“Yes, last time you asked me to find you some antiques, and I’ve come across another hairpin. See what price you can offer me.” Song Mian said, handing the mother-of-pearl antique box to Su Kun.
After opening it, Su Kun revealed a deeply amazed expression, clicking his tongue in admiration: "Great stuff, this is truly a great thing! Mr. Song, I can't give you a price for this. I'll invite that big boss who needs antiques over, and we can discuss it privately."
Song Mian readily agreed, waiting for Su Kun to contact an even bigger buyer.
Two hours later, Song Mian sold the antique hairpin for 350,000 yuan.
As Song Mian walked out of the pawnshop, she couldn't hide the ecstasy in her eyes.
"With so much money, I can get the doctor to perform surgery on Grandma!" Eager to visit her grandmother in the hospital, Song Mian glanced at the time and realized it was getting late.
Thinking that visiting Grandma tomorrow wouldn't be a problem, and seeing that it was getting late, I went back to the funeral clothing shop.
"Jiaojiao said she's going to bring some ghost customers over today, I wonder how many she'll be able to bring." After finishing tidying up, Song Mian looked out the window at the setting sun and waited quietly.
Meanwhile, in the Ghost Realm.
"Hao Zai Lai Funeral Clothes Shop has all kinds of non-sticky food. Welcome to our shop!" Standing in the bustling downtown area of the ghost realm, Lin Jiaojiao was diligently handing out flyers.
Unfortunately, the ghosts on the street weren't very interested.
In particular, some ghosts looked at Lin Jiaojiao with even more disdain after they discovered that she was a low-level ghost.
"These days, you can find all sorts of birds in a big forest. Even lowly ghosts are showing their faces. What do you mean by 'not burning food'? It's obviously a lie!"
The sarcastic remarks entered Lin Jiaojiao's ears without any politeness, leaving her feeling helpless.
After sighing, Lin Jiaojiao bent down to pick up the flyers that the other ghosts had dropped on the ground. Suddenly, she saw a small figure not far away.
A little boy dressed in coarse cloth was standing not far from Lin Jiaojiao, staring intently at the various food pictures on the flyer.
Then, the little boy ghost actually picked up the flyer and took a bite out of it.
"You can't eat this!" Lin Jiaojiao quickly stepped forward and stopped the little boy ghost.
"Where did this little beggar ghost come from? He's so dirty and smelly, it's disgusting!" Just then, a female ghost wearing a gray long dress happened to pass by and accidentally knocked the little boy ghost to the ground.
"You clearly bumped into the child first, how dare you, a ghost, accuse me first?" Lin Jiaojiao said, quickly helping the little boy ghost up.
She only realized how terribly thin the little boy ghost was when she touched him; he was practically skin and bones.
Furthermore, the moment she came into contact with the little boy ghost, she discovered something that surprised her.
"Little friend, you're actually a mid-level ghost?"
As soon as Lin Jiaojiao said this, the female ghost in the gray dress realized that she had offended a ghost: "I, I didn't know beforehand that this little beggar... no, this child ghost was a mid-level ghost! I didn't touch him on purpose!"
The hierarchy among ghosts is such that, generally speaking, a low-level ghost can live a decent life in the ghost realm.
Intermediate-level ghosts are often those whose descendants are powerful figures and thus receive great offerings, or those whose identities were extraordinary in life. Their status in the ghost world is far higher than that of primary-level ghosts.
It's safe to say that if the little boy ghost wanted to cause trouble, the gray-skirted female ghost would be immediately arrested by the Bureau of Management because of what she had just done.
However, the little boy seemed oblivious to the surrounding chatter; his attention was entirely on the flyer, and he even tried to tear off a picture from it and stuff it into his mouth.
"I told you you can't eat this." Lin Jiaojiao quickly took out a lollipop and stuffed it into the little boy ghost's mouth.
The little boy put the lollipop in his mouth, and his big, clear eyes immediately lit up: "Sweet, delicious."
“I know some other delicious things, do you want to come eat with me?” Lin Jiaojiao reached out her hand to the little boy ghost.
The little boy ghost stretched out his thin, bony hand and gently placed it on Lin Jiaojiao's hand.
At eight o'clock in the evening, Song Mian had just finished preparing dinner when she saw Lin Jiaojiao walk out of the glass door leading to the backyard.
"Welcome!" Song Mian watched as Lin Jiaojiao walked over, holding the hand of a little boy.
The little boy ghost's clothes looked very tattered. His dark blue jacket had turned gray, and there was a hole in the chest, through which the cotton seemed to have been plucked out.
Seeing the little boy was thin and skinny, with messy hair, silently following behind Lin Jiaojiao, Song Mian looked at Lin Jiaojiao.
Lin Jiaojiao whispered to Song Mian, "Boss, this is a mid-level ghost I encountered by chance today."
After listening to Lin Jiaojiao recount her encounter with the little boy ghost, Yi Qianhuan's eyes showed disbelief: "I remember you told me that intermediate-level ghosts live a good life in the ghost realm, so why does this little boy ghost look so destitute?"
"I don't know either. This little ghost is like me back then, he can't remember things that happened in the past very clearly. However, the descendants of intermediate ghosts are bound to be very outstanding. Boss, as long as you take good care of him, he will definitely give you a lot of rewards once he remembers the identity of his descendants."
As Lin Jiaojiao said this, she glanced at the little boy ghost.
The little boy ghost looked somewhat bewildered.
However, when he looked at Lin Jiaojiao, he remembered the lollipop she had given him and couldn't help but smile.
Seeing the little boy's still-growing teeth when he grinned, Song Mian squatted down and stroked his messy ghost hair: "Little guy, your appearance really doesn't fit the image of a mid-level ghost. How about I give you a complete makeover? That way, I guarantee no one will dare call you a little beggar when you go to the ghost realm."
"That's great, little stone, the little boss is willing to help you." Lin Jiaojiao was genuinely happy for the little boy ghost.
After thinking for a moment, Little Stone thanked Song Mian in his childish voice: "Thank you, big sister."
Looking at the little stone, Song Mian found it hard to describe her feelings at that moment.
Well, she felt like her heart had been melted by how adorable it was!
Seeing that Xiao Shitou had finished eating his lollipop but was still chewing on the stick, Song Mian quickly pulled him to wash his hands, and then pulled him and Lin Jiaojiao to sit down together.
A simple set of home-style dishes was laid out on the table: scrambled eggs with tomatoes, stir-fried pork with green peppers, hot and sour shredded potatoes, and a steamed egg custard, all still steaming hot.
"Wow, little boss, you're really amazing! You can actually cook!" Lin Jiaojiao exclaimed.
“You asked me to prepare a home-cooked meal for you, of course I’ll do it! Besides, I used to help my grandma cook when I was little, so this meal is no problem for me.” Song Mian said, handing the bowls and chopsticks to the two ghosts.
