Chapter 71 Silence

Chapter 71 Silence

In Shiba Park, tall ginkgo trees line both sides of the remote trail, with branches and leaves forming dense green shade.

The bright lights of Tokyo Tower not far away shone through the gaps between the apricot leaves, casting mottled light and shadows on the stone road. As the evening breeze blew, thousands of leaves rustled.

However... in such a pleasant environment, a huge black insect pupa suddenly appeared, hanging upside down under the branches of the ginkgo tree.

The moonlight penetrated the gaps between the leaves and poured down, flowing on the surface of the pupa like mercury, reflecting a cold and eerie luster.

How out of place it is, just like the insect eggs in the movie "Alien" broke into the set of some fresh and artistic film, pulling everyone immersed in the dream back to reality with an extremely aggressive sense of tearing.

Anyone who sees this scene will surely feel a tremor in their heart.

"What's wrong?"

Seeing the leader suddenly stop, Su Zimai also stopped. She looked up from her phone screen and froze in place.

“This is…” She murmured as a black foreign object was reflected in her shrunken pupils.

Ke Qirui raised his head, stared at the giant pupa hanging upside down under the tree branch, and slowly read out the other party's name:

"Black pupa."

"Oh... I seem to hear someone calling my name." A faint voice came from inside the giant cocoon, and then the restraint belt that was expanding and spreading outwards suddenly contracted inwards, sticking tightly to the side of a human figure, and slowly rotating around him like a stream of water.

Black Pupa hung upside down under the tree, motionless. After a moment, he raised his right hand, which was wrapped in a restraint belt, and in his hand was a copy of "I Am a Cat" in the original Japanese version.

Apricot leaves fluttered and fell, brushing against the sunglasses on his face.

"It seems different from what's on TV..." Su Zimai looked at him and narrowed his eyes slightly.

"It's indeed different. His mask and windbreaker seem to be gone." Ke Qirui put his hand on his chin and looked at him with interest from under the shadow of his hat brim:

If the black pupa they saw on TV could be called a strange man in strange clothes and could barely be counted as a human being, then the one hanging upside down in front of them was a completely black mummy - his whole body was wrapped in black restraints, and even his eyes were not exposed, but he wore a pair of sunglasses, as if to remind others where his eyes were.

"Miss, this is called when in Rome, do as the Romans do." Hei Pupa adjusted his sunglasses on the bridge of his nose and said as he flipped open a book, "I am cosplaying as a Japanese ninja, so I have temporarily thrown away my windbreaker and mask. Now please call me - 'Ninja version of Hei Pupa'."

"It's so cold." Su Zimai was chilled by this joke.

"After saying so much...it turns out that they use the same voice changer." Ke Qirui joked.

Ji Minghuan curled his lips under the mask and thought:

"Because I took the voice changer off the mask and put it in my backpack on the plane. Only this thing can be brought on the plane. Other things will be exposed during the security check."

It was impossible for him to disguise himself and come out to meet his sister and still speak with his original voice. Given Su Zimai's familiarity with his voice, he would definitely be able to tell if he was just mixing his voice.

Ke Qirui continued, "You are really leisurely and elegant. Every time you appear on camera, you always carry a book with you."

"If I remember correctly... I should have said that I wanted my image to appear in elementary school textbooks."

Hei Jiao said nonchalantly while reading a book, "Reading so many books is obviously good for my public image. People who imitate me in the future will find a book to read, even if it's just for show. When those literary workers write me into textbooks, if they really have nothing else to praise, they can at least praise me for encouraging young people to develop the good habit of reading."

"I see." Ke Qirui smiled slightly and took out a pipe from his windbreaker pocket.

She raised her head and asked in a leisurely tone, "So... Mr. Black Pupa, who has become very famous recently, what can he do with us two?"

Black Pupa raised a finger wrapped in restraints and said slowly: "My friend said...some of you seem to want to cooperate with me?"

Hearing this, Ke Qirui put his pipe in his mouth, recalled the conversation in the theater last night, and immediately read out a name:

"Xia Ping Zhou?"

"That's right..." Hei Pupa said jokingly, "But we usually call him 'chess player'. Calling him by his name is not a very romantic act, don't you think, Miss Ke Qirui?"

"Who are the 'we' you are talking about?" Ke Qirui seized on this word and asked.

While using the restraints to adjust his sunglasses that kept falling down, Hei Pupa said dimly, "Who knows? 'We' could be millions of people, or just a lonely little boy. Of course... the most likely possibility is that we never existed, and are just the fantasy of a mentally ill person, a hallucination he created under extreme depression and madness."

"You're talking too much," Su Zimai frowned and asked coldly, "What on earth do you want to do?"

Listening to Hei Pupa's mysterious tone, she couldn't help but feel a little annoyed.

For some reason, she seemed to hate people who talk too much, especially Blue Arc and Black Pupa - one of them was a decent person, and the other was an unknown person, and they hit her sore spot exactly.

"Ask her." Hei Pupa tilted his head, "Of course... I don't mind cooperating with you, Miss Su Zimai."

After saying that, he raised his sunglasses, avoided the lenses and looked at Su Zimai under the tree - although he did not show his eyes, only the senses of the restraints served as a substitute.

"Why do you know my name?" Su Zimai's voice suddenly became low, his tone almost identical to that of Blue Arc when his real name was revealed.

Black Pupa shrugged: "Because I know what everyone looks like behind their mask."

He shook his head and closed the book. "I picked up the wrong book. I should have found a book in both Chinese and Japanese. It seems I overestimated my Japanese level."

Ke Qirui was silent for a moment, then suddenly turned to Su Zimai and said, "Maimai, I've changed my mind now."

"What's your idea?" Su Zimai met the captain's gaze.

"Your brother is not Blue Arc, but... Black Pupa."

Su Zimai was stunned at first, then he narrowed his eyes and stretched out his voice: "Huh? You said this big fluttering moth is..."

Before she could ask, Ke Qirui raised his head and asked Hei Pupa, "You are... Gu Wenyu, right?"

Ji Minghuan raised his eyebrows under the mask, thinking to himself: This woman's intuition is so accurate it's a bit scary. I shouldn't have used the restraints to test her last time. She must have noticed something that day. Fortunately... I still have a backup plan.

Black Pupa was silent for two seconds, then he whistled and turned his head away: "I'm sorry, I don't know who you are talking about... but I think the little girl next to you should know who he is."

"Really?" Ke Qirui laughed. "Then why do I feel that you all give me similar feelings? My intuition has always been very accurate and I rarely make mistakes."

She paused, and said in a serious tone: "It is not a smart thing to cover your ears and steal the bell. Gu Wenyu, take off your mask, how about we talk about cooperation again?"

Su Zimai was stunned when she heard this. She opened her mouth but couldn't make any sound. It seemed that her brain had short-circuited. After a moment, she came to her senses, raised her right hand, pointed her index finger at the black pupa hanging upside down under the tree, turned her head and asked Ke Qirui:

"he?"

Ke Qirui nodded.

"My brother?"

Ke Qirui nodded again.

Silence is Cambridge tonight.
