Song Mian took a picture of the kitchen for Ling Jiao and then sent her a dismayed emoji.
Less than five minutes later, Ling Jiao called.
Before Song Mian even had a chance to complain, she heard Ling Jiao's smiling voice coming from the other end of the receiver: "Miss Song, I have already helped your grandmother Zhang Guiying and your grandfather complete the divorce procedures."
Song Mian's complaints were immediately silenced by Ling Jiao's words. After hesitating for a while, she finally managed to utter, "So fast?"
Ling Jiao smiled and said, "It wasn't a troublesome matter to begin with. Besides, I know some people, so it's not difficult to handle these things. Miss Song, you've helped me so much, so naturally I'll do my best to help you."
Song Mian felt a slight pressure, but forced a smile and said, "Don't worry, Chief Ling, things are going very smoothly here as well."
After briefly exchanging those two sentences with Ling Jiao, Song Mian hung up the phone and resignedly went to tidy up.
Song Mian stayed at Yu Bai's house for a full day, and it wasn't until sunset that she finally cleaned up the house.
Ge You lay down on the sofa, and Song Mian finally heard the sound of a door opening from the room on the second floor.
"Yu Bai, I'm done with my work!" Song Mian looked at Yu Bai with great interest, but she found that Yu Bai on the second floor had only opened the door a crack, and he was hiding behind the crack watching Song Mian.
"Thank you for your hard work. You can go home now and come back to cook for me tomorrow." Without giving Song Mian a chance to refuse, Yu Bai closed the door.
He remained indifferent to her throughout.
Song Mian immediately realized that Yu Bai was keeping his distance from her because of the ghost that had haunted him before.
Since she couldn't find Meng Yi to resolve the matter yet, Song Mian hesitated for a moment before deciding to leave Yu Bai's house first.
As agreed, Jiaojiao will bring Mengyi to her shop tonight.
Remembering Meng Yi's awkward personality, Song Mian devised a way to deal with him. After deciding to keep the matter a secret, she left Yu Bai's house.
At midnight, Lin Jiaojiao dragged Meng Yi to Song Mian's shop and they stood there.
Meng Yi looked utterly resistant and forcefully shook off Lin Jiaojiao's arm: "What's wrong with you, you devil? I already told you I didn't want to come, but you still insisted on dragging me here. What are you plotting?"
Lin Jiaojiao hadn't expected Meng Yi to guess so accurately. Her gaze darted away in a panic, and she said righteously, "Meng Yi, you're hurting my feelings by saying that. I only sent you here this time because of you."
"It's good enough that you're not trying to cheat me. What can you do for me?" Meng Yi looked Lin Jiaojiao up and down, his eyes filled with distrust.
Lin Jiaojiao felt a pang of anxiety, but she said righteously, "Of course I'm doing this for you. Otherwise, when Boss Daoxiang closes down the shop, you'll be crying and won't even know where to begin!"
These words worked. Meng Yi, who had initially shown disdain, felt a chill run down his spine and stared at Lin Jiaojiao, asking, "What do you mean? Why would you just close such a good shop like this?"
"Of course it's because she's made enough money. The young owner wasn't an ambitious person to begin with; she only opened the funeral clothing shop out of necessity. Now that she's made several million, she doesn't want to see ghosts every day anymore, so she's decided to close the shop."
Lin Jiaojiao was so into her role that she almost convinced herself by the end: "I originally wanted to bring you here to see if Kani had anything he wanted to stock up on, so the shopkeeper could buy more for you. But I really didn't expect that you wouldn't care!"
"It's not that I don't care, I just can't accept this fact right now. Is the young boss facing some difficulties? Perhaps I can help," Meng Yi said hesitantly.
"You'd better try to get the shopkeeper to help you out. You can only get the things you like from him. If you want anything else, go talk to him yourself. I'm not going to help you anymore." After saying this, Lin Jiaojiao left Meng Yi behind.
She looked as if she had completely lost hope in Meng Yi.
"Lin Jiaojiao, don't rush off." Seeing that Lin Jiaojiao had indeed left, Meng Yi hesitated for a moment, then floated into the funeral clothing shop.
In an instant, an indescribable stench assaulted his senses, causing Meng Yi to stagger.
The table was covered with various strongly flavored foods.
Durian, pickled bamboo shoots, and stinky tofu were placed side by side on the table, vying for attention, and their rich aromas wafted outwards in layers.
Meng Yi was overwhelmed by the smell. After taking two deep breaths, he found that the smell was still there, constantly lingering around his nose.
Soon, Meng Yi began to enjoy himself uncontrollably.
This taste was simply divine to Meng Yi.
However, the most prominent of these flavors is the slightly bitter taste of grass.
Following a peculiar aroma, Meng Yi focused his gaze on the hot pot at the very center of the table.
Inside, a bubbling broth, resembling crushed grass, was boiling. Unidentified objects were churning within the green broth, creating a scene that was hard to describe just by looking at it.
Meng Yi moved closer and saw the user manual placed to the side.
"Beef offal hot pot, a synonym for deliciousness." Upon discovering that this thing called beef offal hot pot was eaten in exactly the same way as normal hot pot, Meng Yi sat down as if possessed, picked up a piece of tripe and dipped it in the pot.
Outside the glass door in the backyard, Song Mian and Lin Jiaojiao watched Meng Yi's movements together. They glanced at each other and both clearly felt a churning in their stomachs.
"He actually ate it!" Lin Jiaojiao exclaimed in shock, feeling nauseous as she watched the scene unfold. "Boss, I can't take it! This kid has really a taste for the extreme!"
Song Mian looked at Meng Yi inside the room.
After taking a bite of tripe, Meng Yi showed an expression of extreme enjoyment, as if he was carefully savoring the food.
As he chewed slowly, Meng Yi couldn't describe the various flavors, which seemed to explode in his mouth.
It was incredibly addictive, yet also incredibly delicious. Meng Yi felt as if she had opened the door to a new world, and couldn't resist picking up a piece of durian and taking a bite.
The aroma of durian mixed with the smell of beef offal hotpot rushed in, powerfully assaulting his taste buds.
"Waaaah, this is so delicious! How can it be this delicious?!" Meng Yi exclaimed, while Bi Qing became increasingly intoxicated, and then poured the other side dishes prepared by Song Mian into the pot one by one.
