Chapter 326 Shadow, Wish, Farewell (asking for monthly ticket)
In a corner of the Spiritual Library, Ji Minghuan raised his head and looked at the fourth shadow that suddenly appeared with curiosity and surprise.
"Oh...what is this thing? Is it the prototype of Unit 4?" he murmured.
As he said, at some point another body appeared hanging from the ceiling.
The library was empty.
Hanging from the ceiling were the bodies of two men and a shark, their heads drooping, motionless in the setting sun. The afterglow filtered through the paper windows, tinting them with an indelible blood-red.
Next to them, there was a black shadow that looked out of place.
Looking closely, the fourth corpse was covered in a light shadow, making its true appearance unclear. It sometimes resembled some strange and ferocious animal, and sometimes a slightly immature human figure, changing unpredictably.
"Ming Huan, you are ignoring me, right?" asked the Red Dragon in a deep voice.
Ji Minghuan stood in the corner of the library, scratched his hospital gown, and stared at Honglong's face speechlessly.
It narrowed its eyes slightly, its pupils glowing a fiery red in the shadows.
The man and the dragon looked at each other silently.
Ji Minghuan just looked at it quietly for a while, and then sighed heavily.
"Okay, I really didn't forget about you. The battle will start in two days, and I've been very busy lately..." After saying that, he sat down in front of the red dragon, tilted his head and crossed his legs.
"So what are you going to do next?" asked the red dragon.
"What and how?"
"If the 'Queen Bee' was truly born on that island, according to the Salvation Society, its strength is comparable to that of a 'Mythical Level'."
"Don't worry, don't worry." Ji Minghuan shrugged. "Even if a queen bee is really born, I will kick it into the stinking ditch."
"So confident." The red dragon snorted coldly.
"There's nothing I can do. If I don't know what to do, I won't be able to do anything right." Ji Minghuan said, "We're very close to catching the Salvation Society. If nothing goes wrong, I'll know where the Salvation Society's base is by the end of this operation."
"I think you're a bit arrogant, Ming Huan," the Red Dragon said. "You think you're a restricted-level psychic, and that whatever you do will lead to the results you want. So you treat reality like a game and the people around you like puppets, right?"
Ji Minghuan raised his eyebrows, raised his head curiously, and looked into its eyes silently.
"How could I be like what you said?" he asked.
"Are you planning to kill those kids in the Savior Society?" The red dragon raised his claws and scratched the reading glasses on the bridge of his nose.
Ji Minghuan was stunned for a moment, then lowered his head, clutching his ankles in a daze. "If possible, I hope they don't die. But that's unlikely, right?"
"What about the Ripper?"
"What's there to think about? Killing her is no problem." Ji Minghuan raised his head and said, "If I don't kill her, I'll lose a Calamity-level machine. Killing her will not only save Xia Pingzhou, but also force the brigade to follow my footsteps and be brought to the base of the Salvation Society to become my helpers."
"What about the little girl in the kimono?"
Hearing this, Ji Minghuan suddenly fell silent. He leaned back slightly, placed his palms on the floor, and sighed towards the ceiling.
"Could you please stop asking so many questions?" he said. "Do you know why I didn't come into the library to chat with you?"
"I just hope you can be clear about what you want in your heart."
"How can you have the best of both worlds?" Ji Minghuan turned his head and looked at the sunset outside the library. "Don't cartoons always say that if you want something, you have to make sacrifices?"
"What if the white-haired girl was sacrificed?"
"Then I will destroy the Earth and everyone will stop playing."
"Your principles and bottom line have been very clear from the very beginning."
The red dragon looked at him, then lowered his head and continued reading.
"If I really treat the Earth as a game as you said, then she must be a player like me." Ji Minghuan lowered his eyes and said softly, "She is my only family. If I don't care about her, who else can I care about?"
"But the number of people you care about has increased." The Red Dragon said, "It's just that you don't want to think that way."
"No way." Ji Minghuan curled his lips, "I'm just taking advantage of their feelings. We evil elementary school students are all like this."
"Really?" the red dragon said, "I only see a child trying to be brave, afraid to face his own heart."
"Let's stop chatting. We are two different worlds. Don't educate me the way you educate Li Qingping."
Ji Minghuan rolled his eyes at it and lay down on the floor of the library in a spread-eagle position.
He was stunned for a moment, then suddenly asked, "When Li Qingping wanted to put the matter of Whale Court behind him and live a carefree life in the human world, was it you who told him, 'Do you really not care about the Third Prince? Can you really watch the Third Prince die in Whale Court?', and then he foolishly returned to the Box Garden?"
"I did say that." The Red Dragon did not deny it.
"I guessed it."
"But even if I hadn't said that, Li Qingping would have returned sooner or later," Red Dragon said. "I'm just observing the behavior of you kids to help you realize your true nature."
"It's just a dragon, yet you're talking nonsense." Ji Minghuan sighed.
After a moment of silence, he slowly closed his eyes, "But you're right, he is just that kind of person."
At the same time, on the island of the light-eating bees, there was a hive.
Joe sat at the entrance to the hive, finished reading the last of the book, closed it, and piled it aside with its tail.
"How boring! Why haven't those humans arrived yet?" Cameron yawned and asked, "How about I go to Osaka tomorrow to have some fun? It's a good opportunity to test out my abilities."
"Cameron, don't act rashly." Melvit scratched his head. "Her Majesty the Queen Bee hasn't woken up yet. We have to guard this place."
"Let her go. The three of us are enough to defend this place." Guli said disdainfully.
"I'll be back soon."
As Joe spoke, he lifted up the pile of books on the ground with his tail.
"Again?" Cameron asked curiously, cupping his cheek. "What's so interesting about books about lower creatures?"
"Don't go too far," Guli also said.
"It's none of your business." Joe looked up and saw the moonlight.
"Joe, don't go tomorrow. Play cards with me." Melvert said without looking up from his seat next to him. "I just learned how to play cards, and you're already addicted to other things."
"I'll be with you tomorrow."
Qiao said expressionlessly, spreading his hexagonal wings, flapping them and shooting upwards, instantly passing through the clouds and bathing in the moonlight.
On this day, the Osaka bookstore remained open until late at night as usual.
As usual, Su Wei sat alone behind the counter, drinking coffee and looking down at an old, yellowed book.
It was left to him by his grandfather, and it recorded the stories of the Su family through the generations. He hadn't opened the book in a long time. He had originally planned to give it to Su Ying, but who knew that his daughter had no desire to set foot in the world of exorcism.
A moment later, a sudden loud noise was heard on the street outside the bookstore.
"The noise is still so loud." Su Wei smiled.
After a while, a slender tail stepped over the threshold and entered the bookstore.
Then a dark figure walked in.
Qiao slowly raised his head, his golden eyes still cold. He held several books in each arm, and three more were hooked on his slender tail. These were all lent to him by Su Wei yesterday.
"Old man, here I come again."
As he spoke, he turned to look at Su Wei who was sitting behind the counter.
"Calling me old is really rude." Su Wei said without even looking up, "Don't I look young enough?"
"Don't be so naive. I can see your age," said Joe coldly.
Su Wei rubbed his temples with a headache and smiled, "Tell me, what book do you want this time?"
Qiao asked, "Shouldn't you introduce me?"
As he spoke, he used his tail to put the three books he was holding back on the bookshelf, then slowly lowered the books he was holding in his arms, caught them with his tail, and put them back to the empty spaces on the bookshelf one by one.
"Please sit down first." Su Wei said, "I am old and my memory is not very good. I will help you find the right book slowly."
"OK."
Joe pulled a chair with his tail and sat down, then picked up a children's picture book and opened it quietly.
It frowned as it watched, "Human children watch this kind of thing?"
"Humans are different from you. We are born weak and without wisdom," Su Wei said. "We all grow up through stumbling and falling, learning from our mistakes, and only then have we achieved our current position on Earth."
Joe was silent and read two more pages. The picture book contained the story of Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf.
“Is it fun to run a bookstore?”
"It's quite relaxing, with endless books to read." Su Wei said, "Occasionally, customers come to the store, and someone will sit with you in the bookstore and chat with you." Speaking of this, Su Wei smiled and said, "Of course, it's also a headache sometimes. Some people don't return the books after borrowing them, and a few days later they say that the books were destroyed by playing cards.
There was a long silence, and then Joe spoke in the midst of silence.
"I suddenly feel like opening a bookstore wouldn't be a bad idea." He put down his book and crossed his arms. "Hey, human, do you think I'm suitable?"
As he spoke, he turned his head to look at Su Wei, his golden pupils expressionless.
"Not suitable." Su Wei said immediately.
"Why?" Joe frowned.
"Because you are a bee queen."
"What's wrong with Feng Hou?" Qiao's tone became a little colder.
Su Wei asked, "Won't an alien like you be despised by your own kind?"
He took a sip of coffee and said sarcastically, "Among the light-eating bees that want to conquer the world, there's actually a queen bee who wants to open a bookstore in the human world."
"So what?" Joe asked. "I don't care what my people think."
"Can you abandon your own tribe?" Su Wei raised her head and looked him straight in the eye. "Even if it means watching them being slaughtered by humans, you won't mind?"
Joe lowered his head, was silent for a moment, then looked up to meet his gaze.
"Don't push your luck."
“That’s your answer.”
"Boring." Joe said coldly, "I'm leaving and will come back tomorrow." After that, he closed the fairy tale picture book, hooked a whole row of picture books on the tail, and walked out of the bookstore.
"You may not be able to come tomorrow." Su Wei said.
"What do you mean?" Joe stopped.
"If you really want to open a bookstore and can guarantee that you won't eat people, then don't go back tonight," Su Wei said. "You can wait for me in Lijing, China. I'll be back there soon and can teach you how to do it step by step."
Qiao turned his head and looked Su Wei coldly in the eyes. After a while, he spoke to break the silence.
"boring."
After saying this, he walked out of the bookstore, spread his hexagonal wings and soared into the sky.
Su Wei picked up the coffee cup and took a sip. "Why don't you believe it when I tell you?"
