Chapter 78 Choice
Under the cold light, three children sat against the wall, remaining silent with each other.
Ji Minghuan glanced at Firion and had many curious questions in his mind.
If his second machine leads White Wolf to rescue Firion in the future, will Firion stand on the side of his mentor or his father?
If I stand on the mentor's side, wouldn't I have to kill this big dog?
How many children have been mentally controlled by their mentor and become his puppets?
Will I have to fight these kids and kill them one by one in the future?
Ji Minghuan leaned his head against the wall, staring at the ceiling absentmindedly.
After a moment, he said to Firion: "Look at the bright side. You just think your father hates you. In fact, you haven't seen him, so you don't know what he thinks... So don't be so pessimistic. He may have forgiven you a long time ago."
In order to avoid suspicion, he added: "The instructor will help you find him."
He thought to himself: No way... They want to lock you up for life. Even if they find your father, the most they can do is lock him up with you for research. With a parent-child control group, the experiment will be much more efficient.
"I don't want my father to find me..." Firion lowered his voice, "I'm afraid to see him."
Ji Minghuan glanced at his expression, put his hands on his bent knees, and tactfully changed the subject:
"Okay, let's talk about me. I didn't even eat my own mother, but I was still abandoned by my parents. I was only four years old at the time, and they locked me in the closet and left... In fact, we were all pretty miserable, being locked up in such a hellhole, with no parents to look for us, and they didn't care whether we lived or died."
Kong Youling didn't interrupt the conversation. She just held the sketchbook and looked at the ground quietly. She thought of her mother again.
Ji Minghuan clearly didn't look at her when he spoke, but suddenly raised his hand and touched the top of her head.
"Even if we don't have parents, at least we have mentors who care about us." Firio suddenly said.
It seems that he has done a good job in your "ideological education". But then again, after all, a puppy that has been raised from childhood to adulthood, how can he not be affectionate, Ji Minghuan thought.
"The tutor has a hard time taking care of so many children. If possible, you'd better be more obedient... especially you."
Firion whispered, glancing at Ji Minghuan: "The instructor said he was worried about you. He often talked to me about you and said he liked you very much... but you are dangerous, just like me, so he can only protect you here."
This demon child seemed to talk more only when he mentioned his mentor, and his empty eyes became slightly brighter.
Ji Minghuan raised his head and sighed disapprovingly.
He said, "If he likes me so much, why doesn't he even want to give me a TV? To like someone, you should look at what they do, not what they say. Do you understand?"
He looked at Firion, trying to find his mental balance: "He won't let you watch TV too, will he?"
Firion shook his head: "I don't watch TV. But I can play computer games, but my instructor won't let me play those bloody games. I can play connect-the-dots games."
Ji Minghuan shrugged his shoulders and silently raised his middle finger to the monitor on the ceiling. Only then did he realize that the others were all treated like masters, eating well, drinking well and playing games.
He sneered in his heart, "Are they worried that I might awaken my superpowers while watching TV? What's the point... But I awakened my superpowers while I was sleeping, and it seems like you can stop me."
"My name is Firio." The demon child suddenly introduced himself.
"Kong Youling." The white-haired girl wrote on the notebook.
"Ji Minghuan." The boy sitting between the two of them drew circles on the ground with his hands and said reluctantly.
Firion was silent for a while, then suddenly said, "This is the first time I've talked so much to a child of my age. Thank you."
"You're welcome. I'm also bored here. Come visit me when you have time."
Ji Minghuan spoke like a boss, and this was some kind of chat shop for good friends that he opened.
"Are you really not afraid that I will eat you?" Firion asked in a low voice.
"You still have a collar around your neck."
"That's true."
"I think... if we don't wear suppression collars, you should be more afraid of me." Ji Minghuan teased, "After all, they all say that I will destroy the world, and then I will not only eat people... I will even eat the earth alive."
Firion turned his head and looked into his eyes, whispering, "Although we've only known each other for a few minutes, I feel that... you are a good person. The mentor also said that you are a good child. He thinks that you can't control your own power, so you will do those things in the future."
Why do I feel like I have good control over my supernatural power? Or rather, it feels like it has good control over me...
Ji Minghuan thought disapprovingly, while scanning the perspectives of the two gaming machines in his mind:
At this moment, Gu Wenyu and Xia Pingzhou were sleeping soundly in a hotel in Tokyo City. Their slightly rising and falling breathing sounds could be heard in the darkness.
"Can't she speak?" Firio looked at the name Kong Youling wrote in the notebook.
"She has been like this since she was a child." Ji Minghuan nodded.
"Oh, so she can hear us?"
"Can't hear, but she's a great lip reader."
Firio was stunned, and turned to look at Kong Youling through Ji Minghuan.
"Hello." Kong Youling wrote on the paper and then held up the notebook.
"How pitiful..." Firio murmured unconsciously.
"Don't give me that crap. She doesn't like people to feel sorry for her." Ji Minghuan said calmly, "She is very capable. Although she has those flaws, she doesn't complain about herself. She is very serious about everything she does, including eating and studying. Her grades are very good, better than many people in her class... She just doesn't have the opportunity to go to school."
He paused and said, "Because the adults in the orphanage wouldn't let her go to school, so I didn't go either. Who cares?"
Kong Youling was stunned. This was the first time she heard Ji Minghuan say the reason for not going to school. In the past, Ji Minghuan always said: I don't go to school because the library is enough. Only fools go to school. She was foolishly fooled.
She lowered her head, her snow-white hair covering her eyes, and her eyes became red without her noticing.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Firio thought he had made Kong Youling cry. For a moment, his eyes were full of panic and he buried his head in his knees again.
Kong Youling shook her head, her light white hair swaying gently.
"Hey, we are friends now." Ji Minghuan took the opportunity to say to Firion, "Can I touch your tail?"
Firion nodded.
"What about the ears?" Kong Youling wrote, holding up the notebook against the lower half of his face, staring at him with malicious red eyes.
Firion was stunned for a moment, then nodded again.
So the two children rushed over, as if they were his own puppy, one of them touched his wolf ears, and the other one scratched his wolf tail.
“It’s so itchy… so itchy…”
Firion's face was tense at first, but after a moment he couldn't help laughing. He hadn't laughed for a long time.
At this moment, the lights in the prison cell suddenly went out, and the whole room became dark.
Then the door at the exit slowly opened, revealing a corridor. Standing in the corridor were two men in white clothes, wearing disinfection masks and holding a ruler in their hands.
"Let's stop here for today. Xiaofei, Kong Youling, it's time for you to go back to bed." The instructor's gentle voice came from the broadcasting equipment and echoed in the room.
In the darkness, Ji Minghuan and Kong Youling reluctantly let go of Firion's wolf tail.
"Goodbye." Kong Youling said silently with his lips.
"Goodbye... I'll come see you again." Firion stood up from the ground and said softly, with a trace of smile still on his lips.
"Bye, little werewolf."
Ji Minghuan spoke without raising his head. He was silent for a second in the darkness, then he gently stretched out his hand towards Kong Youling who was sitting next to him, as if he wanted to hug her, but also as if he was simply reluctant to let her go.
The faint light coming from the corridor illuminated the outstretched arm, but the hand quickly retracted into the darkness.
Finally, he just touched Kong Youling lightly with his shoulder and whispered:
"Hey...you should leave soon too. It won't be long before we meet again."
Kong Youling nodded.
She lowered her eyes and hesitated for a while, then hugged the sketchbook, closed her eyes, and gently leaned her head on his shoulder. Two seconds, the warmth from his shoulder was only two seconds, but Ji Minghuan always felt that these two seconds were very long.
When she came to her senses, she stood up and walked quickly towards the exit.
Ji Minghuan sat quietly by the wall, watching the experimenters leave with their backs out of the corner of his eye. With a loud bang, the door closed again.
The bedroom was quiet. He was the only one left, with his head tilted to the side, staring at the metal door in boredom.
The tutor said that he would talk about his parents next time he came, but after Ji Minghuan met with Kong Youling and Firio, he never received the broadcast notification of the tutor's visit.
After a long time, there was still no sign of the door opening.
He was too lazy to wait any longer. Who knew what that old fox was planning?
"Forget it, go to bed early... I should hand the recorder to Dad tomorrow. Gu Zhuoan didn't bring his battle uniform when he came to Japan, but if we notify him in advance, he will definitely be ready to fight before the auction. I hope he can protect my brother then."
Thinking of this, Ji Minghuan lay down on the large white bed and slowly closed his eyes.
