After hearing Song Mian's words, Lin Jiaojiao's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets in surprise: "So your grandmother is actually the person Chen Shubin is looking for?"
“That’s most likely the case. I don’t believe in this ghost, and of course I can’t tell him about my grandmother’s clues.” Song Mian put away the antique necklace and continued to speak to Lin Jiaojiao in a low voice: “However, I will go to the hospital to see my grandmother tomorrow. I think I should be able to find out the cause and effect of the matter by then.”
“Young boss, your considerations are indeed very reasonable. It would be best if everything went smoothly, but if a ghost wanted to harm Grandma, this way you can prevent it.” Lin Jiaojiao said, glancing at the memorial tablet as well: “I should also improve myself and not believe everything that other ghosts say.”
"Your personality isn't bad, you just need to trust people who are trustworthy." Seeing Lin Jiaojiao looking rather dejected, Song Mian chuckled, "For example, me, I'm someone you can trust!"
Lin Jiaojiao was immediately amused by Song Mian, and her previous listless state changed completely.
After having a late-night snack with Lin Jiaojiao, Song Mian saw Lin Jiaojiao off. The next morning, she got up early to visit her grandmother at the hospital, but unexpectedly ran into Qi Yefeng as soon as she stepped out the door.
Qi Yefeng must have had a good night's sleep last night, because he came over this morning full of energy to have breakfast with Song Mian.
After entering the store, Qi Yefeng's brows remained furrowed: "Boss Song, I have a feeling that your store isn't very safe?"
Song Mian looked at Qi Yefeng with a puzzled expression, not quite understanding his meaning.
Qi Yefeng said seriously, "When I passed by the door just now, I saw a lot of idle people. I think these people don't seem to have any good intentions. You should be more careful about your safety."
“Mr. Qi, you don’t need to worry. This is a funeral clothing shop after all. Even if someone has bad intentions, they wouldn’t choose to target our shop. You can rest assured.” Song Mian said casually, not noticing that Qi Yefeng’s eyes were becoming increasingly serious.
Qi Yefeng didn't think this was a trivial matter that could be easily dismissed.
Boss Song Mian is too young, which is why he lacks this kind of safety awareness.
But as a man, he knew all too well how outrageous those bad men could be if they wanted to do bad things.
Perhaps he could hire a few bodyguards to stand guard outside the funeral shop in three shifts a day, silently protecting Boss Song's safety.
Knowing that Qi Shan and Lu Sijie had actually spoken to the hospital to help Song Mian reduce some of her medical expenses, Qi Yefeng naturally felt that it was all something the Qi family should do.
Seeing that Qi Yefeng didn't dwell on the topic any further, Song Mian breathed a sigh of relief.
After chatting with Qi Yefeng for a while, Song Mian finished her meal and said goodbye to Qi Yefeng.
After returning home, Song Mian took a nap. When it got dark, she saw Chen Shubin float out of the memorial tablet.
Chen Shubin forgot to wear his reading glasses this time. After floating out, he floated directly towards the wardrobe: "Young boss, you've really gone too far! You know I'm painstakingly searching for something that's very important to me, and you and your boyfriend are still showing off your love in front of me!"
Song Mian rolled her eyes at Chen Shubin: "I didn't. Besides, Qi Yefeng is my guest. He's the same as you. Please don't misunderstand the relationship between Mr. Qi and me."
Seeing Chen Shubin roll his eyes at her after putting on his reading glasses, Song Mian was too lazy to explain further.
After a night of rest, Chen Shubin's condition had improved considerably.
As a high-level ghost, Chen Shubin, like other ghosts, fears sunlight. However, during the day, they can appear in some dark corners of the room to avoid being discovered.
"Boss, please help me out and give me some food, or I'll starve to death!" Chen Shubin was as pitiful as ever when he saw Song Mian.
Normally, Song Mian would have slapped Chen Shubin away.
But today, she only glanced at Chen Shubin before giving him a can of milk and a large bag of biscuits.
Chen Shubin was also surprised to find that he was able to get food. He looked at Song Mian with astonishment and asked, "Little boss, why are you being so generous today?"
"I'm just going out for a bit. I hope you'll stay in the shop and not wander around." After seeing Qi Yefeng off and instructing Chen Shubin to stay home, Song Mian quickly tidied up the shop.
After finishing all that, Song Mian didn't have time to rest. She bought a lot of tonics and went straight to the hospital to visit Zhang Guiying.
In a regular ward at the hospital, Chen Guiying is resting.
She tiptoed to the bedside and gave Aunt Shen, with a look, a hint to keep quiet. She then stood quietly at the head of Chen Guiying's bed.
Chen Gui's eyes flickered, and she turned to look at Song Mian. Her previously cloudy eyes lit up with surprise: "Nannan, when did you get here? Xiao Shen, you didn't even remind me."
"Little Song wants to joke with you, why should I stop him?" Aunt Shen left the ward with the grandmother and grandson and left the room.
"Grandma, why are you resting at this time? Didn't you sleep well last night?" Song Mian noticed the dark circles under Chen Guiying's eyes and sat down on the edge of the bed.
A fleeting awkwardness crossed Chen Guiying's face: "I'm getting old and I need to sleep more. If I sleep at night, I can sleep during the day too. Besides, I'm just sitting in the hospital all day doing nothing."
"It's good for you to rest more. The doctor said you're malnourished and you need to recover before you can have the surgery."
“I’m fine, why would I need surgery? Nannan, you don’t earn money easily, let’s not waste money in the hospital, you should take Grandma home quickly.” Chen Guiying held Song Mian’s hand, “Look how thin you’ve become these past few days, it must be because you’re working too hard to earn money.”
“Grandma, these days you make money with your brain, not by doing manual labor. It’s not hard at all. Besides, my funeral clothing shop has just partnered with a new client, so there’s a lot of business to come. You don’t need to worry about me.”
"Nonsense. The funeral shop your parents left behind is in such a remote location, where would they get any business?"
"It's popular to burn burial clothes for the dead these days. I've partnered with a large funeral home... Oh, Grandma, have you forgotten that the doctor told you not to worry about too many trivial matters? If you don't recover quickly, you won't be able to be discharged from the hospital anytime soon."
Song Mian's words worked. Chen Guiying stopped asking Song Mian questions: "It's good that the work is going well. Nannan, your Aunt Chen will be back from getting food soon. Let's eat together then."
