in an orphanage in Lijing who were involved in a terrorist attack and he rescued them. Uriel was using the salary he earned from Rainbow Wing to support the orphanage and would visit there occasionally, so he learned about it from the children.
"After this mission is over, can you accompany me to Lijing?"
"Why?"
"I want to take you to meet the children in the orphanage. They really want to meet you." Uriel said, "At the beginning, most of what I know about you was heard from them. At that time, in order to make them happy, I promised them that if I could get to know you in the future, I would take you to see them."
She thought about it and said, “But I didn’t expect that I would really get to know you later.”
Gu Qinye was stunned for a moment, then smiled and said calmly: "Anyway, I have to go home after the mission is completed, so..." At this point, his voice stopped abruptly.
He suddenly remembered that after this Light-Eating Bee mission was over, he and Uriel would basically part ways. By then, he would be known as the sinner who killed the Father of Puppetry. He would be standing on the opposite side of Rainbow Wing and become a wanted criminal.
"What's wrong?" When Yuriel saw that he suddenly stopped talking, she turned her head and stared at him motionlessly.
"Nothing..." Gu Qiye shook his head, "Let me think about it again."
Uriel thought for a moment and whispered:
"Of course, you can reject me. There's no need to feel any psychological burden. This isn't some kind of 'moral kidnapping' or anything like that. It's just an invitation from a friend."
"Being with the children in the orphanage is one of the few times when I feel I belong... I am a street kid with very little, no family, and few friends. As a friend, I am a boring person. So, I thought about what I could share with you, and the answer I finally came up with was their smiling faces..."
She paused and said, "So, I hope to share them with you, and I hope to share you with them, that's all."
Unusually, the Icelandic girl spoke haltingly, lacking her usual robotic clarity and conciseness. Instead, her speech seemed long-winded and incoherent.
It was as if something had gone wrong with the language-weaving program, but she tried her best to prevent the words she spoke from becoming a mess of gibberish.
"Are robots also afraid of being rejected?" Gu Qiye thought to himself as he looked at her expression.
He was silent for a while, then tried to find a reason to talk about her. "Sharing me with them, how can you say it as if I belong to you?"
Hearing this, Uriel was stunned for a moment, then shook her head, her snow-white hair swaying slightly.
"It was just a lack of precision in the language, not my intention."
"Okay, I promise you." Gu Qiye raised his lips, "After the mission is over, if there is still a chance, I will accompany you to the welfare home to meet those children... Actually, my hesitation just now did not mean to reject you, but I suddenly remembered that I had other arrangements and was wondering if there would be a conflict."
Uriel was silent.
After a long while, a faint smile appeared on her face, "Thank you."
"No thanks, we are friends." Gu Qiye said, "Rather, I should thank you for introducing your...children to me."
"They are very well behaved. After Blue Arc died, one of them cried all night and screamed so hard that she couldn't get up the next day and was punished by the nurse to stand." As she said that, she looked up at Gu Qiye, "An unfaithful man."
"Okay, okay, how come I'm such a heartless person?"
As they chatted and laughed, the elevator had already reached the 20th floor of the Osaka Abnormal Association building. With a buzz, the elevator door opened to the outside.
The two of them walked into the red-carpeted corridor, went straight ahead, and arrived at the conference room at the end.
Pushing open the black door and walking into the room, I saw Commander Chen Qian sitting on a swivel chair. The other nine members of Hongyi had already arrived. They sat down around the long table, and only Esther was still coming slowly.
Gu Qinye and Yuriel quietly found a seat next to each other and sat down.
Chen Qian said, "With the help of the Exorcist Association, the authorities have equipment to detect the location of the light-eating bees, so we will send a group of people to eliminate the light-eating bees hiding in the city today and wipe out their nests in the city; and another group of people will go to the nameless island to explore the situation on the island to facilitate the formulation of a strategic plan later."
She paused and said, "I know you won't listen to my instructions, so you can assign personnel among yourselves and ensure that these two tasks are completed within today."
"Can't we just go to the island and kill them all?" Fan Dongqing asked.
"no."
"Arrogance... is the greatest weakness of mankind." A hoarse voice came from under the bandage on the face of the Puppet Father.
Fan Dongqing turned his head and looked at him, "Bandage Man, don't tell me what to do."
"The arrogant...will bring about their own destruction," the Puppet Father continued.
"Transfer to manual labor." Fan Dongqing sighed.
Gu Qiye raised his head and stared at the puppet father quietly, with a dark lightning flashing in his pupils.
He took a deep breath, lowered his head and was silent for a moment, then turned to look at Yuriel, "What do you mean?"
"What?" Uriel looked up at him from her tablet.
"Should we stay in Japan and clear out the miscellaneous soldiers, or go and investigate the situation on the island?" he asked.
“Both are possible,” said Uriel. “They can all be resolved today.”
