Chapter 196 He didn't want much, just Wen Lu

Just as Wang Jinyu was about to enter the consultation room, he heard Ling Sheng say this. He stopped and turned around to look at Ling Sheng, his brows furrowed. He hadn't expected that Wen Lu would have ruined her health so much in just one week. He really didn't know what she had gone through these past few days.

“Okay, I’ll discuss the matter of hiring a TCM doctor with her. If you have a suitable TCM doctor, please recommend one to me. Once she agrees, I’ll take her to see one.”

Following Ling Sheng's advice, Wang Jinyu spoke calmly, then turned and walked into the consultation room.

Seeing Wang Jinyu's actions, Wang Jinxian and Ling Sheng exchanged a glance. Wang Jinxian then left with Ling Sheng, without disturbing Wang Jinyu as he went to accompany Wen Lu.

Upon entering the ward, Wang Jinyu noticed that Wen Lu was staring at the ceiling with her eyes wide open. He stepped forward and gently placed his hands on Wen Lu's eyes, wanting her to close them and rest for a while.

Unexpectedly, the next second Wen Lu raised her hand and slapped Wang Jinyu's hand hard.

Instantly, several red finger marks appeared on Wang Jinyu's fair hand.

Seeing Wen Lu's angry expression, Wang Jinyu, who had been hit, smiled gently and apologized to her in a tender tone.

"I was wrong, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have run away like a deserter."

Wang Jinyu bent down and gently hugged Wen Lu in his arms. He had been reflecting on things these past few days, and putting aside the grudges between him and Meiying, he was indeed the one who had wronged Wen Lu.

From the day he met Wen Lu, Wen Lu saved his life time and time again. Without Wen Lu's help, he might have died long ago.

Moreover, Wen Lu genuinely didn't know she was the leader of the W organization before; there was no deliberate attempt by Wen Lu to get close to her. It was all a misunderstanding on his part.

"I'm sorry, I was really wrong. I shouldn't have left without a word, I shouldn't have let you suffer so much alone. You can be angry with me, you can not forgive me, but please don't torture yourself anymore, okay? I've thought about it a lot, and I've realized that I really can't live without you, h."

Hearing Wang Jinyu's apology, Wen Lu smiled coldly. She didn't know why, but even though she missed him so much, she wasn't happy when she heard him say that he couldn't live without her.

"Ha, are you pitying me? Shouldn't you hate me to death? Wang Jinyu, what exactly do you want with this deep affection? Do you think that taking my life easily won't relieve your resentment? Have you become so despicable as to sell your body?"

Wen Lu didn't believe what Wang Jinyu said. She was convinced that her relationship with Wang Jinyu could only be one of life and death. Their current affectionate way of getting along was too abnormal.

Upon hearing Wen Lu's words, Wang Jinyu sighed helplessly, got up from Wen Lu, and looked at her with a serious yet tender expression.

"If I told you that I regretted leaving you, and after a few days of reflection, I realized that you've become my life, and I can't live without you, would you believe me?"

Looking at Wang Jinyu's serious expression, Wen Lu slowly closed her wide eyes. She felt ridiculous; Wang Jinyu could easily coax her and she had already softened.

To be honest, Wen Lu didn't believe a single word Wang Jinyu said. In her memory, Wang Jinyu wasn't someone who compromised easily.

I don't believe a single word of it.

Wen Lu gently pushed Wang Jinyu's hand away, turned over, buried her head in the pillow, and didn't want to look at Wang Jinyu anymore. She was afraid that she would really be able to brainwash herself and believe what he said.

She kept reminding herself not to be misled by Wang Jinyu, as he must have his own motives for doing this.

Seeing Wen Lu's actions, Wang Jinyu frowned slightly. He didn't know what he could do to make Wen Lu believe him.

He reached out and took Wen Lu's cold little hand, gently coaxing her in a soft voice.

“I really know I was wrong. I know that nothing I say now will make you trust me. I really couldn’t accept that you were the Phantom back then, but I’ve come to my senses now. I’ve already had someone reinvestigate what happened back then.”

"Wen Lu, are you willing to tell me what exactly happened back then? Actually, I had my suspicions about what happened back then, but all the evidence pointed to you. Your reputation was already bad internationally, and I was in a state of grief and indignation, so I never thought of reinvestigating."

"But things are different now. After spending time with you, I've found that you're nothing like the rumors suggest. I believe there must have been a misunderstanding about what happened back then. Would you be willing to give me a chance to prove your innocence?"

Upon hearing Wang Jinyu's words, Wen Lu suddenly turned around and sat up from the hospital bed.

She squinted at Wang Jinyu with her beautiful big eyes, a dangerous glint in them.

"What if the investigation results are the same as the truth back then? Will you still kill me? Or will you be reluctant to do it, or will you just leave?"

"No, I'm willing to believe you. If you're willing to tell me the truth, I can accept it no matter what. Even if you really are the one who killed my master, I still won't let you go. At worst, I'll apologize to my master after I die. Letting you go once is enough; there won't be a next time."

Wang Jinyu reached out and hugged Wen Lu. Having experienced this, he had tasted the bitterness of love, and he dared not imagine what life would be like without Wen Lu.

Holding Wen Lu in his arms, Wang Jinyu was thinking that if his master's death was really related to Wen Lu, he would not let go of Wen Lu's hand.

He didn't ask for much; Wen Lu was someone he would never give up, no matter what.

As Wen Lu thought of Wang Jinyu's determined gaze, the corners of her lips turned up slightly, revealing a smile that resembled relief.

With Wang Jinyu's firm choice, Wen Lu was no longer so resistant to the truth of what happened back then. She closed the distance between herself and Wang Jinyu and began to recount what had happened in a calm tone.

“I did not kill your master, but he died because of me. I brought him to that place to threaten you and make you exchange the goods your organization stole for your master.”

“But I received a phone call halfway through and left the warehouse. After I left, I don’t know who entered the warehouse. When I returned, your master was already dead.”

“If I’m not mistaken, your master should know that person, because before the surveillance video was destroyed, when your master saw him, he was very excited, the kind of excitement you feel when you think you’ve been saved.”

After Wen Lu finished speaking, she didn't dare to look into Wang Jinyu's eyes. She was afraid of seeing doubt in Wang Jinyu's eyes, and she was afraid of getting hurt.
