At midnight, Lin Jiaojiao dragged Meng Yi to Song Mian's shop and they stood there.
Meng Yi looked utterly resistant and forcefully shook off Lin Jiaojiao's arm: "What's wrong with you, you devil? I already told you I didn't want to come, but you still insisted on dragging me here. What are you plotting?"
Lin Jiaojiao hadn't expected Meng Yi to guess so accurately. Her gaze darted away in a panic, and she said righteously, "Meng Yi, you're hurting my feelings by saying that. I only sent you here this time because of you."
"It's good enough that you're not trying to cheat me. What can you do for me?" Meng Yi looked Lin Jiaojiao up and down, his eyes filled with distrust.
Lin Jiaojiao felt a pang of anxiety, but said righteously, "Of course I'm doing this for you. Otherwise, if the boss doesn't open at this time, you'll be crying and won't even know where to begin!"
These words worked. Meng Yi, who had initially shown disdain, felt a chill run down his spine and stared at Lin Jiaojiao, asking, "What do you mean? Why would you just close such a good shop like this?"
"Of course it's because she's made enough money. The young owner wasn't an ambitious person to begin with; she only opened the funeral clothing shop out of necessity. Now that she's made several million, she doesn't want to see ghosts every day anymore, so she's decided to close the shop."
Lin Jiaojiao was so into her role that she almost convinced herself by the end: "I originally wanted to bring you here to see if Kani had anything he wanted to stock up on, so the shopkeeper could buy more for you. But I really didn't expect that you wouldn't care!"
"It's not that I don't care, I just can't accept this fact right now. Is the young boss facing some difficulties? Perhaps I can help," Meng Yi said hesitantly.
"You'd better try to get the shopkeeper to help you out. You can only get the things you like from him. If you want anything else, go talk to him yourself. I'm not going to help you anymore." After saying this, Lin Jiaojiao left Meng Yi behind.
"You'd better try to get the shopkeeper to help you out. You can only get the things you like from him. If you want anything else, go talk to him yourself. I'm not going to help you anymore." After saying this, Lin Jiaojiao left Meng Yi behind.
She looked as if she had completely lost hope in Meng Yi.
"Lin Jiaojiao, don't rush off." Seeing that Lin Jiaojiao had indeed left, Meng Yi hesitated for a moment, then floated into the funeral clothing shop.
In an instant, an indescribable stench assaulted his senses, causing Meng Yi to stagger.
The table was covered with various strongly flavored foods.
Durian, pickled bamboo shoots, and stinky tofu were placed side by side on the table, vying for attention, and their rich aromas wafted outwards in layers.
Meng Yi was overwhelmed by the smell. After taking two deep breaths, he found that the smell was still there, constantly lingering around his nose.
Soon, Meng Yi began to enjoy himself uncontrollably.
This taste was simply divine to Meng Yi.
However, the most prominent of these flavors is the slightly bitter taste of grass.
Following a peculiar aroma, Meng Yi focused his gaze on the hot pot at the very center of the table.
Inside, a bubbling broth, resembling crushed grass, was boiling. Unidentified objects were churning within the green broth, creating a scene that was hard to describe just by looking at it.
Meng Yi moved closer and saw the user manual placed to the side.
Outside the glass door in the backyard, Song Mian and Lin Jiaojiao watched Meng Yi's movements together. They glanced at each other and both clearly felt a churning in their stomachs.
"He actually ate it!" Lin Jiaojiao exclaimed in shock, feeling nauseous as she watched the scene unfold. "Boss, I can't take it! This kid has really a taste for the extreme!"
Song Mian looked at Meng Yi inside the room.
After taking a bite of tripe, Meng Yi showed an expression of extreme enjoyment, as if he was carefully savoring the food.
As he chewed slowly, Meng Yi couldn't describe the various flavors, which seemed to explode in his mouth.
It was incredibly addictive, yet also incredibly delicious. Meng Yi felt as if she had opened the door to a new world, and couldn't resist picking up a piece of durian and taking a bite.
The aroma of durian mixed with the smell of beef offal hotpot rushed in, powerfully assaulting his taste buds.
"Waaaah, this is so delicious! How can it be this delicious?!" Meng Yi exclaimed, while Bi Qing became increasingly intoxicated, and then poured the other side dishes prepared by Song Mian into the pot one by one.
He couldn't stop eating, one bite after another. Meng Yi liked it more and more, and in the end, he wanted to drink the whole broth of the hot pot.
Seeing Meng Yi touching his belly with a satisfied expression, Song Mian quickly opened the glass door to let in some fresh air.
The moment Song Mian opened the glass door, she could almost see the foul, pungent odor wafting through the air; the strong smell nearly made her stumble.
Suppressing the churning in her stomach, Song Mian shuddered all over, feeling completely unwell!
Lin Jiaojiao, who was standing to the side, couldn't withstand the overwhelming smell and bent over to vomit violently.
After Meng Yi had eaten and drunk his fill, seeing Lin Jiaojiao's resistance, he couldn't help but sigh, "Alas, she really doesn't know how to enjoy delicious food, or she's just unlucky!"
"You're lucky, otherwise how could you eat so much of my food in one go?" Song Mian looked heartbroken and sighed repeatedly at Meng Yi. "Do you know that I specially prepared this beef offal hotpot to please my big customer? I could sell this beef offal hotpot for eight million!"
Meng Yi's eyes widened in shock: "Song Mian! Stop trying to fool me! I know the market price. This hotpot meal costs at most a thousand yuan. I'll give you ten thousand if you want. Don't try to rip me off!"
"This is indeed the price in the mortal realm, but it's different once it's delivered to the ghost realm! Do you know how much effort it takes for me to deliver things from the mortal realm to you ghosts? I can only deliver this much stuff to the ghost realm every three days, which is why this hot pot is so precious!"
As Song Mian spoke, she got into character, wiping away non-existent tears from the corners of her eyes: "It's over. I promised the customers something but failed to do it. What's the point of living like this?"
"Hey, hey, hey, aren't you exaggerating? It's just a small thing, why are you making such a fuss?" Meng Yi saw that Song Mian was hanging her head and ignoring him, so he became uneasy. "Don't be like this, I can help you solve this, okay?"
“That’s not impossible.” Song Mian had been waiting for Meng Yi to say this, and immediately put away her sad expression, raising an eyebrow at Meng Yi.
Meng Yi then realized what was happening and looked at Song Mian with disbelief: "Are you kidding me? Song Mian, are you deliberately trying to trick me?"
Song Mian did it on purpose, of course, but facing the aggressive Meng Yi, she couldn't admit it: "You're really wronging me by saying that. I was originally planning to quit after making this one profit. You ruined my business."
"Lin Jiaojiao brought me here, so she should be involved in this too!" Meng Yi still couldn't accept the fact that she had been tricked.
