While washing the side dishes, Wen Lu said in a light tone, "Uncle Sun, I don't actually like it here. It makes me uncomfortable."
“Everything here is too business-like. Perhaps in your subconscious you think of me as a young lady, your master, but in my mind, I want to treat you and Aunt Sun as family, not as servants.”
“Take Jasmine for example. Her behavior is so stiff, like a robot. I feel really awkward about her. If she continues like this, I probably won’t come to this place again.”
Upon hearing Wen Lu's words, the butler unconsciously tensed up, wondering if he had messed things up.
“Young Miss, this is how I trained my subordinates in the Wen family before. Don’t worry, I will pay more attention to it from now on. I will explain it to them first thing tomorrow morning.”
The butler then realized that he had been wrong from the beginning. Wen Lu was different from Chu Qin and the others. When she was in the Wen family, she always treated the servants politely and never acted arrogantly.
Just as the housekeeper was reflecting on his mistakes, Wen Lu had already cooked the noodles. She put the noodles in a bowl, and the housekeeper immediately stepped forward, placed a bowl of hand-pulled noodles that looked delicious on a tray, and took the initiative to speak.
"Miss, let me take it inside for you."
Wen Lu did not refuse the butler's actions. She nodded gently, picked up the chopsticks and a side dish on the tray, and walked with the butler towards the main house.
When Wen Lu walked into the house from outside, she saw that Wang Jinyu had changed into a set of home clothes and was sitting in the living room with a tablet computer next to him and his eyes closed on the sofa.
"Butler, leave this to me. You can go and rest." With that, Wen Lu took the bowl of noodles from the butler, placed it on the coffee table, and then let the butler leave.
The butler glanced at Wang Jinyu, who was sitting on the sofa, exuding a gentle and refined air, and left the room without saying anything more.
Hearing the butler leave, Wang Jinyu opened his eyes and looked at Wen Lu as he reached out his hand to her.
Wen Lu watched Wang Jinyu's actions without making any move. She sat down on the sofa next to him and pointed with her chin to the bowl of clear soup noodles placed in front of Wang Jinyu.
"After you finish eating the noodles, you can go back and rest."
Upon hearing Wen Lu's words, Wang Jinyu withdrew his hand, glanced at the time, and realized it was indeed time for Wen Lu to rest; they couldn't delay any longer.
Wang Jinyu sat up from the sofa, picked up the chopsticks next to the plate, took a bite of the seemingly bland noodles, and found that the taste was much better than he had imagined.
"It's delicious..."
Looking at Wang Jinyu's expression, Wen Lu, if she didn't know that Wang Jinyu was a big eater and enjoyed many gourmet meals, might have been genuinely impressed by the look of amazement in his eyes. Wen Lu smiled gently.
"Eat more if you like it. Once you're full, you can go back and rest."
Looking at the dark circles under Wang Jinyu's eyes, Wen Lu felt a pang of heartache. Ever since she learned about Wang Jinyu's identity, she knew how difficult things had been for him, and she couldn't help but feel more sorry for him.
After Wang Jinyu finished eating, Wen Lu stood up, tidied up the dishes, and walked out of the main room toward the kitchen.
Wang Jinyu had intended to go out with Wen Lu, but just then, his phone suddenly vibrated. He took the phone, sat back down, and answered the call.
When Wen Lu returned to the main house, she saw Wang Jinyu on the phone. She glanced at him indifferently and prepared to walk into the house, but Wang Jinyu did not intend to let her leave. He stood up, reached out and pulled her into his arms. The two sat down together on the soft couch. At this moment, a deep voice came from the phone.
"Wang Jinyu, how many times do I have to tell you? You must come back for Grandpa Yan's birthday banquet next weekend. I don't care where you are, you have to come back."
Upon hearing about Grandpa Yan's birthday banquet, Wen Lu unconsciously turned her head to look at Wang Jinyu. She was thinking about what kind of presentable gift she should prepare for Grandpa Yan's birthday.
Seeing Wen Lu looking thoughtful, Wang Jinyu casually replied "Old Wang" and hung up the phone. Then he picked up Wen Lu and carried her towards the bedroom.
Wen Lu lay in Wang Jinyu's arms, her arms wrapped around his neck, a faint smile on her face, squinting at him.
"If you hang up on Mr. Wang like that, he might be unhappy!"
Wang Jinyu looked at the little girl in his arms watching the commotion, snorted coldly, and chuckled softly: "If he knew you called him Old Wang, he might be even more unhappy. He doesn't consider himself an old man."
As he spoke, Wang Jinyu gently placed Wen Lu on the bed, then turned around and walked towards the door. He locked the door, went to the dressing room to change into a set of pajamas, and then came out.
Seeing that Wang Jinyu was fully equipped, Wen Lu lay on the bed, resting her chin on her hand, and lazily raised her hand to Wang Jinyu, saying indifferently, "Don't turn off the light. Let me see your wound. Has it fully healed recently?"
Wen Lu knew that Wang Jinyu had a habit of sleeping without clothes on. She felt that Wang Jinyu was in such a hurry to turn off the lights and put on his pajamas that he was trying to cover something up. She needed to find out the reason before she could feel at ease.
Seeing Wen Lu's queen-like demeanor, Wang Jinyu paused, his hand already on the light switch. He then walked towards the bed, his long fingers fiddling with the buttons of his pajamas, hesitating to make a move.
Wen Lu snorted coldly as she watched Wang Jinyu's deliberately seductive actions, then sat up from the bed and looked at him with a clear and pure gaze.
"Let me tell you, Wang Jinyu, if you're going to cause any trouble here, get out of here! I'm young and not in good health, I don't understand what you're trying to do!"
Hearing Wen Lu's words, Wang Jinyu lowered his head to meet Wen Lu's calm eyes, chuckled helplessly, and obediently took off his shirt so that Wen Lu could examine his wounds.
Wen Lu looked at Wang Jinyu's wound, which had already scabbed over, and gently pressed it to make sure it was completely healed before feeling relieved. Then she lay back down on the big bed and spoke to Wang Jinyu in a calm and unhurried tone.
"Alright, you can turn off the lights and go to bed now. It's getting late. Do you want to chat with me and hear me talk about something, or do you want to go to sleep early and we can talk about it tomorrow?"
Actually, Wen Lu was also a bit tired today. She was emotionally stressed because of Dong Zhimeng's matter, and her body was still somewhat fatigued.
However, there were some things she didn't want Wang Jinyu to know from others, so she left the choice to him.
