Chapter 36 Sublime Respect

When the people on the helicopter disembarked, Song Mian realized that there was a professional filming team on board.

Seeing anything like this camera lens always made Song Mian feel inexplicably nervous. Just as she was about to hide behind the crowd, she heard a deep and powerful voice.

"Are you Ms. Song Mian?"

As the voice rang out, Song Mian watched as the special police officers who had been blocking her way suddenly parted to the sides, clearing a path for her, as if they had agreed beforehand.

Song Mian appeared on camera without any preparation.

A middle-aged man in military uniform, who looked to be in his sixties but was very energetic, stepped out of the helicopter. He wore many medals on his chest. As he approached, the special police officers said in unison:

"Greetings, Commander!"

The melodious voice pierced Song Mian's ears, shocking her instantly!

"Hello Ms. Song Mian, I am Ling Jiao. Among the young Red Army soldiers you rescued this time, Ling Hongsheng is my great-uncle. When Longding Mountain was occupied by the enemy, my maternal grandmother fled with her newborn child. Later, when she heard about my great-uncle's birth, she always wanted to come back to find him."

Unfortunately, all these years, nothing was found, and even until my maternal grandmother passed away, she still remembered my great-uncle. Bringing my great-uncle and the young Red Army soldiers home had always been our wish. I originally thought that even in my generation, this wish would never be fulfilled, but unexpectedly, you actually found the young Red Army soldiers.

"You gave us the opportunity to send the young Red Army soldiers home, and you truly helped them return home. On behalf of the military region and everyone else, I thank you for your help."

As Ling Jiao spoke, Song Mian shook hands with him.

The flashes of cameras all around kept going off, and a blush crept onto Song Mian's pretty face: "This is all within my power. Besides, I just happened to discover it."

"If you hadn't led the children to escape the clutches of human traffickers, you wouldn't have discovered the remains of these young Red Army soldiers. You saved the children, fought the criminals, and helped the young Red Army soldiers return home. Your contributions are truly immeasurable! Ms. Song Mian, we express our sincerest respect to you, and we urge you not to refuse." Ling Jiao's gaze was intense as she released Song Mian's hand and saluted her.

"All personnel, listen to my command! Let us pay the highest tribute to Ms. Song Mian!"

All government personnel present stood at attention and saluted Song Mian!

"Thank you, you're too kind," Song Mian quickly said.

“Ms. Song Mian, we have brought coffins for the young Red Army soldiers. Please come with us to send them home,” Ling Jiao said.

“Okay, let’s go.” Song Mian cooperated fully and, accompanied by the others, returned to the cave.

Inside the cave, the bodies of the young Red Army soldiers were all mixed together. Because so much time had passed, it was impossible to distinguish their bodies, which made Ling Jiao and the others feel troubled.

Seeing that Ling Jiao and the others were covered in cold sweat and looked completely at a loss, Song Mian watched as Xiao Shitou's spirit appeared in a dark corner.

“Sister, let them leave our bodies together like this. We’ve been through thick and thin together, fighting side by side. We’ve been together for eighty years, and we hope that we can stay together forever.” Hong Sheng and the others appeared behind Xiao Shitou.

“Okay, I’ll convey your message.” Song Mian said, walking towards Ling Jiao, who was positioned in front of the camera.

"Commander, I think it would be better to let the young Red Army soldiers stay together; it's their wish too," Song Mian said to Ling Jiao in a low voice as she came under the camera's lens.

"How did Miss Song Mian know that this was their wish?" Ling Jiao looked at Song Mian with a puzzled expression.

Song Mian blinked her clear, bright eyes, and her pure and lovely appearance naturally attracted the photographer's lens, drawing everyone's attention to her.

"Because I have some kind of connection with these young Red Army soldiers. I feel that I was able to escape from human traffickers with the children thanks to their protection. They are still protecting us to this day, which is why I was able to find their remains with their help."

Eighty years have passed since they were sacrificed and were discovered. During these eighty years, the young Red Army soldiers remained with their comrades, supporting each other. Now, perhaps they no longer wish to be separated.

Song Mian's tone was low and his words left everyone present looking at each other in bewilderment.

"Miss Song Mian, you, you mean you can sense the presence of the Little Red Army?" Ling Jiao looked at Song Mian in disbelief.

Song Mian spoke very tactfully on camera, but everyone could understand what she meant.

Song Mian's implication was that she could see ghosts?!

Having held a high position for so many years, Ling Jiao had indeed heard of many phenomena in this world that could not be explained by science.

However, this was the first time he had ever heard someone say that they could actually see ghosts.

Under normal circumstances, Ling Jiao wouldn't have believed it.

However, Song Mian's experience was too bizarre, and he couldn't understand how a weak woman like Song Mian could be so powerful.

If all of this is because Song Mian had a ghost assisting her, then everything makes sense.

Moreover, he had learned the general outline of the incident and had seen the brief statements of the inmates provided by the special police officers.

The ringleaders of those human traffickers were all driven to the brink of insanity, and without exception, they all claimed to have seen ghosts.

Especially that third-in-command named Wang Dashan, who kept calling Song Mian a vixen...

Seeing the atmosphere around him suddenly freeze, Song Mian was at a loss for what to do.

She wasn't sure if these people would choose to believe her.

Just as Song Mian was struggling with her decision, the young Red Army soldiers were standing in the corner, and Ling Jiao caught a glimpse of them as they passed by.

Even for just that one moment, Ling Jiao realized that the Little Red Army soldiers were standing behind Song Mian, protecting her.

What Song Mian said was indeed true!

If she weren't facing a camera, Ling Jiao almost certainly would have screamed right in front of it.

But as a leader, even if he sees something supernatural on camera, he must remain calm.

“Miss Song Mian is right. The Young Red Army soldiers sacrificed themselves in front of us, and even today they are trying to protect future generations. Their spirit is worthy of our learning, and we should not separate them!”

After hearing the leader's words, the young Red Army soldiers were all put into the coffin together, and Song Mian finally breathed a sigh of relief.

With the help of Ling Jiao, Song Mian, Qi Yefeng, and the five rescued children boarded the helicopter with Ling Jiao.

Ling Jiao promised to ensure that all the children killed by human traffickers would return home safely, and only then did Song Mian finally feel heartbroken.

Having been busy all night, Song Mian was exhausted and fell fast asleep as soon as she boarded the helicopter.

Song Mian thought she could go home and rest after getting off the plane, but to her surprise, as soon as the helicopter came to a stop, a group of media rushed over as the helicopter door opened!

Surrounded by a group of strangers and armed with cameras and microphones, Song Mian instinctively protected the children.

"It's Miss Song Mian and Chief Ling who have returned with the children!"

As Song Mian was blinded by the flashing lights of the media cameras, several men and women dressed in different outfits rushed towards her.

Song Mian took a step back and watched as all the men and women stopped half a meter away from her and knelt down in front of her.

The woman closest to Song Mian raised her head, her weathered face streaked with tears, as if she had a thousand words to say.
